I absolutely can not say enough for Bella @ the Short Hills Chanel boutique. She helped me a year ago and was a fabulous sales woman then. She showed expertise & professionalism while letting me sample several bags on both shopping occasions. I ended up buying two purses in 2015. Yet again, a year later, she helped me... & again I bought two more. She goes above and beyond. And, she does it with a smile welcoming you inside the boutique each time. She gives detailed facts about the history of various purses and also is honest discussing the pros and cons of each leather type so that the customer leaves happy & satisfied. Superb job, Bella!! My experience with this Chanel has dragged on for several painful months due to their repeated outrageous errors. Up until this point I had been a loyal Chanel customer but I may have given up on this brand for good due to the way I have been treated. Here is what happened: I brought a well-loved handbag into the store to ask if I could have it refinished. The young man said yes, quoted me a price, and I left my bag with him. Fast forward a few weeks...I received a phone call from the boutique saying that my bag was ready for me. I was asked for my credit card number so that I could pay for the repairs. The amount due was completely different than what I had been quoted in the store (strike #1). I paid anyway, and in a couple of days, my bag was shipped to my home. When I unpackaged my handbag, I was shocked to observe the condition that it was in. The colored finish on the straps looked like it had been painted on by a 5-year-old (strike #2). Incredibly disappointed, I called the store to ask if anything could be done. The girl who answered their phone greeted me with a bitchy "Hello?!". Expecting a classier greeting, I assumed I must have dialed incorrectly, so I asked, "is this Chanel?". She replied that it was and promptly put me on hold without warning. When she eventually had the decency to speak to me, I explained my situation to her and asked if they could send me a box with a prepaid shipping label so that they could re-do my bag. She didn't understand what I was asking at first, but when I eventually got through to her she said they could do that but she gave me a crazy story about what my doorman would have to do with the box upon it being delivered (strike #3). Completely frustrated, I gave up on this dense employee and called corporate. I told them what had been happening and asked what they could do. They said nothing other than just having the store's manager call me. I said fine. After a week, the manager had not called me (strike #4). I called corporate again. They apologized and told me that they would reach out to the store manager again. This time, the manager called me a couple days later. When I spoke to her manager, I explained my situation and she told me that they could absolutely send me a box and prepaid label...no crazy requirements of my doorman necessary. A couple of days later I received the box and sent my bag back to them. About a month went by and I heard nothing from them. I called and asked to speak to the manager again, and she laughed, saying she had been hoping I would call since they did not have my phone number written down correctly! Ok, well you had my address...after a few weeks it would have been logical to send me a note, no? (Strike #5). She agreed that my bag had been refurbished badly and said that they would refund the money I had paid for the repairs and would re-do it. She told me it would take 2-4 weeks and that they would ship it back to me when it was done. Fast forward about 5 or 6 weeks (strike #6). I receive a call that my bag is ready to pick up. I call the store to tell them that I had been told it would be shipped to me. The man I was speaking to that would be fine. Since I knew by then that I had to assume the worst of them, I asked, "do you have my address?" he replied that they did. I asked if he could please read it back to me. He said ok, and recited the street name. I said, "and the apartment number?" he said that he didn't have that (strike #7). I'm so glad to know that if I hadn't completely dragged it out of him, they would have sent my bag to a non-existent address to match my non-existent phone number. I received my bag today. It is in even worse condition that it was in before, with the colored finish slathered sloppily all over. At least I was hardly hoping for a decent result. (Strike #8). Get your shit together, Chanel. This is service I would expect from Walmart, not a high-end boutique. If I had experienced one or two mistakes from you I would be able to look past it, but eight shameful errors says that there is something serious going on here that really needs to be looked into. ----UPDATE------ I contacted Chanel's corporate office about this situation. The manager, Mike, told me that he would work something out and call me back no later than the following day. It has now been 2 1/2 weeks and I have not been contacted. read more

Stay away from the people working at the Mall at Short Hills - Chanel store!!!! One would think you'll get a great experience from a brand that promises "great things." If you are willing to spend $6000 on a handbag, the least you want is being treated disrespectfully. When I called to inquire about two bags at the store, the person who picked up the phone (I think her name was Evelyn) seemed quite inconvenienced having to look at the inventory for "two" bags and tell me if it's available. Then she went on to add that "even if they are available, they might not be in a few hours so she insisted I must come in and ask for her." She also told me the days she's at the store. She finally did check and tell me that the bags were available but said "again, this might change in a few minutes and we can't hold anything for you," when I did not ask for holding the bag for me. After two days I called the store again because I wanted to go that evening to the store or next day to Manhattan to buy the bag but I tried calling the store about five times over a few hours and couldn't get through. Then I called Neiman Marcus and they connected me through. At first, the first call was cut as soon as it was picked up and when I got someone I very politely said my greetings and then explained that "I am not sure if something is wrong with your main landline as I have been trying to call you for a few hours about a bag I'm interested in buying." The person who btw greeted me saying "chanel handbags in a very perky manner" no how can I help you, what are you looking for....seriously this is Chanel receiving a call!! Anyway, she never responded to what I said about the phone and instead went on to be pretty unprofessional. These are her words "What are you saying, I don't get what you just said...is it the phone or what that didn't work for you" in a tone which I could tell was condescending. This associate even laughed, smirked when she was saying this. I was shocked and told her I was going to come and buy a bag but now I will go to Fifth Avenue perhaps. She hung up!!! I was pretty mad so I called up Chanel helpline and expressed how I felt and what had happened. A lady called Valerie helped me take my complaint in. However, this is Chanel - there is no follow up after she promised me that I will get a call on following Monday about the issue. She also said that we they informed the Mall at Store Hills and they too will follow up. Nothing yet. I actually am in disbelief (which seems to be the norm in reality). Chanel is hiring associates who are uncouth and probably not very literate in the "customer care department." They probably come and flaunt their Chanel attire given free and behave like they are very privileged to be working here...definitely snobbish!!! I'll say please get some education and while you are there, please learn some manners. Very very disappointed! Horrible service! The location of the boutique within the mall was moved about a year ago, and it looks beautiful. There is a large selection of handbags, jewelry, shoes, accessories and RTW. This new location is much more spacious than the previous. My SA Greg is the absolute best. My father had previously shopped with him when he worked at Louis Vuitton years ago. He's incredibly kind, knowledgable and personable, able to recommend unique products. He takes the time to listen to what you want, and brings out several options. Having worked in retail, I know how hectic stores can get during a rush. No matter the amount of customers in the store at any given store, Greg is able to multitask, and provide great service at the same time. I honestly don't know how he does, it but I would recommend him to anyone looking to purchase anything from Chanel. I've mentioned him to different friends that work throughout the mall, and he is well known throughout the entire mall. His personality truly shines through whenever I work with him. though i've personally bought leather goods and jewelry at other chanel boutiques (boston namely), it has been this chanel boutique that has really helped me out. i have had problems with my jumbo flap bag that needed to be restitched and they repaired it without charge or problem.. and it was not under warranty. i also had a pair of chanel sunnies straight up broke on me. i happened to be in the area and take them in and they told me they would "see what they could do". well i got a call a week later and they gave me a brand new pair of sunnies. i must say, though i do not expect anything chanel to break on me especially a flap bag...their service has been excellent and their repairs are prompt. read more

So I decided to check out Chanel on my third visit to Short Hills mall. I usually just drop by Neiman Marcus but decided to see what else Short Hills had to offer. This was my first time visiting this Chanel location. I had high expectations since the one on Rodeo Drive in LA has great staff. Oh my gosh, what incredible staff! I wrote down the sales associate's name but I just can't remember it off top. When I return I'll edit this post and include her name. She was so bubbly and welcoming. She allowed me to try on as many bags as I needed. I like to browse online and try it on in store. I was in a rush because I had family visiting so I couldn't purchase that day but I will return to make my purchases soon. The store is fairly small but I like that because the associates can focus on individual customers. I wasn't offered champagne or anything while in store, which I thought was odd but I figured since it's a small store, they probably don't do that there. It has a very neat and open layout; if you've been to Chanel before then you know it's a simple black backdrop as well. I believe if there is an item/color they don't have in store they can order it for you to pick up. It's better to shop here rather than 5th Avenue in the city as well because the sales taxes are cheaper in New Jersey. I'll definitely be back! read more

I called this Chanel Store to inquire if an item was in stock prior to driving out. I was assisted by a "Jen" who put me on hold for a countless amount of time. I called back and was rudely put on hold again. I spaced out my call and this time called back and was told by Jen, the sales girl, because that is what you are, that she "did not know" if the item was in stock. I guess it was too much trouble to check the stock report in your computer to see what items were available...that would have interfered with Jen not working and most likely taking selfies of herself all day by bags that she can not even afford. I will say this, the customer service practices are rude and unacceptable!! If I am going to drop 4k+ on a purse, I expect to be treated nicely at best. So, while you drive your crappy Honda Civic home to your Trailer Park, Jen, I am making real money, not sales girl money, and buying myself nice things at other High End Shops. If Chanel insists on hiring wanna be "it" girl high school glory day throw backs, then I refuse to patron their brand. I am appalled that this treatment toward customers goes unchecked by this company. Who needs Chanel with countless other beauties out there to own? So, so long Chanel. You're customer service practices are sub standard and therefore other high end houses will receive the fruits of my labor when I choose to treat myself. read more

I've visited this Chanel 3x in the last 2 months. As with all Chanel boutiques, stock is limited however I did manage to pick up a few goodies. The first visit Bella assisted me. I had my 3 year old daughter with me and she offered us both bottled water while I waited for her to wrap up my brooch and card case. A really nice thoughtful touch was when she included a small shopping bag of camelia flowers for my daughter. Left with a smile. My 2nd visit Julia assisted with my square mini purchase. Again my daughter and I were given water while my bag was being wrapped up. That day there was an issue with their register in which I had to wait for them to fix. To make up for the inconvenience they wrapped up a bottle of Chanel No. 5 on the house. Nice! Left with a smile again. The 3rd visit was my fave vIsit of all. I was assisted by Gregory and he went above and beyond. He served me water as I tried on boy bags. The boy bag I chose wasn't in stock. They only had the display so he was nice enough to order it from another boutique and offered overnight shipping. As he was ringing me up I asked him if the white dust bag for the jumbo was washable as mine was getting dirty. He went above and beyond and gave me 3 new dust bags! He threw them in a shopping bag and as he stuck the camellia on to the shopping bag, I commented how much I loved the camellia flowers so he sprinkled a handful of camellias in the shopping bag! Yes small touches like this make me happy. Lol. He hooked me up! I left with a smile from ear to ear! I purchased my jumbo flap at Saks earlier this year and I really hoped I had purchased it here instead specifically from Gregory bc customer service is top notch at this location! The Chanel boutique in Short Hills Mall is the WORST customer service i have ever witnessed. I was given Chanel Sunglasses as a christmas gift to me and 5 months later the rhinestones on the side had fallen off. I went to Chanel to go get them fixed and while i was there, the salespeople were so inconsiderate, acting like i was beneathe them, they didn't answer any of my questions and were flat out rude. After talking with the women for 30 min. about my glasses and having to re-explain myself many times, she told me they would be ready 3-5 days. After 3 weeks of waiting to hear about my glasses from Jen i finally called. The store manager told me that Jen forgot to tell me that it would take 12 WEEKS for my glasses to be repaired. I am furious with this and am never going back to this Chanel store again. I always try and disagree with people when they say that sales associates in high end stores are "snobs" because i love designer things but from now on i am going to have to re-think my decision to do that. read more

If Chanel is your brand than the boutique at the Short Hills location is a must. The sales associates are not only knowledgeable but very friendly. I can not say enough about Lindsay, she would search every store if there was a bag or shoes that I really wanted and would follow up with me, regularly. I am not an avid Yelp user, but I just had to write because I've had consistently wonderful experiences at this store. All the SA at this boutique, including Bella, Cheryl, Julia, and Greg are like shopping with your friends. They are always honest, knowledgeable and really want you to be happy with your purchase. I have personally witnessed Gretchen, the store manager handle returns or questions and have been quite impressed with her demeanor. Gretchen's love for the brand is contagious and she will go out of her way to help resolve any issues that arise with patience and understanding.
