This course is located in the pine forest on the east side of Lake Houston and provides a pleasing getaway from the busy city without being a long drive from town. The course was recently rehabilitated and has better fairways, landscaping, and maintenance than in previous years. The layout is challenging without being too difficult for weekend golfers. The greens are fast but not bumpy and the fairways are in good condition. The length can vary from PGA yardage to average via four tee placements. Staff and other golfers are very nice. Slow groups let others play through. Green fees are very reasonable and the cart fleet was recently replaced with new gas powered Club Car carts. There is not much elevation change throughout the course, but other challenges make it interesting. The greens are large but sculpted to test your ability to read breaks. Sand traps and water hazards are located throughout the course in strategic locations. There are some homes along the course, but they are located far enough away from the fairways and on large forested lots so as not to encroach on the natural beauty of the area. By far the worst I have ever seen. Almost entirely covered in weeds including the tees, especially the fairways, and even the greens! The pathways are a horrible mix of cracks, trip hazards, and holes. Any type of guardrails or bridge railings are literally rotting away and falling apart. Not to mention the nonexistent paint that has withered away years ago. The vegetation along the fairway AND on the fairway is so high that finding any stray ball is virtually impossible. read more

-Condition is lousy!!! -the layout is one of the best in Houston area, Requires lots of different shots -Greens are slow and full of weeds (poa annua and crab grass) plus bare spots -Around the greens is mostly weeds (Virginia button weed) -Fairways are mostly weeds (crabgrass and Virginia button weed) -the whole place needs mowing and trimming -Sand traps are sand mixed with dirt (mud when when wet, no sand in some spots) and lots of weeds -Snack bar doesn't open till 10:00am or so -Range is nothing but sand and weeds (mats are new). Not may flat places to hit from except for mats -Range balls are heavily used limited flight range balls -Carts are filthy (they do run and drive straight, for the most part) -Restrooms are filthy (someone should report them to the health authorities) -Pro shop is stocked with nothing (do offer used balls for a dollar) -The whole place is in a state of disrepair!! read more

The price was right and the location was perfect for our needs but a little maintenance would go a long way at this place. Even the clubhouse was a wreck- dirty bathrooms and over flowing trash cans. Not an inviting look. read more

I'd give them negative 5 stars. When i started golfing around 2020. This was one of the better golf courses in the area. Now it's being ran to the ground. If you're looking for horrendous greens, overlapped tee times, and non golf etiquette golfers this is the golf course for you. Save yourself the headache and find somewhere else. read more

Yeah I was looking for a quick tee time and found this golf course online and for the price I decided to give it a try... The golf course is in rough shape, hardly any upkeep expect around the greens. The pro shop was empty and no equipment or anything to buy. I played around 8 holes and decided it wasn't even worth playing beyond that. read more

Played here again yesterday. The course is in pretty good winter golf condition. The greens were in better than average shape and consistent speed. The fairways are being plug aerated and the plugs are everywhere. Seems to me they should be swept up and used to fill in areas in need. But, doesn't seem like it's going to happen. The holes done on previous days had flattened, dried out, aeration plug chunks all over them, to be left on their own. Hopefully they won't be left in place long enough to affect the turf underneath? The course was decent but customer service was terrible. Our group consisted of respectful college students but were treated like punk kids when it came to a simple misunderstanding. A couple members behind us who owned the church in town threatened to fight one of us when we're playing slower than they liked us to. With us being younger than the aggressive gentlemen the course manager took their side and didn't take what we said seriously. The manager did try and sort the situation out but by making sure the older men knew that in his eyes we were the ones in the wrong. Ridiculous situation which in turn ruined the rest of golf. This place got a new manager and there's no other way to put it other than he is a dick. The golf course is pretty bad with lots of hard dirt spots on the fairway. The greens are dying and half turf. It's just overall not a great place to golf I would recommend going to new port instead. read more

Overall good but not great experience I had there today. Wish I had known this was not a "resort" as their website really entails as I expected there to at least be some locker rooms. Also found range balls to be a bit pricey but you can go discount hunting and find a rate that discounts 5$(the price of range balls) The course was better than expected for a course that apparently used to be complete garbage. The layout is great and offers some difficult challenges, such as 9, a very long par 4 or the isthmus green on 16. Par 5s are fairly easy for the most part, it's the par 3s and their small greens I found to be difficult. Overall solid experience. May come back here again soon. read more

I really liked red wolf, I'm not very good and there were a few holes I struggled on, with water traps and narrow tree-lined fairways. But those trees also provide good shade in the Texas heat. The staff was friendly, and the patrons are well mannered. My only complaint is that I didn't see one beer cart, had to get them from the clubhouse. read more

Not worth it. Even at $30 with a cart. This course has a ton of potential, but was in very poor shape. The greens had just been sanded and were over watered. There were numerous holes with standing water on the greens. The fairways were in descent shape except for where, again, they had over watered. Any ball off the fairway though was on hard pan with lots of exposed roots. Bunkers for the most part looked well maintained. I understand the new owners have put a lot into improving the course, but, they still have a way to go. read more

i went there golfing with my friends the other day and i'll tell y'all something, i don't think i have been treated worse at a golf course ever at my life. i was happily golfing when the group behind us called management on us for golfing too slow. this didn't seem like a problem for us and we would have happily let them passed by, but no they wanted to tell on us. once the manager, ED, came up to us he was very hostile towards us and threatened to kick us off and didn't let us explain that it was our first time golfing , he even said that he knew what we were up to from the start which doesn't make sense bc he didn't get our side of the story. once ED left us alone the two guys who told on us came up to our face and started harassing my friends and i. he wanted to fight my 17 year old friend. once this happened we complained to management about this incident but he didn't believe us and let the other guys go pass without even telling them a word. i didn't usually get upset about these things but this was the first time i've ever felt disrespected in my time playing golf. not to mention the greens are horrible some even being turf. as well as the fairway it was filled with nasty holes and it wasn't trimmed proper. i would not recommend this golf course to anyone. if i could leave a negative stars then i would ! read more

Have not been in a year because the place had progressively gone down hill. After playing there today, I was thoroughly impressed at the changes. The new owner and staff seemed to have been working very hard to fix this place up. The greens are in great shape, fairways are pretty good, and bunkers are in great shape from what I remember. Even with as hot and dry as the weather has been there was waterfilled ponds and streams where they should be. I think they also got new carts. I was very impressed and I will be back. On a 1-10 scale I would rate the overall course 6.5-7 with 10 being the best. Last year this time this place a 4 at best. Koodos to the new owner and hard working staff....Keep it up!!! read more

I braved the rain and played here the other day. Great course, it's in as good of condition as to be expected. That being said, the place is not in bad shape. Greens were recently sanded but still accepted the golf ball well, fairways and bunkers were also in great shape. The girl in the pro-shop could attempt to not be such a curmudgeon, but........you can't have everything! read more
