Anyone leaving a three star or above review has to be living in a fantasy land I missed. I fully understand there are "renovations" going on, but this "hotel" is unacceptable. As one of the reviews said... it doesn't deserve to fly the Hilton flag. Dirt and garbage all over the floors from the moment we walked in; just because you're renovating, doesn't excuse not using a vacuum! Bathroom sink was broken and wouldn't drain... shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor and had hair in it that wasn't mine... Heating/AC literally growled like a demon to the point that we couldn't have it on in 29 degree weather. Towels were scratchy, breakfast was NOT Hilton standard. I've overheard enough conversations from managers who actually care about their hotel to know, there is a set guideline. This Hampton inn falls short in all ways. After volunteering all week and traveling a long night, expecting the Hampton Inn standard, this was top 5 worst experiences of my life. I thought checking out/grabbing breakfast would redeem something but spoiler... they didn't have the Hampton standard pastries either. The missing lemon poppy seed scones truly was the cherry on top of an awful experience.

There is also snow tubing at Bryce Resort, as well as a bar facing the slopes, and a restaurant. Lots to do in neighboring towns too. Luray Caverns are a must see nearby. We also travel an hour by car to Vienna to catch the train in to Washington DC. It's a great place to vacation.

Not too big a deal, but something you should be aware of. Units are laid out a little weird, you have to go through the kitchen area to get to the bathroom and bedroom. The tub drain in our unit was pathetically slow, something they had to know about and ignored. Kitchen is bare-bones. Fully stocked with plates and pots and pans, utensils and silverware, but nothing else. Everything costs a little bit extra once you're here. Need extra towels? Extra. Want to hit the fitness club? Extra. How about spend a day at the beach? Extra. Got some laundry to do? Extra, and a walk to the other side of the building. Want to use WiFi? Extra. The place is definitely adequate. It was clean, although there are no housekeeping visits during the week. Instructions are to dump all the trash and strip all the beds before you leave, and return the key to the office 3 miles away. Not horrible, but I don't feel I should have to do all that, especially when there is an envelope for a tip for housekeeping ??!!?? For what??? Anyway, bottom line, I suppose we would stay here again, just need to know what you're getting.

As I mentioned in the cons, lots of people stay here weeks on end like I did. However, the first room I was in was on the highway side and extremely loud. Secondly, my bed and pillows smelled so bad it kept me up at night wondering why. Then I remembered they don't change linens often enough when you're there more than a few days daily. Obviously I was smelling some other persons funk. Ewww. Thankfully, when I expressed my concerns, the staff went right to management and I was able to switch rooms! My new room was much cleaner smelling and I didn't hear the noise from the highway! The breakfast that's provided is adequate, but none of the bakery items- bread, English muffins, bagels were brought in daily. They would be hard and stale. The hot items- eggs, potatoes and either bacon or sausage was pretty good, I'd rather have something else. They did offer some fruit- bananas and occasionally apples. There is a coffee station with hot water for tea. The hot water thing was slow to pour, not very hot and more often than not, empty. Ending on a positive note! Nicole, Steven, Perry and Kevin were excellent!! They were why my stay was bearable! They definitely were professional and always willing to help with anything!! Kudos to all of you!!

Not that any cooking is needed while on vacation. Breakfast is sumptuous and delicious, thanks to Robin's great cooking. And just about 10 minutes away is New Market, which has several restaurants, a great cafe inside a museum, and a super well-stocked general store. It's a great staging spot for nearby trips to the caverns, hikes, fall scenery, regional festivals, wine tasting and much more. Dave and Robin are great hosts too. Truly a wonderful place (at a great price) that I highly and wholeheartedly recommend. In addition to vacations, the cottage and surroundings are great for writers, artists, or people working on big projects who need quiet and concentration. My two-day stay was way too short. I will certainly be back.

A group of 16 of us booked for the weekend and I honestly can't think of enough great things to say. Seriously, everything about this place was AMAZING! I organized the trip, so I got to work with one of the owners, Jesse, to get everything set up. He was helpful, responsive, accommodating, and really kind. I organize a lot for my friends and myself, and this was one of the easiest. Upon arrival we were checked in by the other owner, Gary, who immediately made us feel like we were at home. He gave us a wonderful tour of the property and told us everything we needed to know for a wonderful stay. This property is nestled in the hills of WV and the views are STUNNING! Every space and room is beautifully appointed, really leaning into the upscale rustic vibe you'd expect in a mountain retreat. So many beautiful nooks and crannies to sit and read or play games or just nap. The pool and hot tub are gorgeous and Logan at the pool bar will take amazing care of you! They provide a complimentary breakfast of freshly cooked eggs, meats, and biscuits/scones. The lunch and dinner menus are varied and everything we had was delicious. Our servers, Rain (spelling ??) and Angie were stellar and the ambience was just perfect. Every single one of us left feeling refreshed and we were all sad to leave. Do yourself a favor and make the trek out to Lost River and treat yourself. This place is amazing and I'm already planning my next trip here with my partner.

However, our visit was overshadowed by our concern for the wellbeing of the mini horse at the entrance. As I understand it, horses are social herd animals, so it's quite unfortunate to see this guy living in solitude without companionship. Also, his shelter seemed fairly small, with limited shading, and mostly on a steep hill that was largely unattended to. These were our general observations while visiting. Maybe this pretty pony has another home he visits and is there temporarily to entertain visitors? We couldn't be sure. Regardless, I hope others share in this concern and that the owners consider ways to improve this guy's digs and, ultimately, quality of life.

We searched the web for BnBs in the Shenandoah Valley, and came upon the Rosendale Inn. Seemed like a chill place, and we called and booked the space with a credit card number, but we were told we'd need to pay by check. It seemed a little fishy, and I was prepared for good or bad. We arrived on a dark fall evening, and Paul, the inn owner, met us downstairs and showed us to our rooms. The rooms are named after Virginian Presidents, my wife and I were in the Woodrow Wilson suite, and my parents had the Andrew Jackson suite. We settled into our rooms and then drank wine and played board games in the library, and slept very comfortably while the wind made the house creak a little. The inn is PACKED with history. It was owned by relatives of President Wilson, and a few presidents stayed there as well. Paul told us the whole history in the museum, and all the stages the building went through in its ongoing restoration. He is full of stories, from his own life on 3 continents and all the books he's written. In the morning, we had coffee around the table, and then Paul and his mom made us a nice breakfast, starting with fruit, and then an egg casserole and sausage one day, and french toast the next day. He made hot water for my parents (not coffee drinkers), and he gave us tips for what to do in the valley. Solid BnB, great for relaxing, and killer views of the valley. We hope to be back in a few summers!
