The next day, I ended up in the ER needing emergency gallbladder removal. The ER doctor said this should have been addressed much earlier. After surgery, when I could barely walk, I needed a referral for a GI specialist. His staff member, Susan, insisted I come into the office even though my insurance confirmed it wasn't required. The doctor even said it was "not a big deal" to lose a gallbladder. Two months later, I was hospitalized again due to leftover gallstones. The hospital told me they contacted Chun Kit's office for a referral, but his staff claimed I hadn't been seen in over a year, which was completely untrue. In my experience, this doctor delayed my care, dismissed my symptoms, and contributed to unnecessary complications.

The front office staff of 3 long-time pro admins are superb always billing correctly and efficiently handling any question from insurance details (incredibly omplex stuff) to payments to scheduling all. The efficiency and speed of everything here with respectful professionalism and Dr. Chan's affable personable self make me return year on year. The ladies at the front desk are equally pleasant and really work hard for you. There have been a few times I have had to see Dr. Ahmed without insurance and they really helped me out. Try to go to Zocdoc to get her most up to date appointments, as she is super busy. She has this practice but also works elsewhere. Did I also say she speaks like 15 languages? I love her. Just taking my knee pains for example, when I had visited another doctor's office for convenience sake (they also had no wait time. It was 5 minutes wait max), they just told me they did not feel like anything was wrong and to just give it some time. When I went to Dr. Lau, he went into detail telling me what might be causing the pain, how my recent lifestyle changes could have impacted it and what I should do to ease the pain, even telling me how to look for the appropriate shoes. I believe that his medical information are sincere and not for the sake of selling the drug. The consultation fees are reasonable and he would not overcharge for his services. During the times when I have to pay out of my pocket, he provides discounts (upon request) and drug samples to help me out. Although it didn't make a big difference, I feel appreciated because the price reduction is only given out to his long-term valuable clients. I like his new office (less than 2 blocks radius) because it is much cleaner and roomier as compared to his old location. The staffs are always nice and cheerful. Unlike other clinics, their customer service team is polite and helpful regardless in-person or by-phone. I notice that they are really trying to assist instead of directing the inquiry to other parties and diffusing their responsibilities. One thing I do not enjoy is the waiting time. I always arrive there prior to my appointment and yet, I have to wait for at least another half hour for my turn. Why are they letting the walk-in patients (who arrived 5 minutes before me) to be seen first? What is the point of scheduling an appointment then? She is always so professional, approachable and patient. I was never rushed. She is very knowledgeable and uses simple Laymans term to explain the condition. The only downside is the wait! It is common to wait for three hours, with or without appointments. She only accepts appointment on workdays, no appointments accepted on Sunday. She is closed every Thursday and Saturday. During weekdays, you can still wait 2 to 3 hours even with an appointment. Walk-in are slotted between appointments. As a result, even you have an appointment, you are never seen on time. We went on a Sunday 8:50 am when office opens at 10 am. We were the second one on line outside the office. By 9:20 am there were 7 people. By 10:00 am there were 17 people. Dr Fung takes 10-15 min each patient. Go figure. For the receptionist Karen, she is stressed due to great amount of work. She is reasonable if you ask her politely. For starters, Dr. Ng has aided and cured almost every physical ailment I've come under during my tenure in this world. Whether it be a minor cold, or a horrid case of the flu, Dr. Ng has been there to given professional medical advice and prescriptions to aid in a speedy recovery. The usual appointment for Dr. Ng goes like this... Appointment Time: 10:00am Arrive @ 10:00am - Chun: "Hi, 10:00am for Dr. Ng" - Nurse: "Sure, please have a seat." Proceed to wait in the waiting room. Approximately 2 Hours Later... - Nurse: "Chun, the Dr. will see you now..." Into one of three examination room (aka, waiting room number 2) Approximately 20 Minutes Later... Dr. Ng: "Hi Chun, Great to see you again! Have you gained/lost weight (as weight fluctuations is a seasonal thing for me)? So... What's wrong?" The entire sit down time with Dr. Ng goes anywhere from 30-45 minutes. There's never any rush to get you out of his office as Dr. Ng has always been the type to sit with you to understand your ailments to give the proper diagnosis. In addition, he takes the extra step in giving preventative measures on how to avoid such future related susceptibility. All in all, good personal care physicians are hard to find. I've heard horror stories about doctors that won't prescribe medication when a patient requires it, or ones that don't listen to detail so they misdiagnosis an ailment, etc... Just to show, when you find a good thing, stick with it. In this case, I found a great doctor and in all likelihood, he'll be my PCP until he retires.
