I had a plumber to my house recently that changed filters on my reverse osmosis. When I called the office before the plumber came I asked what was their labor rate. They said $190 per hour. I had the filters on hand. The plumber just provided the labor and was on time at exactly 9am when he rang the door bell. He finished the job at 10:10am which should of been the end of his labor charge. He presented his invoice to me at 10:15am for $285 for 1 1/2 hours. I thought I was being courteous by saying I should pay for 1 1/4 hours of labor or $237.50. The plumber said the charge was for 1 1/2 hours. I paid the 1 1/2 hours and after the payment sent an email to the company requesting a $47.50 refund. I haven't heard a word from them about a refund. This is dishonest. Why should a consumer have to pay for more time on the job than time spent? Is there some kind of obligation to the company to pay for work not performed? I fully expect a $47..50 refund to be mailed to me or they can Zelle it. Otherwise, I would advise against doing business with such a company negardless of the proficiency of their plumbers. Bottom Line: Dishonest business practices cancels out any good work performed. Called for unclogging the bathtub sink and bathroom faucet sink in our condo unit. Two engineers arrived at 8:13pm, snaked the sinks, left at 9:16pm, and we were billed $570 (1.5 hours). Well, they were here for 1 hour and 3min. We know accurate time from the call logs and the smart doorlock logs. No problem to pay for their hours, but this seems expensive for extra 3 min. I called for a clogged toilet, and they sent a technician. The technician snaked the bathroom sink (because it was also draining slowly) and checked the main line, and then told me that the toilet needed to be replaced because it was too old. However, he refused to replace the toilet because he said that he did not have time today. However, it was only 3:30PM! Since they charge by the hour, even though he only spent 30 minutes he still charged us the full hour. The tech left with the toilet still clogged. They asked me to schedule another appointment to replace the toilet, so that they can charge me again for another trip! Needless to say, I will never use this company again. read more

Champion Plumbing has been our go-to plumber for several years now for our home and also for our multi-unit rental property. Both are 100+ year-old buildings that have a lot more plumbing needs than we'd choose to have. We have worked with most of Champion's plumbers by now on quite a variety of jobs, including several major ones (underground gas line replacement, main water line replacement, two complex full repipe jobs) as well as more modest projects (hot water heater replacements, replacing hose bibs). If your job is a large one that's going to take several days with more than one plumber, I would suggest asking that their owner Tim take a look and help scope the work and assign the right members of their crew so it can be done efficiently. All plumbers are expensive, but Champion is more reasonable than many, they're professional, and do high quality work. We recommend them highly! Our Water Heater stopped working Sunday afternoon, so I called the folks at Champion Plumbing; Tim talked me through options, and though they had a slot that evening, I opted to wait for a Monday morning. Steve came to my house first thing (he even came a few minutes early!) to inspect and diagnose my Water Heater. He determined the problem immediately, and recommended a replacement, along with a few alternatives. The option I chose was on-hand, so about an hour later, Jack and Robert arrived with the new Water Heater; they were very professional and knowledgeable. They did a really great job removing the old unit, and did a very clean install of the new unit. They walked me through the use of the unit, provided manuals and answered all of my questions. This was our second time having the folks at Champion help us with our plumbing needs, and they'll be at the top of the list the next time something comes up! read more

Giving feedback on my interaction with this company in the time of COVID-19: We're all supposed to be sheltering in place right now and the only reason I'm letting someone into my home is to see to the fact that I have mold growing on a wall where previous plumbing work had been done. I get a call from Scott indicating he is outside, so I put on my face mask. I also ask him if he is wearing a face mask, and he says no. I offer one, but am flustered by this cavalier response and am unable to locate any of my extra masks, so I ask him to use his own. He says he has to go back to his car to get one, which I ask him to do. What I want to know is why he was planning to enter into a client's home without a facemask during this time? Is this Champion Plumbing's standard operating procedure during Shelter-in-Place, despite the Santa Clara County May 22 order requiring all individuals to wear face coverings when at business, whether you are an employee or customer? Not cool. I ask him to come back when he has a mask, which he does 5 minutes later, at which point I ask him to take off his boots before entering my home because I do not wear shoes in my home. He says his insurance does not allow him to go without toe coverings. I ask him if he has shoe coverings then, since this is Cupertino and should be a fairly standard request by clients in this area. I have worked with many vendors before, including Comcast cable technicians, fire alarm inspectors, plumbers, contractors, and they always bring these with them. He says he needs to go back to his car to get them... And this is pretty much how the interaction goes, with what feels like a cavalier attitude towards safety and a lack of professionalism. I let him in because at this point, he is 25 minutes late from the time window their dispatcher quoted to me, and it's been 2 weeks since I first reported this mold issue to my HOA. After he left, I mopped my entire kitchen floor and disinfected all of the surfaces he touched, because he didn't bring or wear gloves either. Altogether, a disappointing interaction demonstrating a lack of compliance with current county-wide orders relating to COVID-19 or care towards customer concerns for safety and cleanliness. If you choose to work with this company, please be aware that you, as the customer, will need to stand your ground and ensure they comply with safety precautions. read more

Our kitchen had backed up and we called Champion plumbing for help. They were prompt and came within an hour on Saturday after being upfront with the cost for the weekend visit. Everything went okay with identifying the blockage and cleaning up the pipe but then when we happened to check a couple of days later we noticed the pipes were not tightened back and our cabinets are now swollen up due to the water leak We called up today to discuss the problem and are still waiting for a call back. read more

Follow up of 9-10-2021, since Scott did not stay long to check to make sure the hot water heater was working correctly in a short time after him leaving I found the hot water heater was not working. Champion plumbing quality of work comes with a taillight guarantee, it is only good for as long as you can see their taillights. I decided to replace my hot water heater with a tankless heater. I found a smaller company that believes in customer service and they gave me a reasonable price on a tankless water heater. read more

I've been using this company for over 10 years for a variety of plumbing services, including faucet installation, drain clearing, a recent hot water heater installation, etc. Last weekend, the main drain from our bathroom/laundry clogged and overflowed. Champion had someone out to look at it and diagnose it immediately. The repair involved clearing the drain and replacing a decaying cast iron pipe. I had a horrible experience with this company. First they sent me a plumber who showed up on Saturday to change the piping for a pedestal sink. Plumber was there for no more than 20 minutes and was already outside having a cigarette. He comes back in and says he needs another part which he didn't bring, even though he came the day before to see what work had to be done. Instead of getting the part and returning he said he would come back on Monday and left after being there for 30 minutes. Paul, came to help finish the job. He not only said I was complicated because I wanted the sink installed correctly and to line up with the light fixture. He didn't even install the sink properly. He said there were no holes to mount the sink and secure it. I look under the sink after he leaves and what do I find, two holes to mount the pedestal sink. Unreal!! Champion to the rescue! Jerry Melendez is a superhero with an invisible cape! He fixed the shower in my 72 year-old house. It was a big job! He had to go through drywall, cut and remove pipes (replace with copper) and install a metal plate on the tile shower wall. We had a blocked pipe, with sewer water backing up into a shower, very nearly overflowing; caught it just in time to avoid floor damage, but it was a very, very close thing. Champion was willing to come out at midnight on a Labor Day holiday to fix it, and no one else would. Had them install my water heater about four years ago. The water heater crapped out and it still is under warranty. Called them up to see if they will cover the warranty and they said it's up to the manufacture to cover the parts. Going back-and-forth for almost a week of the blame game with no heat in my water this Champion Plumbing has done nothing to help me solve my problem. The Manufacturer told me that I needed to flush my water tank once a year to release the sediment in the tank. The Manufacturer told me that it was the responsibility of the Company whoever installs the water tank to inform me of this annual task. Champion plumbing failed to do so and placed the blame right back on the Manufacturer stating that it was their responsibility to tell me. All that said it's been almost a week and I still have no heat in my water tank. The Manufacture has overnighting me a part and I'm going to have another plumbing service to take care of me. Champion plumbing didn't give a flying fart about my situation. They were rude on the phone and would not work with me to get my water heater fixed. All they care about is your money. They want to Nickel and dime you for everything. Don't trust them and they're way too expensive and overpriced on their services. read more

I'm not going to give too many identifying facts about my experience with Champion because it was just that shady. We found the business on Yelp, but I'm really not sure of the validity of the reviews because our experience was so terrible. I deal with professional vendors all day at work and was immediately wary of Champion's professionalism when, after taking off work early to meet the tech, he told me right before he was supposed to be at my home that he would be an hour late. Ok...but then I heard nothing from him for over two hours after THAT, making him a total of 3 hours late once he finally arrived. The end result of that evening was that I had to wait until 9:45PM to find out that the job could not be completed and that the efforts my boyfriend and I had made to separately coordinate the moving parts of our water heater repair were all for nothing. There were promises of coming back the next day to complete the job, but the next day went much the same as the first, and I had to make the executive decision to cut our losses and start over with a new company. The following day (with the new company) I had a new water heater installed in two hours and was left with nothing but a bad memory of Champion Plumbing. I will never be using them again and would not recommend to anyone who values their time or sanity. read more

Not sure other 5 stars reviews are from genuine customers or something else. I am not happy with service from this Company. I called them to fix the bathroom faucet that was very tight to operate. I suspected that it could be due to faulty "cartridge' so I mentioned over the phone (at the time of making appointment.) to service appointment lady that I do have new "cartridge' . Guy (I think Daniel, He did not introduce himself) arrived and parked his service vechile in my driveway. I requested to clear my driveway as my wife has to drive out from Garage. He gave weird gesture like I have requeted something unreasonable. Guy replaced the cartiridge in 10 minutes and about to leave. I tested the faucet and still it was tight. He was asking me for 1 hour labor without fixing my original issue of "tight faucet". He has no professional attitude of fixing up my problem irrespective of root cause. Semi-emergency situation at our property in Milpitas on a Friday night. Consulting Yelp, I called two plumbers in Milpitas (not Champion because they're listed in San Jose). I suspected I wouldn't get a call back on a Friday night and I was right. However, early Saturday I got a call from one of the guys I'd left a message for who was nice enough to tell me he wasn't available (out of town) but recommended Champion Plumbing because they have a guy in Milpitas. I called the office number for Champion Plumbing at 7:30AM and a woman answered the phone. Short story: she contacted their guy in Milpitas (Daniel) and called me back to tell me that Daniel could be at the property within an hour. He was there in less than 30 minutes, quickly snaked the sewer line and cleared the roots that were causing the problem. The knob broke on the parents bathtub. I called Champion Plumbing on a Friday evening. A nice woman answered the phone. She coordinated an appointment with one of their plumbers for the next day. I was given a time window and the name of the plumber assigned to the job. Daniel showed up within the time window. He took some time to evaluate the problem. He said it was fixable and gave me an estimate on the repair. My first thought was to replace the whole fixture. I even went to Home Depot the day before and bought a new one. Daniel explained that installing a new fixture would involve knocking a hole in the wall. My parents needed a fully functioning bathroom that day so I agreed to fix the exiting setup. He went to the store and came back with parts that matched the knob. The whole job took an hour from start to finish. The faucet was up and running with little disruption to my parents lives. Sometimes the simplest solution really is the best. I appreciated the honest and professional way I was treated from the first phone call to the finish of the job. read more

This is the second time I have used Champion Plumbing on Camden, and I am satisfied with the job they did both times. First time I had a leak in my shower from a remodel I had done years prior. It was fixed quickly and the price was fair. This time, I called them for a re-pipe, I had galvanized pipes, again, the job was done well and the price again was fair. The men were on time, mindful, neat and nice. The plumbing, price and time they took was fine, I did not like the caulking job they did for the pipes entering the house though. Great service, reasonable estimate, helpful advice. We had a leak coming from the upstairs tub and a number of other repairs around the house that I had put off. Paul arrived and did some testing. He had to cut through some drywall to tell for sure, that it was a leak in the drainage pipe. It appeared that the pipe was too short (probably a job done by the previous owner). He said it was a straight forward job to replace the section with the proper length. He also pointed out that my toilet was missing it's seal and that could lead to a leak down the road.
