Tom, Sarah, and their crew are professional, responsive, and were always available to take our questions during the buying process. They have also been extremely reliable with handling minor tweaks during the initial move in stage. This company recently clear cut a woodwd lot and put up a house in our Cape Cod neighborhood. Aside from the fact that they didn't use a single local contractor they also left the neighboring property a mess with disgusting smelling driveway shells just dumped in the woods as well as water bottles and a 20' length of runoff barrrier. When we first started looking at the neighborhood Champion was building, we asked if there was an HOA, and stated that we were not interested in building if there was one. We were told that there was no HOA. A year and a half later we found out they had lied to us and there was one. Not only was there an HOA, but language referencing an association was on the deed when Champion purchased the land and was no longer on the deed that we received. They had also told us that the road would eventually be accepted as a public road by the town, neglecting to tell us that the deal the town made with the developer was that the homeowners would take care of the road. When confronted about this, Champion claimed they disclosed a written document that there was an HOA, which is not true. Champion was also unprofessional, especially when it came to responding to emails or phone calls. We would have to reach out multiple times in order to get an answer or to have them come out. It took months of unreturned emails to get them to finally get through most of the punchlist. There were things that we stopped asking about in an effort to prioritize. Many shortcuts were taken with the building of our house. Our yard was in bad shape when we moved in. They had barely watered it. The front was sod, and it was pretty much brown all over. It took hours of moving hoses around each day for weeks to bring it back. The back yard was hydro seed. They had just put a sprinkler in the middle of the yard for awhile each day. So the middle had huge puddles and dead seed. The rest was just burned out dead seed. We eventually had to pay someone else for all new topsoil and seed to get a back yard. Our garage floor was gouged up before we moved in. Champion's fix for this was to sloppily patch up the spots. They're an entirely different color and so large as to be quite obvious. At one point we were finally about to have the painter come back to fix all of the nail pops, but he never showed. So we had to reschedule yet again. The outside painter was scheduled to come at a different time, and they also did not come when they were supposed to. In both cases there was no communication that no one would show. They just didn't come. We had an inspector come out right before we closed, who found many things we wouldn't have known about that needed to be fixed. If you choose to use Champion, get everything in writing and definitely hire an inspector. read more

We just moved into our new build by Champion in September 2021. Tom kept the project on track and we finished on time! Quicker than I originally expected. Paula was great design taste and helped us pick out our tile. Paul and Sarah also helped us along the way giving their opinions and guidance, and we're friendly and professional. We get so many compliments on our home and the finishes and we look forward to being in our beautiful new home for many years! read more

When we chose to build with Champion Builders back in January 2020 we had no idea what we were in for. We were looking forward to building our new home and anticipated a fun and exciting experience. Instead, we experienced 7 months of lies and deceit. The first lie told to us by Champion Builders was that there was no HOA in the new development where we were building. This turned out to be false, there was indeed an HOA. However, we were not informed about this until after we were already settled into our new home. Next, we were deceived about the lot we chose. We were going back and forth between two lots, one of which had an easement right on the property line. We had a lot of questions about the easement. We wanted to know what it was for and who was responsible for maintaining it. We were told it was there for the drainage pipes underground which led to a drainage basin behind the lot. We were told the neighbors on either side of the easement would do the neighborly thing and take turns cutting the grass. Champion owner, Matt Dacey, even said, "I personally think the easement is simply added yard space and buffer to next lot over." We ended up choosing this lot with the easement, and didn't find out until well after our closing and we were already moved in, that they would be putting in a public walking path connecting our street to two other neighborhoods. Had Champion told us the truth about the easement and was honest with us about a public walkway going in there, we likely would have chosen another lot. In addition to all the false information we received, their communication skills and professionalism are lacking. Specifically, Paul Dacey, the "project manager" was terrible at responding to e-mails. And anytime we pointed out one of his many errors, he would immediately become defensive and go into attack mode. He even sent a scathing e-mail to my insurance agent because he didn't "appreciate her tone." Lastly, the build itself had many errors. After moving in, we came across light switches that were installed upside down, and even one that had no plate cover. Sections of our hard wood floor were not stained, and a custom mirror that we were promised was forgotten. There was even one cabinet in the kitchen that was not the same paint color as the rest. To say we were disappointed in the craftsmanship is an understatement. read more

They completely screwed my over! Don't do business with them! We agreed on a price of 365k for a unit at turtle pine village, sent written offer over to their office only for them to change their mind and decide to not sell to me. Their reasoning was that they were going to complete the unit in September and then put it on the market for 389k!! This is a horrible business practice and speaks to their greediness read more

On my very first encounter with Champion Builders of Kingston, MA I posed the question as to whether or not the community I was considering in Plymouth would have an HOA to which one of the owners replied with a FIRM No. Very glad with this finding I signed a contract and began the building process with them in February of 2019. Skip two years and I have now discovered that the entire community (29 homes in total) was equally misled by Champion and not informed of the existence of an HOA for our neighborhood. Unfortunately, the issues do not end there. The entire process with Champion builders was inefficient and exhausting to say the least. It took over 2 months to get basic questions answered just to get the job started. Mistakes were repeatedly and regularly made due to lack of communication between their project manager (Owner's son with absolutely no knowledge of the industry and the build process), and mediocre contractors they could find to do the job. As a result of the above a July 2019 close was pushed out to November of 2019 (at only 95% completion) causing me additional costs in storage and forced me to move twice instead of one time during those additional months . Had I not done my own due diligence in getting rates from different vendors I would have falsely owed Champion over $6,500 at closing. During this process I also came across several vendors who have been flat out forbidden by Champion to disclose costs to owners so allowances mean nothing if you are forced to use their vendor who then will not disclose the actual cost for your chosen items. Further, I was repeatedly bullied by the owner (Matt Dacey) to not be demanding in asking for agreed upon scope to actually be completed properly. This unprofessional behavior continued when I chose not go with Matt Dacey's preferred mortgage broker rather than the bank and rates that worked best for me. He went as far as suggesting that I close with his guy then refinance after 30 days with my chosen bank. On closing day (November 8th, 2019) I was once again bullied into closing with a long outstanding punch list which to this day still remains incomplete. I have dozens and dozens of emails to show the lack of interest on Champion's part to address my concerns. For starters Champion's poor landscape and grading of my backyard has cost me over $17K to repair a massive drainage issues. They were fully aware of this problem and chose to neglect it. Additionally, for a whole year I did not have a streetlight as they claimed that the ground was frozen. Meanwhile they dug 3 foundations and moved forward with building the remaining homes around me. It took an entire year for Champion to address a bowed garage to mudroom entry door (allowing exhaust, hot and cold air to enter my home). They were repeatedly reminded that that was against code and unacceptable with a toddler and a newborn in the house. Throughout the construction phase I would be asked to not show up to the job site until we scheduled a walk through and yet every time I did pop in major things were left out or forgotten. (i.e. Bulkhead was built instead of a Dog shed (In contract), Two different color shingles were installed on my roof (this took many requests and 4 months post closing to fix), Weathervane never was installed (as agreed upon), and Matt Dacey jokingly asked me for $2,600 to install it (a 20 minute job that cost me $120 to get done privately). Further, sinks and baths are still missing caulk, floor tiles still missing grout,.... I have 4 window frames in the basement that were damaged by their negligence when pouring concrete. I could go on and on as to how many corners were cut and how many issues were knowingly and willingly ignored by Champion. My hope is to help as many innocent buyers as possible out there in making informed decisions in picking out their next builder. read more

Just one more review on Champion Builders. Champion never shared with any of the buyers in our sub division that there was a HOA and that the town would never accept the roadway as a town road. Just another reason that you should think twice before you do business with champion. I will say it again you get what you pay for and Champion uses lowest bid contractors to do all their work. I had to have my floors down 3 times and still have issues with the finishes. I took over I year to have Champion finish up the todo list from our walk through. I had to threaten civil action to finally get him to send his painter to fix the many issues with the walls and ceilings. Many of my neighbors are still waiting or preparing for litigation. Still experiencing issues with our new home purchased 2 years ago. Ceiling seams are starting to crack in several areas. You will start to see many new reviews similar to this from our neighborhood so this is not a one off disgruntled buyer. You know it is not going to get better when you hear his line "this is not my first rodeo". read more
