    Three piece fish fry.

Celebrated my birthday with my sister and brother-in-law with a fish fry. Made reservations, and we were glad we did. Very crowded on a Friday night! Since my last review, this place has kicked it up a notch. Service was fast, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Definitely one of the top five fish fries in southeastern Wisconsin.

BF and I decided to take a "chance" on Chances and we are glad that we did! I'm a huge prime rib fan so I was excited to check out their "Prime Rib Saturday" specials. We loved our experience and the food was decent as well. Notes: 1) Make sure to make a reservation. We came on a Saturday night and had about a 40 minute wait. The dining area is super cute with white linen tables and candles. It was worth the wait. 2) Specials: BF had the all-you-can-eat rib special. He ate a lot of ribs and the ribs were delicious and great for the price. 3) Chili: my favorite chili ever is the bf's homemade chili but I will say that the chili at Chances is a close second. It has a homemade taste and they sometimes have it for Sunday Packers games. 4) Service: We had the most amazing waitress who was not only attentive but very sweet. She made great recommendations and was enthusiastic and very kind. 5) Prime Rib: To be honest it wasn't my favorite. It was just okay and I've definitely had better. The presentation was beautiful and the potatoes were tasty! The meat? It was just okay. However the amazing service and incredible chili will definitely entice me back to Chances!

What a great little gem in downtown Rochester. I was here about 24 years ago when I lived in the area and it was a great experience once again. Tom is a great hospitable bartender and humorous host. Had a few drinks at the bar before our reservation and chatted. We were sat punctually and taken very good care of by Carol. Started out with the cream of potato soup and cheesy broccoli soup. Delish. Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was also very good. My 2 guests had the filet and ribs and they both loved it. I had the steak au poirve with garlic pasta, which is a peppercorn crusted filet pan seared with a brandy Dijon cream sauce. It was phenomenal! Next time in town I will definitely stop again!!

Loved everything about it - old place, great service and good food. The ribs were awesome - can't wait to return.

Always good food and drinks are strong and inexpensive! Go on a weekday for the $10 specials or on a Friday for the fish fry.

But we weren't in a hurry. My friend had the Denver omelette which she enjoyed. I had the steak and eggs. While the steak was cooked to order, there was a lot of grizzle, so probably more than half of it didn't get eaten. Not sure it was worth the $23. On the upside, the hashbrowns were absolutely perfect! Portions were generous and it's a cute little place. It was quiet with enough parking. I wouldn't order the steak again or make a special trip for Cafe 36, but if you happen to be in the area, it's a decent place for breakfast. FYI: the menu prices are cash, for credit card payments there's a 3.5% up charge. The only mention of this is via a sign at the cash register. Also, alcoholic beverages were on the menu, but not available because they didn't renew their liquor license.

After she brought our drinks she left the table and didn't come back for quite a while. After finally taking our order, we waited for almost an hour before our food came out. I was happy to see that they were a vendor at the Waterford River Rhythms concert at the Village Hall Park. They offered a couple of sandwiches. We got one of each. The Italian Beef and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap. Both were good. The beef was tender, and so was the chicken. Couple of suggestions. They add the giardiniera into the beef. My preference is to have it available as a condiment, so you can add as little/much as you like. The wrap was large, and stuffed full of chicken, which would think was a good thing, but it could have benefited from having a bit more of the green salad fixings inside. To give it more textures and flavors. Also, they only have one type of potato chip, plain (and boring). How about offering another choice (Sea Salt and Vinegar)? Super nice service, and it's a reasonable value for what you get.

The variety of food choices was excellent (menu in pics). The staff did a great job of keeping the food filled. Place was decorated very cute for Easter. They did have a sign at hostess stand that if you were a party of 6 or less, you could have your table for 75 minutes. This made the older people I was with kind of "nervous" and worried about the time. The made-to-order omelettes were great. The carved ham had good flavor, but was cold. Everything else i tried was good. Brunch was $45/ person which seems high, but comparatively, seems like an ok price. However, on our party of 5, they added a "large party" charge which was 20% of the bill, which ended up being the tip. We didn't see our server much, but the people clearing dishes from the table did a good job coming around often.

They have multiple large TV's strategy placed so if you want to watch a game it's great for that. They have both high-top and regular height tables with the major regular height. We tried the Pot roast dinner, Mushroom Swiss burger, and the chicken dumplings soup. The soup had excellent flavor and was homemade. Only wish it had more dumplings. The Pot roast dinner came with three large, thick pieces of beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, and carrots. Everything was very good and something that I would order again. One part of burger patty was a little over done but the rest was much better. Ordered medium and it was more medium well but still very tasty and delicious. Our server was amazing and took great care of us. Also got to meet Mike, assistant GM, and really enjoyed talking with him. They have a large parking lot and I believe you can also pull up in your boat. Only recommendation I would have for them is the handicapped parking spaces are on the west side of the entrance and the handicapped ramp is on the east side of the entrance. Would be nice if they were on the same side of the entrance. Highly recommend Doc's on the Fox!
