Zizzi - Spaghetti Chorizo Carbonara and rustica Classic Pepperoni Campagna

Zizzi always has good food but this branch was particularly good and this was our nicest meal in…read moreany of their branches. When we arrived, we were greeted by really friendly staff. They seated us and we received complimentary pasta crisps. These were unexpectedly lovely. Slightly spicy and a great consistency. Our drinks arrived shortly after we ordered them. I had the white peach and raspberry refresher. If I'm honest, it was disappointing. The taste of mint completely masked any of the flavours advertised in the name. My partner ordered the Morello Cherry Refresher. He loved it and said it was amazing and fresh. I on the other hand thought it tasted artificial. To start, we shared Garlic Bread. It was a generous portion so perfect for two people. It was crispy but not overdone and had a great ratio of garlic oil. We actually got this for free as we are members of the Zizzi loyalty scheme. For a main, I chose the Chorizo Carbonara. The carbonara itself was incredible. Really creamy but not too sickly. The chorizo was quite salty, so if you don't like salt, this wouldn't be a good choice. The bacon was a little bit fatty but the larger pieces on top were perfect. My partner ordered the Pepperoni Campagna pizza. It had a lovely thin base which was cooked perfectly, however the crusts were crumbling away. It had a really good amount of toppings and a nice presentation. The chilli oil served with the pizza was one of the best we've tried. Unlike other pizza chains, you could actually taste the chilli. The pizza sauce was amazing. The restaurant had a good vibe overall, despite the fact we arrived shortly before closing time. There were still a lot of people there and the staff didn't seem disgruntled by the fact we arrived so late.

I'd give this place 3.5 stars, but since Yelp only likes whole numbers, The Botanist gets 3 stars…read more There was great décor, a hip atmosphere, and great cocktails, but the food and service left a lot to be desired. There were 4 of us there and when we got there we were told we couldn't get a table until 7:45pm (it was about 6:50pm), so we opted to hang out in the bar while waiting for our table. We enjoyed mulled wine and live music (the girl playing the guitar on Dec 7th was amazing) in the bar. At 7:45pm we asked about our table and were told it would just be another 5-10 minutes. Well we didn't actually get seated until 8:30pm. When we finally got seated, our server came over and took our drink orders but then disappeared for 15 minutes. We literally flagged down another server to ask questions about the menu and tried to ask him to take our order because we were starving, but she finally arrived back. We all got the 3-course menu and started off with the curry cauliflower soup and it was great, but it literally took 20 minutes to arrive. It's just soup, so we had no idea why it took so long. For my main I got the baked cod and it was mediocre at best.....dry, no flavor, just not good. For dessert I got the Bakewell tart at the recommendation of our server and it was dry and not great. I'd go back to the bar for a cocktail, but the food and service aren't worth the wait at all.

My 3 friends and I waited over an hour for a table around 7pm on a Tuesday evening. We figured it…read morewould be worth the long wait, after witnessing how business was booming at The Botanist. Unfortunately, after getting seated, it took another 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order, and another 45 minutes for our first course to arrive. Needless to say, we were disappointed by the slow dinner service. Famished, we rapidly inhaled our main course (my salmon kebab was delightful- I'd give the flavor and quantity 4 stars) & eagerly waited for the desserts to arrive. Again, disappointment set in when we took our first bite of stale, dry chocolate cake and an overly sweet tart. It didn't take us the full 3 hours into dinner service to realize that we wouldn't be coming back here again. Step up the service and dessert, and maybe we'll consider The Botanist the next time we're in town!

FIVE GLOWING STARS!…read more Can y'all say top 10 calzone of whole life? I CAN! Zizzi sits nestled at the base of the town center of Henley. It is quite an enormous structure. The seating on the main floor really opens up and the kitchen sits at the back where you can see the oven. The architecture is really pleasant and creative with a warm vibe accented by interesting art and such!!! Zizzi is quite deceptively large in size, there is also a bar upstairs which is quite a huge space. It was closed when I was there, but perhaps it opens at night. Anyways, I freaked out when I saw calzones on the menu, but didn't really see the type I liked. So I asked our waiter and he was glad to make my custom favorite: ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, pepperonis, and tomato sauce. When it landed in front of me I knew it was going to be quality stuff. I sliced and dunked in marinara as piece after piece of the amazing calzone entered my body. I WAS IN HEAVEN. This is a truly top calzone. As I said, top 10 I've ever had and I'm still loving it to this minute. My girlfriend ordered a thin crust pizza called mezzoe-mezzoe. It was very wide and served on a wood block. It also came with a personal Zizzi pizza cutter which we loved because we could cut any size of pieces we wanted!! I got to try it and loved the non-tomato side. Very high quality pizza. No surprise considering the epic calzone. Overall this place had all the small touches I wanted. Great service from a very understanding and nice waiter, amazing environment, and even custom Zizzi high quality silverware from Italy! Zizzi now. Zizzi forever. Calzone zone!!!

All the food, including the pizzas and pasta is very sweet. Again, kids - and it seems some adults - love this but it's not to my taste at all.
