DO NOT EAT HERE We tried this place recently and it was a disgusting experience. There were actual bugs in our donuts, we didn't notice until after we had eaten them. Not only is that completely unacceptable, but it also led to food poisoning and painful stomach cramps shortly after. So this boba is lowkey the best you can around here and it's open 24/7 and after 9 you order at the window (posted the sign). Today I came at 8:40 to get donuts and a Thai tea and this guy you see in the kitchen, in the picture, completely ignored us for 10 minutes. I've been coming to this particular donut shop on and off for a few months now whenever I wanted to buy some donuts for the office at work and I can safely say that their donuts are about as legit as any other Asian-owned donut shop. It's cash only so do stop by the 7-Eleven that is in the same plaza to grab some cash. They do have an ATM machine inside though. I believe their 1 dozen donuts is basically $1 per donut. Add in tax and it'll cost you about $12 and some change. Round it up, and it's about $13 altogether to be safe. The first time that I was here, I ordered 3 dozen donuts and the lady owner threw in an extra two donuts. The second time around, I bought 2 dozen donuts and that time, she threw in some donut holes. Basically, glazed donuts holes, that is. Pretty neat, all things considered. Not sure if that's customary and to be expected but I'll take free extra donuts or donut holes. It bears noting that I let the lady owner (I think?) decide which donuts to include so I'd imagine that she chooses those donuts that don't sell well or have been sitting but hey, donuts are donuts. Even if they've been sitting, they still frickin' taste like donuts. Enough said. One reviewer noted that the lady never smiles to black customers. Mmm...you have to keep in that this is an Asian-owned donut shop. Typically, Asian-owned shops don't really show much of that familiar 'American-styled' customer service. Except maybe to her most loyal of customers that visits the spot everyday for their breakfast meal. I can reliably vouch that she never smiled at me either but hey, I'm Asian--a super tall one at that--so I don't personally care if she smiles or not. You want smiley service, go to Krispy Kreme, Yum Yum Donuts, or some other American donut chain. This is a mom and pop donut shop for crying out loud! It's a small shop. No more than maybe ten tiny tables and chairs inside. You can certainly dine in for your breakfast meal, which some of the regulars do but I think it's more of a grab-n-go spot, if anything. Another reviewer mentioned something about 24/7 service at the side window. I'm not sure where that reviewer got that information from because that wasn't found anywhere on the internet when I looked it up. And if there was a sign stating as much at their shop, I suspect that the sign was a remnant of the previous tenant that also happened to have been a restaurant of sorts. For those that don't know, Champion Donuts wasn't always at that spot. They are the most recent tenants for that retail space. Before that, it was a Mexican dine-in restaurant that specialized in fish and seafood or something like that. They didn't survive. Before that, it was another Mexican restaurant that also didn't survive. And before that, it was a shitty donut shop that I'm not too surprised that they, too, didn't survive--mostly because they kept messing up simple orders. It's like how do you mess up stuff like 1 dozen donuts? Just count 1 through 12 and you got a dozen but without fail, they always messed it up. If memory serves me correctly, I think it was a donut chain that just wasn't making the cut so they decided to shuttle that specific location. Anyway, Champion Donuts is the best no-frills donut shop in this part of Lincoln Heights. If you want tasty 'basic' donuts, this is it. All in all, I recommend this spot, if you're craving donuts. They do serve breakfast meals and make Thai Tea and Smoothie beverages so do note that when you stop by. And they also sell lottery tickets as well, which is, well, stereotypical but hey, if it works, it works. read more

I'm glad that there is a decent donut/chinese food spot around the corner from my school. They have great breakfast croissants here. I usually get the sausage, egg, and bacon croissant. They use kielbasa instead of breakfast sausage and is the BOMB.COM!!! Shrimp lo mein and egg rolls are also solid buys here. My students also like to get their fried rice. Don't expect P.F. Chang's when you get food here. I would equate it to Chinese fast food quality in NYC. It doesn't come out as quick, but it's greasy and delicious. The donuts are very good and affordable here, too. I wouldn't come here too late in the day, as the high schoolers tend to clean out this place. read more

Is it possible to give a shop more than 5 stars?! This is my GO-TO for Friday morning donuts to treat my office and staff for a hard week's work. The sweet Asian lady who is almost always manning the front recognizes me and asks "A dozen donuts for you?" as soon as I walk in. There rarely is any sort of a wait which is great for me because I'm always running late and don't want to run even later because I am getting the office breakfast. She always sweetly gives me a 13th donut and to this day I am amazed that I am only paying $9 for 13 of the best donuts ever. Now, onto the main event, the donuts!!!! Lets just say these are the best, most fresh, most amazing donuts I have ever had! A lot of love goes into these donuts and they taste like they were made just moments prior to them landing in the display. I've had them all, glazed, sugar, maple eclair, chocolate eclair, Cruller, cake, Cinnamon braid, Raisin and all have been OUTSTANDING. These donuts are so fresh they stay good for a few days afterward. I just pop them into the toaster oven for a few minutes and they are amazing. I'm so happy that Champion donuts exists and almost didn't want to leave this review because you fellow Yelpers might clean them out before I roll in there on a weekly basis (this has happened where they were short on supply a few times). read more

This place is 5 star in my eyes. I've come here close to ten (10) times now and the donuts are always fresh. I've always come in the evening and the baker guy is usually busy making donuts. Maybe that's why they are always so fresh for me. They are like $0.60 each or so but cheaper in bulk. When you go at night, it looks closed but they have a sliding window outside for you to purchase. The prices have gone up but she's added more sizes( before it was one size cup) and she's kept the buy 2 get one free deal. I've been coming here since the people opened or took over rather and its a great spot. Open 24hrs. Staff is wonderful and they know their clientele, in that they put delicious jalepenos in all their sandwiches. Of course you can have them with out, if you ask. Coffee is great, service great and the food delicious, prices are the best. U get a breakfast bagel and coffee for well under $6 bucks and im not hungry til afternoon. Its not flashy, its not Noah bagels its a neighborhood doughnut shop and its great! They also have other food items like shrimp fried rice, burger special and a whole variety of specialty drinks. Awesome donuts, every time I bring them to the office, my coworkers ask me where I got them from! I had a craving for a donut one evening after work, and when I bought a donut at 6:30pm, the donut was still floofy and amazing, it didn't taste stale at all. I've gone to some other donut shops that have stale donuts by the time it's past lunch. They also have one of my favorite flavors of ice cream, Thrifty's Black Cherry! So goooddd! Great counter service! The donuts are standard, yet fresh every time I go in there. I usually end up stopping on my way to Downtown to pick up a dozen for the office. Food is pretty good and cheap, but that's about it. I discovered this place with my girlfriend when we moved out here and we decided it would be our little diamond-in-the-rough type of experience... but it was not so. Staff does not wash there hands when preparing food, and one woman actually went and handled money in the middle of making a sandwich and then continued making the sandwich without missing a beat. (They don't wear gloves either.) Oh, and if you complain about your order being wrong they will stop serving you! Isn't that nice customer service? I went in twice with my girlfriend after getting into a small argument with the woman who worked there and the woman refused to take my order both times. Went there around 7:30 pm because I heard they had great donuts, but I guess one has to go early to get fresh ones. Makes sense, but I just wish donut shops would have fresh ones at night too.
