I've stopped at a small town called Chama, New Mexico. I passed through here the other day and…read morestopped at their little tourist center which was just adorable. This coffee shop (that I searched on Waze) has espresso and wonderful pastries, and incredible breakfast sandwiches. I just went for a pastry right now. But the coffee is superb. And a charming place. She has great paintings on the wall in a very wonderful ambience for the decor. Outside she even has a fire pit going! What a little jewel of a place

Half a paper thin slice of bacon and the thin thread of green chile as if they split a whole chile length wise into 10 threads and this sandwich had one strip. Just as shown on another review 2 years ago(hasn't changed) I had the cherry pastry that was mostly cheese filling and one cherry, the pastry was paper paper thin also. 20$ for the two. Guess you have to pay for ambience which was very nice. This review is for customers to understand what to expect food wise and price wise. The owners attack personally on reviews show you the kind of business she runs. Acknowledging the issues that come up again and again would be in the best interest of the restaurant instead of placing blame on attitudes which actually comes from her when you ask questions about what you are going to be charged. There is not a heads up on breakfast prices. This review is about prices and food. If I had read the reviews I would have seen the exact issue with the tiny piece of green chile and bacon. It's obvious the owner does not care to fix the underlying problems. Attacking my review and all others as if you are granted a free "PASS" because you are a small business is not the way reviews work at all. Fix your food and maybe your attitude will receive the pass your looking for.

This seems more like a branding opportunity than a coffee shop. It's really an OK place; I'd visit…read morehere again, but I'd also probably try a few other places in town first. The vibes are strong here. It nails its rustic atmosphere and has a nice patio to sit out on. It's close-ish to the river, but you're mostly looking at a parking lot. All the other wares very much match the country-chic I think this is going for. I got very much the feeling of "we want to be a Magnolia of Colorado" from this place. Many of the items on sale referenced Root itself, trying to make fetch happen. As for what we got, we got some coffee, smoothies, and sweet tea. I also had one of their energy balls. Pricing was a bit on the high end, even for Pagosa. What was most absurd to me was how much my sweet tea was. Yes, it was good. But for that price, I was expecting a much larger cup. I was left thirsty. It's literally the cheapest thing you could make and not some secret recipe requiring expertise; for that price point I expected more to slurp on. The energy ball was tasty. The coffee, I'm told, was OK. The smoothies matched their price point and tasted fresh.
