Have you ever heard the quote, "people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel" (Maya Angelou)? I did not feel the love at CC's. In fact, I longed for the days when it was Bison's and then I believe, it was Buffalo's before that - it's been there a while ya'll. I didn't realize those were the good ole, laid back days, before CC's took over. I spent many, many hours at the previous restaurants located here, primarily playing Brain Blast trivia, or enjoying a local band on the patio, picking up their delicious wings to go, enjoying a happy hour glass of vino, or stopping in after playing golf, or after hitting the nearby driving range. Back then, the place was packed with all walks of life and had a vibrant, friendly neighborhood bar look and feel and it was smoker friendly. It served mediocre wine knowingly and willingly at a mediocre wine price point. CC's corporate "rustic" bluesy feel is okay and they did a substantial buildout with several patios and a significantly larger bar and a nice upgrade to the parking lot - meaning larger parking spaces which is nice. The restroom, unfortunately, did not benefit from a remodel. I do not get to see my best friend, who's corporate office is adjacent very often anymore and we squeezed in a hour, pre-Christmas get together at CC's, meeting in the bar. The bar had 2 individuals and two couples as the hour progressed. Not a big crowd on this Thursday afternoon. Anyway, on to the consumables! For vino, your selection is an airplane sized Cavit Pinot Grigio @ 6.00 - this is the least flavorful pinot grigio on the planet. Additional vino selections include (I believe it was) 'house brand' red blend in a beer sized can (don't know it's price) which BF (and I agreed) was just blah. Last wine selections were Sterling Chardonnay (and I think a cabernet sauvignon) in larger screw top cans. I opted for the Chard and she opted for the cab sav. We both used the Sterling to try to amp up the drinkability of the previous wine selections. The sterling wines are priced at something like 9.75 each, and truly leave you feeling like a teenager sneaking a beer in the high school parking lot behind the baseball dugout. Discussing the fine qualities of cheese, we opted for the sausage, cheese and pickle plate. It tasted like kielbasa sausage that was pan fried, with nice sized chunks of cheese (never looked for nor saw the pickles but BF said they were present) with numerous toothpicks to eat with. With charcuterie boards being all the ravge now, it would have been nice to have it presented in something other than a wax paper lined basket. Still, the cheese was good and I had leftovers for the hubs. I think this dish was just under 10.00. Around twice a year, BF enjoys a cigarette. We ducked out to the patio to have one - well two actually, of course closing the door behind us but wanting to keep an eye on my purse which was hung under the bar (thank you for installing purse hooks!). ~ 8 minutes later the bartender came out on the patio (holding the door open the entire time) to scold us for smoking there and stating,"the whole bar smells like smoke now." We apologized profusely (no "do not smoke" signs were evident anywhere), extinguished the offenders and asked her kindly, to please shut the door (to prevent more offensiveness to enter the bar area). From this point on, we were not feeling the CC love and are certain some bar patron complained. I would suggest that CC's put up "no smoking" signs to make their policies clear and, speaking of smells - I would also like to suggest CC's deep clean the women's restroom which has an odd, noxious odor. read more

Only thing is I like them with Worcestershire sauce and they did not have any, so if you want some, bring your own! The food isn't awful, I just don't like fried food and they give you a heaping amount of it. Service is definitely lacking and WAY too casual. I honestly can't understand what's keeping them afloat, they should really expand the menu. Not hating on them, if you like fried foods, it's good. I just don't eat that much of it. read more

A firm four stars. We've been to the Ivy Green Champy's before and loved it, so we were excited to hear about one coming to the Huntsville/Madison area. We weren't disappointed! Like other Champy's, the atmosphere is kind of divey, bluesy, almost garage-y. When we first parked for dinner on Monday, we almost turned around and went somewhere else, as the parking lot was PACKED. However, we chanced going inside only to discover the restaurant is huge and there's a ton of seating space. We were seated immediately. The hostess and our server were both very pleasant and welcoming. Our food came out quickly, maybe a little too quickly in that our entree arrived less than 5 minutes after our appetizer. No biggie, though. Two small complaints about service: we never got refills and she didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Luckily, only one of us really needed a refill by the end of the meal, and we were so full we probably wouldn't have ordered dessert, but I still think it's the best policy to ask. As for the food, it was good to great! We started with the sausage and cheese plate. It wasn't as good as the one we had in Ivy Green; the sausage was a little too greasy and we only got one packet of crackers. But it still had good flavor and was a huge serving size for just the two of us. My boyfriend had the two piece white meat plate with beans and slaw, and I had the chicken finger basket with fries and Champy's sauce. Champy's sauce is pretty close to honey mustard (so I learned), so I got ranch for dipping instead. It wasn't salad dressing ranch, so that made me extra happy. Fries were crispy outside and soft inside and the beans were tasty. The slaw left a little to be desired -- on the too sweet side for us. The main event, the chicken, was great! Super moist, a good amount of breading, juicy white meat, and maybe just a tiiiiny kick (barely noticeable, but still pleasant). I was in Madison for a short weekend trip, and i had never been to the area before. I managed to go to Champys twice in 3 days because the food was that good. I had the smoked wings in two different sauces. My friends got different pieces of chicken, and through our entire group we basically had all of the sides. No one had any complaints. Food was out in good time and was clearly hot and fresh. We were impressed by the serving size of the fried green tomatoes, it exceeded our expectations. On the service side of things, everyone was incredibly nice to us and attentive. It felt like they were happy to be there and wanted to help, not just doing it because it's a job. It was noticable and really led to a better experience. I don't usually write reviews but i feel the need to because everything was so exceptional. read more

We stopped by for lunch this weekend and this was our first visit. We have been hearing good things about Champy's but are never in that area. We really enjoyed our visit. The facility is nice and everything was clean. The service was amazing and fast. I tried the buffalo tenders basket. The sauce was very good and the chicken is actual real whole chicken tenders. Not little pieces like everyone else is doing. We also got an order of the fried green tomatoes and they were great. I will definitely be going back to get my chicken fix. As of now this is the best place in town for some real chicken tenders, highly recommended. My only issue is the fries are those frozen fries that all the other fast food spots use. If they'd step up the fry game it would be perfect. read more

First the food and service was most excellent.... I had the chicken finger basket and fries with the chicken tossed in their buffalo sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection and their buffalo sauce was just hot enough that you could feel the heat but not over powering. My Dinning companions Had the Chicken Finger Basket and the Chicken Salad. Both commented how great the chicken was... Server was fantastic... The night we were there we got to enjoy the deck.. First time visiting because it just opened. I would Like to give it 4 stars but it took 30 minutes to get our food- it was hot. We were supposed to get two sides of green beans and after asking about them, still never received. The chicken was very good and finger breading was good as well. We will be back to try again. Quick: Very roomy on the inside, lots of menu choices, but very slow service on very simple baskets Review: I understand the place is new but it is a chain that exist in other locations what they have for the cleanliness they lack in speed. Upon ordering two simple chicken baskets, the wait has been clocked at 55 minutes. Service that has an established base and oversight from a franchise should not have this kind of mismanagement throughout the restaurant. Food was being expedited quite a bit around our table. Overall: This was the prime example of a restaurant trying but failing miserably at execution. I will attempt to give this location one more try. Kids Reviews straight from my child: This food is mostly flaky crumbs, but realized this after stuffing myself because I was so hungry. I think I would rather be satisfied eating something other than this. I realized that the four people that were sitting next to us got their food in 11 minutes, NOT 55 MINUTES. I know this is a new restaurant, but with all the good reviews and stuff, I think they could do so much better. Just a warning, there is not a kid's menu. read more

Slaw and green beans were tasty as well. We have been having a hard time finding a good place that serves great tenders. Seems like most of them over-cook the chicken or wrap it in a batter that closely resembles concrete. We will be back! read more

I've driven by this place a dozen times, and there are always cars in the parking lot. I just haven't stopped by until today. I had a lot going on and needed a quick meal, so why not. I walked in and was asked To Go or here? I stood there for a second, trying to decide, and the waitress said it might be a while for To Go and showed all the To-Go orders. Well, alright, here it is. I was seated, and the waitress showed up quickly brought a glass of water. I looked over the menu. I knew this was a "chicken" place, but it's an all-fried chicken place. I don't remember seeing anything grilled on the menu (not 100% sure). I ended up going with the fried catfish with is a favorite of mine. I ordered fried pickles (a personal favorite - especially spears), fried catfish, okra, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Food came pretty quick. The fried catfish was OK, no real complaints. The mashed potatoes were cold - yes, cold. The fried okra was the standard out of the bag frozen okra. I missed the cost of the fried pickles and that is on me. They were just under $10. I'm not kidding--$ 10 bucks for fried pickles spears. I'm sorry, but that's too much. IMO, I have never had fried pickles worth $10. I would go back for $6 but not $10. The waitress was all over it. I did not tell her about the cold mashed potatoes; I'm sure she would have made it right. She checked on me often, so excellent service there. Overall, I'm on the fence as for recommending. I got an order of fried pickles, an order of catfish with two sides, and the cost, including tip, was $29.50. IMO, this is not a $30 meal restaurant. read more

Interesting looking from the outside so we decided to give this place a try. Staff was friendly, service was good. The interior was interestingly decorated. The food wasn't very good. My wife ordered the two piece white meat chicken plate with okra and mashed potatoes. Her chicken was hot and tasted good. Her mashed potatoes were ok but not quite enough gravy. The okra was kind of greasy and wasn't very good. I had the two piece dark meat chicken with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. My chicken was not at all fresh. It was greasy and almost cold. My macaroni and cheese was the only part of my meal that I would say was hot. The flavors were just ok but nothing remarkable. Had my chicken been hot I probably would have given this place 3 stars. read more

This is a fairly new restaurant in the area and I had never heard of the chain before this one. I decided to give it a try. I ordered hush puppies as an appetizer and the 3 piece dinner with mac and cheese and green beans. Hush puppies were a little doughy for my taste. The chicken, however, was delicious! The coating had just the right amount seasoning and was not clumpy or hard. The meat was hot, tender, and juicy. The mac and cheese was okay but the green beans were on point. Choosing to use a sausage seasoning gave it a different taste that went well with the chicken. Again, just the right amount of seasoning. Table service was really good as well. Megan was very attentive and responsive. She made a point to stop by and check on me several times during my stay. So, thank you Megan (I am prob not spelling it correctly, I didn't see a name badge) for a job well done. You are an asset to this establishment. read more

Went to Champys last night for take out. Wife had the chicken strips with 2 sides $13.99. She said it was good and would have again. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was $14.00 with only one side. The chicken salad itself was pretty good but no where worth $14.00 especially since it was on a stale bun and only came with one side. I might be able to see that if you got 2 sides? I will not have again. I can go to Walmart and get a much better chicken salad enough for at least 3 sandwiches for $6 and theirs has grapes or cranberries in it. read more

I am very excited about a new fried chicken place in town. Unfortunately they do not have any alcohol yet, but hopefully will be getting it soon. The food was decently priced and a variety of options. The fried jalapeños were very good and I think paired well with the horseradish sauce they came with. The fried chicken was hot and juicy and was the perfect portion size. The fries were good but the mac n cheese could use a little more salt or something because it tasted pretty bland. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but I would recommend keeping track of sections because it seemed like every time I took a bite of food someone new was walking up to the table asking how everything was, and I had to stop what I was doing to answer. It's not that they weren't friendly, but it was really hard to enjoy my meal when I never got to just relax and eat. read more

Mmmmm.... Meh! I went probably expecting something a little more. I realize the whole COVID scare has made dining out not so much fun. It wasn't very crowded, I had been told how delicious the fried chicken was. We ordered some fried jalapeños. Good not great. The service was okay. People who came in after me were getting their food. She told us it was being plated. Fifteen minutes later she told us the onion rings I had ordered we're taking extra time. Five ten minutes after that I realized why. My food finally arrived and the onion rings were cooked to a tasteless char. I ate one and a half. Couldn't it stomach the rest. The chicken? This is supposed to be the star of the show. To be honest I don't get modern art so this to me was as uninspiring as a Jackson Pollock painting. Thrown together with little care and no real art to it, but at a pretty decent price for what your getting. The batter was flavorless. We all like moist chicken even if some of don't like the word moist, but this was almost soggy on the inside. To be honest I like KFC better. They have 11 herbs and spices. In other words a little bit of flavor. Hey they're fast food, but at least they're trying to have some flavor. As near as I could tell this had one spice flour. Ok it's not exactly a spice, or an herb and doesn't really have much flavor on its own, but it's all I could taste. It was really nicely fried to a perfect golden brown and crispy, but then you need some flavor. There wasn't. I asked for some salt and pepper. It really needed it. The bite through the flavorless breading led to a soggy chicken explosion inside your mouth. Yeah folks I know that doesn't sound good. It wasn't. Our service was ok. Like the chicken not real inspiring. I had heard tale of Champy's being legendary Fried chicken. I guess I should have researched the legend. It's ok, not the four stars people are giving it though. Based on the crowd or lack there of I'd say it's not a run away success. Champy's please turn on the Food Network and watch. All of these epic food stars season their food. Chicken is like a blank canvas. It needs some carefully crafted seasoning and artistry. Otherwise you end up with something like a Pollock. Something thrown on a plate/canvas that people will marvel in not the artistry, but the fact someone actually paid money for that. read more

This is my kids' favorite place for a take out family meal. The chicken tenders are ginormous, and the Champy's sauce is amazing!

Some friends and I came here for dinner and the interior gave me a Chuy's like vibe. I enjoyed it and the staff were very friendly, kindly moving a lot of tables around for our larger group. When I go to a fried chicken place for the first time, I always go with a chicken tender combo. I know, I know, very basic. But, it's just easier to eat and give me an idea about the place. I will say that the chicken was alright, I didn't find it amazing but just very normal good fried chicken. Personally I think I prefer spicy chicken so maybe that threw me off, but all of our sides were good so that was a plus. I also had a sprite and the waiter was on top of refilling it every time I came close to drinking it all. I don't know of many friend chicken places in Huntsville so I'll have to try some others and come back and review this place again :) read more

The food just didn't have any flavor. For example, I had the fried okra, and there was just no seasoning in the breading. So I would never go back there again because nothing has any flavor at all dated like deep-fried breading, and that was about it. read more
