She was incredibly kind, patient, and professional from start to finish. Vivian made sure the shape was perfect, the artwork was clean and detailed, and the colors came together beautifully. She consistently checked in to make sure I was comfortable and happy, which meant a lot to me. Her energy and vibe were amazing so positive, welcoming, and calming. I decided to give Chan & Bay Nails a try again (against my better judgment) after a previous negative experience 5 yrs ago.On New Years Eve, I decided to get SNS nails and a pedicure. I spent over $100 plus gave tips to both of my techs.My pedicure was serviced by Linda, who was sweet & did a great job on my pedicure.The quality of the SNS nails, serviced by John, was another story! Not only did they not look the best but within 3 days of my SNS nails, the nail on my index finger started peeling off from the base of my nail.I was not able to come back until the night before the snow storm, 1-9-25 to get it corrected due to my work schedule. Google stated they closed at 8pm.I arrived in the parking lot literally at 7pm and saw the OPEN sign was turned off so I called. The guy at the front desk refused to allow me to get it fixed after I explained I checked their salon hours on google, drove all the way there, and the nail came off in only 3 days. He didn't care and told me "everyone" knows they take the last customer at 7pm for the last 2 years.Clearly, not everyone! I suggested they change the hours listed on google from 8pm to 7pm because it's misleading & inaccurate.Nevertheless, he still provided terrible customer service based on the circumstances.He cared not one ounce since they had already taken my money + tips. First off I can't stand how nasty these people are, they be talking big shit about people and just thinking we can't under them. I attached the photo of what I wanted and what I got, I went back and got so much pushback even though that man knew those nails was a mess. I'm torn about this place. I'll just list the pros and cons and let people decide for themselves. Pros: -A very clean establishment in a predominantly black neighborhood, as it should always be. I really liked the upkeep and cleanliness of this place. Thank you. -We walked in around noon on a weekend and were immediately serviced. -All of our attendants were skilled and friendly. They also doubled up to do our feet and nails at the same time to get us out faster. Con: -The prices are literally highway robbery. It's obvious that they are charging high prices and nickel and dime you every step of the way. Every possible service is charged a la carte. For example a pedicure I picked was I think $33 with about $15 extra for it to be gel. Then there's a credit card charge that increases with the increased cost of your bill. My sister got her gel manicure filed down but they charged her a "cut down" fee. It was literally the same length but a change in shape. Two others while I was there were so shocked at their final bill. But you almost feel silly because they did do good work. Go figure! I did like the ambiance and the service was great. But please also look at the neighborhood you're in. They are poor and lower middle class and of course want to have nice things and feel nice. And are going to somehow find the money to get these services to feel included too. But it's almost like you're preying on the community to get rich. This was my first time visiting this particular nail salon and I'll say it was a good experience overall. I got there around 12noon on a Saturday so i was expecting it to be busy it was however i didn't have to wait for service. I received my pedicure from Lisa and i went with the #3 paraffin wax $33 and it was wonderful my feet feel amazingly soft. (Con: Lisa did try to pressure me into get gel polish for my toes but i was insistent on regular polish). I got a gel fil in with 2 half bling nails $36 forby jasmine and they came out super cute. The service was good and they took their time and gave quality service (which is sometimes hard to come by in a nail salon) i would definitely come back here Update: 6/12/19 this is about my fourth visit to the salon and first bad experience. I came around 4pm and they didn't appear to be overly busy but i had to wait close to 30 minutes just for my fill in. I was seated with John who I've never been to before and when i sat he asked what color i wanted and i said i had not decided and wanted to see the gel polishes. He appeared to be agitated by this so i asked him if there was a problem. His work was rushed and after he filed my nails he sent me to another nail tech for a polish with no explanation which i thought was quite rude. This is a newer shop as they've been open 3/4 months. I decided to give them a try since I didn't care for the old place I went too. Pros: they have a lot of gel nail polish. Some shops are so cheap and have Hardly nothing! The shop is very cute and has a Venetian theme with chandeliers etc. It was clean and the employees were friendly. I paid $61 for a gel full set and pedicure. I had designs that cost $10. Cons: the price board says the designs are 2/$5.25 but the tech told me AFTERWARDS that my designs were $5 each. I've been going to Chan and Bay since they opened on flat shoals parkway. Initially, they had very good techs, but over the years the quality of the services has declined and the surcharges have become excessive. I recently went to get a paraffin wax pedicure and eyebrow wax, and the lady I had was TERRIBLE. She had to repaint my toes due to them being sloppy (I had to ask for the repaint), and she placed hot wax down on my eyelid and it BURNED my eye. At this point, I was just ready to leave. When I went to check out, there was a surcharge for debit/credit and for each service I received. My total was over $50. Went for the first time with my mother in law on12/2 and it was wonderful. I asked they made sure to clean my cuticles well for my pedicure and definitely felt the attention to detail. I wish I had tried the paragon wax but the hot stone was lovely. I'm very specific about my shape for acrylics (I always tell my nails techs skinny, coffin, very thin) and absolutely loved these. These are modern day scammers. The shop is pretty, very clean and they do a great job. Their price change when you get to check it will leave you speechless. When I sat in the chair for a pedicure I asked for the #1 basic spa pedicure $23.95 at checkout they said $33.95 they explained there are two fees totaling $5 as a service fee because of Covid and a fee for using debit. Because the first pedicure lasted so long I decided to give them another try. I asked for the same thing a #1 spa pedicure expecting to pay a little less because I had cash. This time it was $43.95. They explained because I had gel before they did gel this time. I did not have gel the first time. He kept saying $43.95 until we came to a meeting of the mind. My daughter went in the next day with the intent of immediately saying no gel. After entering she hears a customer losing her mind. Although its 10 minutes from my house I will never return. This was one of the worst experiences i've ever had. The nail text was rude and aggressive. I never break a nail (which happened a lot with my old tech) there is no lifting and the set doesn't grow out as fast. Chan and Bay in Decatur opened maybe 3 or 4 months ago and definitely sticks out given their location. I mean this in a good way, as the interior is elegantly (although oddly) decorated and "fancy" with chandeliers. Still, prices are pretty average for the area. And they're currently still offering 20% off all services, which makes it a pretty good deal. I first visited during a weekday lunch hour to get a pedicure and gel polish. I got the basic, but they literally have 9 different types of pedicures you can get (price ranges from $19.75 to $59.75). The gentleman who greeted me in the front wasn't the friendliest or most helpful, but Rosie, my nail technician was pretty cool. There was some language barrier issues, but someone else was able to translate. I got a red glitter gel, and Rosie was helpful in recommending a base paint, which turned out pretty nicely. Even though I got the basic, which is supposed to be around 20 mins, I felt I got extra. And so now definitely worth it eith the 20% off. My total ended up being about $24 for a wonderful pedicure with gel polish. Will be back again probably Friday to get my nails done. read more

They use plastic bags to cover the pedicure bowls. Im giving 2 stars because it has a nice ambiance , but there is a few things that i would like to note... 1 - they have unnecessary charges, debit card charge and a charge for products like wtf ... they already charge 25 for basic pedicure compared to other places who range to about 20 for the SAME THING, so to add these random charges on-top is just another way for them to nickel and dime u, also ive never had to pay any fees with another salon regardless of the pandemic !!
