We stayed here from Thursday, March 1 until Saturday, March 3. I would love to tell you that the place is horribly outdated and it is, truly is. However the kindness the people of this place show you, and the fact that it is pet friendly and when they say pet friendly your pets can roam around freely. Our bathroom did not even have a door knob on the door but when you were treated like family and your pets are treasured you don't care. Beautiful fireplace in the lobby and a fun restaurant attached it was just an overall amazing time. If the appearance of a hotel matters to you you won't like it here. I think this is listed as either a 2 star or a 2.5 star hotel, and for its rating, I'd definitely give them a solid four star Yelp review. First off, before staying here, keep in mind that the rooms are very modest and a bit outdated. The comforters look like they're from the 70's and most of the furniture does too. However, the bed was very comfortable and we had a very pleasant stay. There is no coffee maker, blow dryer or shampoo/conditioner in the rooms, but they do have a nice breakfast available for free from 7:30-9:30am (I think those are the right hours). The breakfast had various breads, bagels and muffins, and you are able to order eggs, French toast, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, etc with the waiter. They also have coffee, tea and juice available. It is modest, but tasty. The chalet also has a hot tub, sauna, pool table and a fire place in their lobby. What I was most impressed about, however, was their service. The housekeeper and front desk worker were so accommodating and so helpful. We had a newborn who was peeing/pooping all over the place, and they offered to let us use their washer/dryer...we didn't ask to use it; they offered. My husband and I went driving and ended up in Killington Vermont. We needed a place to stay and the Chalet came up on Hotels.com for only 80.00 a night so we gave it a try. The staff is lovely and we enjoyed the homemade blueberry muffins at morning breakfast. The place appeared clean. If you have a dog they are welcome here-too. There are two restaurants conveniently located across the street. I gave only 3 stars because the building is in desperate need of an update badly. It looks as if it hadn't been touched since 1972. The hallways are dreadful. Wall paper is peeling off and miss matched, carpeting is old and dated. The bathroom in our room is a mess. And the room has no pictures on the walls. I believe if the owners could throw some money into the structure it would be great. All in all our stay was pleasant and we would consider revisiting if some of the above issues could be addressed. read more

Stayed for a night here when I was in VT with friends to watch the fall colors in Oct'14. We arrived late in the night for check-in and although we had booked for just one large 4-bed room with extra beds for the 6 of us, the manager at the desk informed us that he had an unoccupied room for the night and offered it to us at no additional cost. It was of great help to us, since we got 2 bathrooms and plenty of space to sleep and get going the next day. Few days later, we also got a handwritten postcard from the manager, thanking us for the stay in the hotel! it was really a sweet gesture. Facility wise: nice location, pet friendly (the manager has a dog and many other people staying there had dogs with them), nothing fancy but a decent breakfast menu and amazing customer service read more

A place to call home, and bring your love ones (your pets). I like pets, but not in my space. However, the Chalet Killington made everyone feel welcomed and not inconvenienced. It was a joy to see everyone joyous, happy (families, guess and pets), and pleasant. The staff was superb (Bob, the owner since 1966, his son Matt (New England Patriot Fan) Awesome-Sauce; and his lovely wife Danielle. Their front desk staff was AWESOME (David, Nick & ALL the Ladies); Simply outstanding. The rooms are a little outdated, but it does have a beautiful rustic feel, and free WiFi. ;o) A place I would highly recommend; especially during New Years. Conveniently located relatively close to the base of the ski area. While the decor may be somewhat dated by some, the welcoming staff and the outstanding free breakfast more than make up for any minor failings. Great experience. It was very hot (85 in October?!?!) and there wasn't AC, but they provided a fan which was appreciated. The bed and pillows were great. The best part was the room in the basement with a ping pong table. On our second day of staying there, my boyfriend and I didn't have the energy to go out to a bar so we hung out downstairs and played ping pong. They had some other games there as well. Ok..here is a honest review. I'll start with the positives. Awesome staff an owner who are very kind, helpful, an welcoming. The Chalet is a great location, about a mile from the Mt. One of the best things about this place is the breakfast (included) They will make you just about anything you want, omelettes full of veggies, pancakes, french toast, etc along with a large spread of breads, fruits, coffee...this is a huge part of the value of this spot. Now for the negatives..the place is quite run down. The rooms are totally basic an a little dirty. The bed was very uncomfortable, along with the two inch hard pillows. The place hasn't been updated since the 80's for sure. But overall the Chalet is adequate for a place to crash while skiing. And the price is very fair. My dog gives this hotel an A++!!! We have stayed at most of the hotels on the access road and found most places to have the old north country feel and this one fits that description. I must say the beds are the most comfortable out of any hotel. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly....they even opened up for us when they were closed. We will be back for our annual winter vacation and we will be staying here!! The best part is we can bring our dog and they are 100% dog friendly!!!! read more

Arrived on Christmas Day with our dog, Marley. We were greeted with friendliness by the staff, guests and dogs. Enjoyed free, made to order, breakfast every morning, which was delicious, and served with a smile. Marley was allowed to roam the lodge freely, and fraternize with the other dog guests. We enjoyed staying at the Chalet so much, that we asked to stay an extra night. They were booked solid! Luckily, a reservation cancelled, and we were able to stay an extra night! This place is cool. It's old, and a little crusty, but I'll attribute that to character. The room was spacious and generally clean. You wouldn't catch me putting the 3 second rule into effect if I dropped a cookie on the floor, but I didn't feel creeped out walking around without socks. The water pressure and temp in the shower was fantastic...a beautiful thing after a day on the slopes. The staff was fantastic! Everyone from the front desk attendant to the bartender to the housekeeper was so friendly and helpful. The chatter in the kitchen led me to believe that these people actually enjoy coming to work. Crazy, I know! Breakfast was great, not the typical continental, piece of fruit and slice of toast breakfast. The bar in the mexican restaurant (we'll get to that in a moment) is set with juice, coffee (Green Mountain coffee, so it's decent), toast and english muffins. They give you a choice of eggs any style, bacon/ham/sausage, potatoes, french toast, or pancakes (blueberry, banana, chocolate chip). You can order as many or as few items as you like and all is included in the cost of the room. Talk about great value. The atmosphere is what earns this place four stars...it's a fun, sometimes bizarre mix! The chalet is dog friendly, making it cool right off the bat, so there are dogs running around all over the place. People chill out by the huge fireplace, located right outside the entrance to the attached mexican restaurant, Baja Burrito. Some of the tables for Baja's overflow aren't actually in the restaurant, they're out by the fireplace. It's a great melting pot of hotel guests and restaurant patrons...oh, and doggies. We didn't actually have dinner at Baja, but the food we saw looked fantastic. The chips and guac were tasty and the margaritas were right on. The location is so convenient...just down from the skiing. And if you don't want to hang out in Baja's bar every night, you can walk across the road to Moguls. The chalet also has a free shuttle that goes to the slopes or any of the restaurants in the area. I'll definitely return to this place next time I ski Killington! read more

It's very important that you have the correct expectations when visiting Chalet Killington. They are not a fancy,overpriced, posh ski-lodge. The chalet has a dog and family friendly feel that starts when you walk in the lobby. The lobby has a great sitting area with a large fireplace that will warm you up post ski/board. The Mexican restaurant serves pretty good food and great margaritas. The rooms are average with an occasional noise disruption (thin walls). The staff and outstanding cooked-to-order breakfast will bring me and my family back. Room change due to noise - no problem. Can I bring my dog? - of course. Can we check out late? (so we can hit the slopes one last time) - sure, and we will walk your dog while you're gone. Oh yeah, no hair dryer in the room so bring your own or borrow one from the desk when you check in (from my wife). read more

Visited just after NYE. The price was very good, and it's under a 10 minute drive to the mountain. The lounge is a little worn, but it's got a really nice fire place with a few sitting areas, and a giant checker's board. I would say the biggest con is their mexican restaurant - it is not good at all. Luckily, they serve booze. There is also a sports pub just across the road - which also has some 'meh' food. They are extremely dog friendly, so if you're cool with that and/or bringing your dog, expect a great time. Besides giving my dog treats, they also walked him while we were out skiing. And, incredibly, after we checked out on our final day, they watched our dog for 4 hours while we skiied. My dog is a bit of an active chewer, so they even gave him an extremely large bone as a going away present. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Wonderful place- dog friendly and only about 4 minutes drive from the Killington Resort/ slopes. I loved staying here the first week of October. It was the perfect place for my gf and I to stay because it's a quaint building, not a lot of rooms/people to bother us and very helpful, friendly, down to earth staff. They have free parking, which is always appreciated. The indoor hot tub was probably my favorite perk since I really needed to relax and it was very clean so I enjoyed that very much. There is a pool table and table tennis there too which is nice to have available without paying extra. The common room was nice and comfortable, especially when they had the fire going! Breakfast was very nice, they made blueberry muffins (which were delicious!), there were English muffins, bagels, yogurt, bananas and apples, plus 3 kinds of Green Mountain coffee. It was a nice view from our room (15) which is facing down the mountain. I only say nice as opposed to the incredible view you get at the summit (but you can't stay overnight there). There was a decent size flat screen in the room and it has a lot of cable channels so that's nice for late night entertainment. The deck outside is very cool, there is a table and chairs for sitting/ relaxing. The Expedia booking said that there was a refrigerator in the room, but there ended up not being one so I'll blame that mistake on Expedia and I won't give a lower rating because of it but just mentioning it so people are aware. Also I wish the Baja Burrito restaurant on the first floor was open because it looks so cute, but I'm staying outside of the peak season so it's not open yet. read more

Pros, Cons, and Tips Pros - This is a friendly, ski inn feeling place with just the right vibe. The office staff is very helpful, friendly, works hard and is ready to help with any request. The location is very close to Killington and the free shuttle is handy as the ski parking lots were full during the holiday week. The morning breakfast is very good with made to order eggs and pancakes. We stayed in a larger room #31 which has two rooms with no door, a king, two queens, a mini frig, table and chairs, and 1 bathroom so the right size for a family. It has big windows with a nice, north view down the road. They are generous with clean towels. There's a hot tub in the basement which is nice after skiing, a heated outdoor pool is fun, and there's ping pong and a pool table for the kids. They rent out space to Baja Burrito which offers good, basic Tex-Mex. After a day of skiing and in cold Vermont it's nice to walk downstairs and grab dinner. Cons - The place is run down and needs maintenance. Room #31 is dirty and shabby. The carpet is old, worn, badly stained, ripped and has an overpowering odor of mold and dogs. The linens and furniture are old and worn. There is water condensation on one wall so that the outlets are wet which is a safety hazard. It took the owner two days and several requests to take a look, the room was left ripped apart with mattresses and furniture strewn all around and not put back, and he told me it was just condensation so not a problem. So, we didn't use the outlets with water in them and so didn't have lights or electronics in part of the room. Housekeeping was only making the beds, they don't change the linens, and the bathroom wasn't cleaned all week and got very dirty. They need to put the door back in between the rooms. The owner was irritated and dismissive when I politely pointed out the room's problems. They charged me $346/night for a holiday week for which the room should have been clean and safe. The hot tub is in the basement in a room with no windows, fan, or ventilation, and when more than 4 people get in it overflows with a wave of water soaking the carpet which after doing this for all these years there's probably a mold problem. The sauna doesn't work. The wifi system is old, slow, doesn't reach the third floor, and needs upgraded. Tip - The policy is that you pay in advance when you check in and there are no refunds, so be certain of the number of days you want to stay and be sure to check out your room and ask for any repairs before prepaying. read more

Did not know what it was but the stuffy smell in the room was unbearable. Must have been mold or something because all of our allergies were terrible, not to mention there were flies. It was literally so bad that I slept on a couch by the lobby. The tv did not even work and the shower/bath either had a temperature that was dangerously hot or freezing cold. I do not know how this place has a good rating but please do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. I have literally stayed in numerous hotels that were ten bucks in third world countries that were better. read more

Dave, Matt, and their team of friendly locals have been improving the Chalet Killington every year, with regular infrastructure updates, room embellishments, and more. Great breakfast is included during the winter, and the in-house Baja Cantina makes the best margaritas on the mountain. Those fellow guests with dogs have likewise been coming to the Chalet for many years and respect common-sense rules regarding leashes, outside walks, etc. Never disappointing. read more

I wish I could give it six stars. Location was perfect, VERY close to the mountain. Great outdoor heated pool with an indoor hot tub. Attached bar/restaurant, Baja Burrito, had fantastic food, great drinks and very friendly staff. Best part of all for us was how pet friendly the place is. Our pup was welcome to come sit at the fire with us and interact with the other dogs staying at the hotel. I really can't say enough about how friendly/helpful the staff was during our stay. What a hidden gem! This place really has it all... We were here for 4 nights and the breakfast that was included in the stay was outstanding! This was not your typical continental breakfast... it had everything you could think of and the service was quick and the food was delicious and plentiful - perfect fuel for a long day of hitting the slopes. The hotel had all of the nice to haves as well - the hot tub, and out door heated pool if you were courageous enough to make the trek in the freezing temps to get out there, but I loved the fireplace with the seating - it was great to play a game of checkers and drink a beer from the bar. You have to have the wings at the restaurant during happy hour, they are no joke! Best wings, double baked and that dry rub is killer! The burritos are pretty awesome as well.... I wish we ate there more than just one night. The staff is chill. The reason why it didn't get 5 stars, though everything is very clean, the rooms are dated, and the shower sprayed water pretty much everywhere, and the beds were quite firm, we were in the room next to the restaurant which was a little noisy at times. Overall, the fridge in the room was nice, and there was plenty of room for all of our gear. We will definitely be back to say hello to all the cute and friendly dogs and the very friendly and chill staff. We came to the area from Virginia over Memorial Day weekend for the Killington Stage Race, and we were hoping to bring our dog along. It was great to find Chalet Killington - they have a hallway of rooms that is offset and dog-friendly, and their staff offer dog walking services if you need it. The rooms aren't luxury, but they were very clean and had a bit character. The owner and the staff were very welcoming (they had coffee and pastries in the mornings, even though we were there out of season), and about a week after we got home, we received a "thank you" postcard, thanking us for staying with them. It was a really nice touch! We will definitely return - great location, and if you want to bring your pup, it's a super option. read more
