The course was recently rehabilitated and has better fairways, landscaping, and maintenance than in previous years. The layout is challenging without being too difficult for weekend golfers. The greens are fast but not bumpy and the fairways are in good condition. The length can vary from PGA yardage to average via four tee placements. Staff and other golfers are very nice. Slow groups let others play through. Green fees are very reasonable and the cart fleet was recently replaced with new gas powered Club Car carts. There is not much elevation change throughout the course, but other challenges make it interesting. The greens are large but sculpted to test your ability to read breaks. Sand traps and water hazards are located throughout the course in strategic locations. There are some homes along the course, but they are located far enough away from the fairways and on large forested lots so as not to encroach on the natural beauty of the area. The clubhouse has a full breakfast and lunch menu, a large screen tv, and nice furniture. Overall a very pleasant golfing experience.

I will say the table reservation was interesting. They have a lot of tables labeled reserved but no one is sitting there. I tried to ask a waitress about my table and said you have to reserve one and ran away. She didn't even let me finish my sentence. I asked another waitress and she listened to me and found my reservation and apologized for the other waitress' behavior. The manager did come by to give us some great service so we ended the night on a good note.

We decided to eat first but, at 830p...vendors started packing up, so we didn't get to shop. (sad face) We paid $20 each for the buffet---salad (out of a bag) rolls (kinda hard) sweet potatoes, green string beans w/bacon, pork loin w/mushrooms, charbroiled chicken breast with a white cream sauce. The meat and veggies were delicious! (note to front of house manager---bread saucers would be nice) Our server was Jamie...she was friendly and efficient. The country club itself is very plain...and outdated. Just nothing to write about really. No island or Texas history, minimal Christmas decor...bar and dining area is like old ugly banquet rooms.
