AVOID CHAMPION, especially for HVAC. (Update at the end, posted 8 days after my original post--rating has not changed and AC IS STILL BROKEN). We used them for a couple years and thought they were decent, but their prices have skyrocketed and their service has gone off a cliff this year (found out today they were bought by Blackstone private equity this past February and now it all makes sense). Last week we called their HVAC dept out due to an external water leak outside where the indoor AC units were located in the attic. They flushed the lines last Thursday, one week ago today, and called it good. They didn't charge us as they had just performed this maintenance a month prior and it was still under warranty. Well, Sunday night the unit began making groaning/thumping noises and by Monday morning it was not cooling at all. So we called them Monday morning, and have been trying to get them back out ever since. They no-showed on us a couple days, and then yesterday (Wednesday) a WALL OF WATER started to come through our living room roof/attic floor. We escalated the call to an emergency and they promised they'd come out today (Thursday again), sending official confirmation notices and everything. As I had taken multiple days off waiting for them to come and they did not show, I had a meeting I could not miss today and they told me they could work around it. 2 minutes after their service window was supposed to start, they cancelled on us AGAIN. "Due to a high volume of emergency calls" as if water pouring through my ceiling isn't an emergency! Luckily we had expected this from them by this point and had already scheduled a backup service, who came exactly on time (in less than 24h notice) and is helping us now. Also, their prices are insane. Though they do honor 2 month warranties on their work which is good because we have to get the same thing fixed multiple times before it actually stays working lol. So I guess that's nice of them. I will say, their drain/plumbing team is cool! Gilbert and Joshua were a pleasure to work with for our shower drain (clogged with hard water buildup) and if this company has any redeeming qualities, it's them. If they ever go independent we'd happily work with them again, but unfortunately we no longer trust Champion as a company and will not be using them in the future. Update: last Friday, the afternoon after I posted this review, Champion FINALLY sent out a repair tech. He told us the issue was that the housing for the coil, where it interfaces with the control panel, was not sealed properly, allowing too much humidity to accumulate on the coil. He also told us the condensation drain setup was inappropriate for the size of our unit. He fixed both the same day and told us that would solve the problem. We were so hopeful! Our AC seemed to work again... for a couple days. By Tuesday of this week, however, the temp in our house began to creep up again. By Wednesday, OUR AC WAS AGAIN POURING WATER THROUGH OUR LIVING ROOM CEILING--it was so loud it woke us up in the middle of the night. We called champion out again, and this time a different repair tech came out told me the blower motor for the downstairs unit was out, the area around it was full of ice, and it appeared based on the filters that the motor had been out for some time. 1) how did something as basic as that get missed for TWO WEEKS. 2) why does every repair tech who comes out tell us something totally different? Either way, both jobs (resealing the coils housing + redoing the drain system, and then replacing the blower motor) fall under warranty. But only because Champion was the company who originally messed up the installation and/or installed bad parts. Because they had to order another blower motor, WE ARE STILL WITHOUT WORKING AC. It's been about 2.5 weeks in the middle of August, I am chronically ill, and we have 8 animals who are suffering too. If they ever do actually fix the damn problem, I'll let y'all know. read more

I have had a maintenance contract with Champion Svs for several years. This year they are refusing to service my AC. They they are telling me because I had my Heating maintenance in Feb they can not do AC maintenance until September. That is the time AC season is over. When I signed up for maintenance the only requirement was I could get 2 free service calls per year. I must schedule at my convenience because they will not call to schedule the service calls. Now they are refusing to schedule on my availability. Do purchase maintenance from this company because they will do everything possible to not adhere to the signed contract. read more

Scheduled ac yearly maintenance for today 7/13 from 8-12. No call no show. even confirmed appt with text today. Called office mulitple times past 12 today. Met with sarcasm etc and now told no appts til October. I bought a very expensive system from them back on June 2019 and have a 10 year warranty. Over the last year it's increasingly difficult to not only get an appt but for them to now even show up. They will try to respond that it was cancelled however that was for an electrical appt no this one. They know this and I have the text chain to verify that. read more

We purchased an entire new AC system through them. The system has stopped cooling completely, leaving our home at unbearable temperatures. They are now making my family wait 5-6 days before coming to address the issue. Zero urgency, zero care. They were more than happy to take my money, but apparently couldn't care less after the fact. My 6 year old unit purchased and installed by Champion has stopped working 3 times in the past 2 years. Service times are ridiculous. I am a senior citizen and have been without AC since Monday. Was told by Champion the next available appointment would be today Thursday with a window of 8-5. I called this morning and was told I had been moved up the list and someone would be here by 12. It is now 4:30 on Thursday and nothin, not even a courtesy call. I called again a few minutes ago and was told by call center person that I have been speaking with AI and they don't know the schedule. Jose, Christina and Ashley were all live employees not AI. Just another excuse for unsatisfactory service. I have the 10 year warranty membership plan. Waste of money. read more

The service technician was very nice and personable but it took three separate visits to diagnose the blower motor was not functioning. We got quoted about 2k, thankfully I got the gut feeling to get a second opinion. The next day the other company came to diagnose and had the part ordered and everything fixed by the end of the week. For half the price I'm glad I went elsewhere. Honestly if it didn't take so long to diagnose I probably would have went with Champion. read more

Ridiculously long waits to schedule service - like two months. (I called in April for today's service.) We had a 12-5 window for our semi-annual maintenance check today. I called at 4:45 since we had heard nothing. All they could tell me was that we were next. The tech called shortly thereafter to say he would arrive in 55 minutes to an hour. NOT acceptable. We have plans and should not have to wait an hour after our appointment time to even get started on the appointment. I called to say we would not be able to do today, and they said they would not be able to see us until August! (Although they looked and found a July 31 appointment.) I'm sorry, y'all overextended yourselves, and missing the appointment was on you. I should be prioritized into an emergency slot then, or shoehorned in somewhere over the next week. You can't tell me you can't sneak in one quick maintenance appointment somewhere in that time. By the time I get my summer check it will be time for the winter check, but I guess I better call now so I can get that before 2026. Oh, and I guess I'll take the 8-12 slot and clear my whole day so I can still be seen even if you're over an hour late. read more

We called Champion because our upstairs AC stopped cooling. When the technician arrived, he did his "inspection" and told us that it was leaking Freon. He told us that because the unit is older, it would cost $3000 to fix the leak but he recommends replacing the unit because it's just gonna keep happening. We decided to think it over and ending up calling another company to get a second opinion. The other company's technician did an inspection and told us that someone had turned the ac unit off at the outside breaker box. He told us that the Freon was full and there was no leak. His guess was that the coils had probably overheated or froze causing the ac to temporarily stop cooling. He flipped it back on and within an hour the upstairs was 10 degrees cooler. He felt so bad that we had gotten scammed that he didn't even charge us a service fee. I am so tired of companies like Champion scamming people out of their money. We have used Champion for several projects in our home and even have their membership. We have literally spent over 30k with them on AC, electrical, and plumbing services. Now I wonder how much of that work was a scam. We will be cancelling and never using them again. I will be sharing my experience with anyone that will listen.
