We were in Chama for two nights and were thrilled to find Chama Local. We ate dinner there both nights. It really has terrific pizza, calzones and salads. We loved sitting on the outdoor deck which was covered and had heaters. Perfect for the cool rainy evenings. The general manager Jonathan was exceptionally accommodating and all of the staff helpful and friendly. Great place to eat. read more

Chama Local, we are locals. We have dined at the Chama Local several times and will not be returning. This last time, dining with another couple who ordered after us, the first meal to arrive was a 10 minute pizza for one of our friends, 20 minutes later, their steak arrived. Another 20 minutes and our Pork Chops (photo attached) arrived. We asked where our pizza was and another 20 minutes it showed up. Service, the waitress was pleasant but just delivered food and cleaned tables, kitchen horrible. Now for the food. Prices are premium restaurant prices with exceptional ambiance. Order at the counter and you have to find your own table. Pizzas are personal sized for $20ish. The Pork Chop that took 50 minutes was pretty and the meat that there was (4 bites) was cooked rare. However, the rest of the Pork Chop was fat which we discovered when we took the leftovers home to recook the following day. Seating is uncomfortable. We get rustic. We repurpose rustic to sell. There is a difference between rustic and old flimsy picnic tables. read more

Sadly this place was closed as of 10/1/2021. It looked new and the menu looked amazing. I was really disappointed we didn't get to try it.

This place was delicious. There was not very much indoor seating, though they had warmers above the tables outside so that was very nice. The ranch was worth the extra dollar. It was a little on the expansive side but all of the workers were awesome. read more

We were "surprised" by the chef tonight with an amazing off the cuff dinner. The flavor combinations were impeccable from the Palisades Peach flatbread to the Peach crumble, every course was no less than perfect. Superb. Just superb!!! This place is awesome! During our 4 day stay in Chama, we ate here twice. We tried to a third time but they were crazy busy. They could charge any amount they need to for the pizza and we would've paid it. There's a nice, spacious outdoor dining area but it was to hot outside for that. (We went to the mountains to escape the Texas heat, only to find ourselves in an area that was under a heat advisory) The local beers on tap were wonderful according to my husband. We will definitely eat here again even if we're just passing through the area. read more

This new restaurant in Chama is a pleasant, and welcome surprise! I have eaten at Chama Local a few times now. Each time was a delicious and pleasant experience. The food is sourced from local farms and ranches. The decor is done well and it is comfortable to hang out at. The servers were very friendly, and the head chef very polite, coming out to our table to say hello in a down to earth manner. The prices were reasonable. I like it so much now that I make it a must-stop when I am in the Chama region. read more

This was the worst experience of our vacation. While the Waite staff was courteous the service was LESS than acceptable. The pizza came out in 15 minutes however, the pork chops ordered never came, but was delivered to a table that came in AFTER we ordered. We inquired twice about the chops. The first time we were told it would be 5 min. The second time (40 minutes later) the waiter went back to the kitchen area where the scrambling began. Finally over an hr later our husbands were able to begin their meal. Very disappointed and this was VERY EXPENSIVE! Would not recommend! read more

We traveled thru town and liked the looks of this trendy restaurant. We ordered (1) Pizza and (2) Pork Chop meals. The Pizza came out in about 15 minutes. We waited and waited and waited for the other two meals. We finally asked a waiter where the rest of our food was. He went to the kitchen came back and said it would be out in 5 min. By this time we had been waiting 30min. 15 to 20 minutes later we asked again and a different waiter went to the kitchen area and had a discussion about our table #. He came back and apologized and said it would be out in a bit. Another 10 min and the food was served. The pork chop was tough and carrots were hard. Just ok for me. The pizzas are good, but cost anywhere from $14-$16 and are small! The crust is very thin as well. The wings were pretty good, but $8 on a styrofoam plate, 6 total and not any better than your average wing is disappointing. There were also no steak options as other reviews mentioned at this time. My family and I walked away underwhelmed and still hungry after spending close to $80. read more

I love this place! It's my favorite restaurant in Chama!!! It is amazing food and a beautiful interior - tasteful, clear with a nice reminder of its original place in time. Close to the train and a good place to just stop by. The entire staff are welcoming and the food will bring me back. I can't wait to see what is on the menu next! read more
