Excellent service and super friendly staff! And, they actually have "good" coffee --the little things matter!

The lady at the front desk said "so you are coming though". I said "oh yes ma'am, I am on 26 I'm just running late". Lady said "lucky man". I get there and was told that I couldn't be seen because they had a 4 o'clock and there add-in was longer than expected. While sitting out here filling this out the 4 o'clock showed up at 4:20. They sure did let her keep the appointment. When the doctor told me she couldn't see me, she was not even polite about it. If someone calls and says I'll be there in a few or I'm running late. Just go ahead and tell them whether or not you'll be able to see them or not. Do not go to this eye doctor. It was just Rudeness and a waste of my time.

The man still never got the nose pads flat and never checked the bend behind his ears. My son told the optician that things seemed weird. He dismissed him saying well just wear them. if they still seem off by Monday come back in. I couldn't believe that's all they did for a kids first pair of glasses. We weren't halfway home before his head started hurting and he felt a sick to his stomach. I didn't feel confident taking them back to the same optician so I had the glasses checked somewhere else. Found out the lenses were in backwards-like left lens was put in right side eye wire and right lens in the left. The optician who checked them for us put the lenses in correctly and instantly my son said, wow that's so much better. I can imagine. He got those glasses because the eye check at dmv for his permit showed a problem with his vision. Thank God we found someone to fix them before he actually wore them to practice driving.

I am in my forties, and originally from New England. This place is the worst doctors' office I…read morehave ever been to. Aside from the fact they are set up like a DMV where dozens of patients sit in rows of dismal chairs in a large room waiting for their name to be called, the staff is brusk, rude and lacking in empathy and human kindness. New to Asheville Eye, I was diagnosed with a problem with my retina during a routine eye visit. The visit itself was terrible. I was passed off from one technician to another for tests, and saw my doctor for only five minutes. She did not even take the time to explain my eye problem to me in person. I was told she would follow up with a phone call the Friday after that visit, but she never did. I had to find out the results of my eye tests when I called the receptionist days later. The receptionist used words like "degeneration" and "retinal detachment" that scared me. I remained scared for a few days until my doctor finally called to further explain my condition to me over the phone. She suggested I see a retina specialist, which I did weeks later. That visit was even worse than the first. Dr. Cameron Stone also took no more than five minutes to see me, and he, also, did not explain my condition to me at all. The entire five minutes he barely made eye contact, but dictated notes into a recording machine while his assistant sat typing at a computer. I felt invisible. I left confused about my condition, told to come and follow up in three months. In neither of these visits was I given any clear notes by the doctors to take away that explained my condition. The sheets they gave me were written for doctors in doctors' language. I filed a complaint with the office manager about my experience, and she handled this by setting up the follow-up with a different doctor. As it turned out he was not a trained retina specialist, so that visit was a waste of time as he did not even dilate my eyes, so could not check my problem. Now, four visits later, today, I finally saw the second retina specialist and finally learned the details of my eye condition. He also only took five minutes to talk to me. He actually told me that he had to go after about five minutes because he was in the middle of a laser surgery in the next room! This visit, I insisted that this doctor print out notes for me explaining my condition. It turns out it is a serious one that it could result in loss of vision. I only today grasped that reality. Why did no-one take the time to properly explain this condition to me? I have had symptoms for months and expressed them at all appointments and none of these doctors connected those symptoms to the condition. I feel that none of these doctors wanted to deal with the stress and anxiety of conversing with a patient who learns they have a potentially vision threatening condition. They did not want to take the time to explain it to me. Or perhaps, they did not HAVE the time to explain it to me. Either way, the fact is that patient well-being comes last at Asheville Eye. Another fact: Of the four doctors i've seen over the course of four months, they have all told me conflicting things about my condition. I am left confused and frustrated and I am going to find another doctor. I am absolutely horrified with the way doctors at Asheville Eye treat their patients.

Imo uncaring staff, rushed medical care and poor outcomes requiring second opinions and better healthcare elsewhere. Last time I will ever go here. A new policy, to extract more income, is to initiate a medical conversation about something in your file and then charge the insurance company or you. When I called billing, Cathy was rude and disrespectful. She told me it was my responsibility and she could not change it. When I pleaded with her to talk to the doctor (this was right after Hurricane Helene and I was out of work), she said she would ask and get back to me. She never did and they charged my credit card without my permission. Once again, Cathy was extremely rude and belligerent, explaining how it was my fault because I didn't tell the front desk I wanted an appointment with no medical conversation. She was unprofessional, unkind and condescending the whole time. I shared the experience via other staff (who were wonderful) and asked for a manager, but neither the doctor nor a manager ever contacted me to apologize. Choose another eye doctor. The wait is very long. But if you do, make sure you tell them---no medical conversation billing! I am waiting to hear back from my insurance company via my concerns. For all who are still struggling due to Hurricane Helene, my heart is with you. Compassion. Hang in there. Best wishes.
