Had no…read moreexpectations because, like I said, it was cold, they were the closest place to take shelter and I saw a coffee bar. Anyway, since then I've been back 3 more times; once for breakfast and twice for brunch. And while I'm confessing, the two times for lunch were on subsequent days. Yeah, they're that good. Actually, their chicken salad on a croissant is the best I've ever had and in my advanced years I've had a crapload of chicken salad. The have a nice sized coffee bar, decorated beautifully with some pretty delicious looking pastries. I'm on an anti-sweet phase so I'm basing my opinion on only on appearance. Then there's a seating area when you can eat, served by a friendly attentive staff and an adjacent boutique area where you can purchase housewares, clothing and other cool stuff. I'm not in Maplewood all that often, generally when I'm shopping at the equally awesome City Workshop but when I do, I always make sure to hit up Perch. You should too. 1/2 star deduction because they don't offer fake sugar, just that Stevia crap which is gross.

Happened to find this store by accident. I think the actual name of this store is Maker & Muse as…read morethat is what's on the receipt and store front. That said... Great store with jewelry and gift items. I always like to support local businesses because too many businesses are closing down. I fault that big online store with the letter A. Loved all the gift items, candles, lotions. I didn't need any gift items at the moment, but I could always use lotion and candles! After smelling a few lotions and candles, I purchased a lotion and a soy coconut wax candle with a beautiful scent of sandlewood, Palo Santo & Leather Hay. The make: POURED New York and the name of the candle is Palomino. I would have liked to give 5 stars as the ladies were pleasant and helpful with the lotion and they had a few beautiful items that would make great gifts. However, when I came home and burned the candle, it took an hour before I got a hint of scent. It was in my bedroom so after a half hour, I partially closed the door to see if I can then smell the scent. Couldn't close it all the way due to safety reasons. The smell was very subtle after an hour. Today I'm burning it in the living room and it's been an hour and I don't smell a scent. I'll burn for two more and see what happens. I spent $40 on this candle and I'm disappointed. I usually purchase candles from Yankee Candle and White Barn (Bath & Body's line) and after about 10-15 minutes you can smell it. Not this one. I would return to this store to purchase gifts when I'm in the area again, but would pass on the candles.

I finally got to stop inside Valley Vintage a few weeks ago. Cute shop with great inventory!…read more From the outside, it looks like only one level, but there are two floors below street-level. Each area of the shop is well curated and items are displayed with thought and care (I thought the basement was organized well IMO). I spent about an hour and a half at Valley Vintage to hit all of the areas, and some time was devoted to flipping through their records. This was well organized and some good finds. I ended up buying a copy of the original soundtrack from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on vinyl for around $13. It was in good condition and plays.
