    Tubing
    Nomin D.

We came here for the ice skating and snow tubing. Ice skating was not busy at all and they have lot of blue walker thing for kids to learn how to skate. It's also $8 if you buy tubing ticket. Snow tubing has little bit of walk from the downhill to the escalator. Staff is very friendly, patient, and fun. Hill isnt too long but it was perfect for first timers and little ones.

Food was BOMB. Customer seevice amazing. Will come whenever Im here for a ski trip! The ambiance was relaxing as well.

$160 - they understaffed the tubing lines and over sold with no mechanism to track time slots. They should be using color bands or something. Went down twice before our time slot ended. Also, the path from the landing site to the ramp is covered in ice. My son slipped and split his chin. You would think after years of operation they would come up with a solution, I.e. walk way with heated mats.

I've been back to the Copper Kettle a few times since the first night with the HVAC debacle - it still feels a tad to warm and stuffy in here - but not nearly as bad as the first time. Since then I've been back to watch the Virginia Tech vs. Florida State college football game on a Thursday at the bar on ESPN. My new fave Ale at the Copper Kettle is the "Stoudts Double IPA" - available in a bottle. This is a strong, very hoppy, crisp, tasty Double IPA (9.34% ABV) if I recall correctly. I've sucked down a few of these Ales during my last stay. Bartender Ann is awesome! She really knows how to make some good drinks - and she makes an awesome Bloody Mary! Ann had me try a shot of some special vodka they had - I sipped it -- it had a really nice flavor. I've also sampled a few other dishes, including their Nachos (average) to their Cobb salad - which was pretty good.

Interior is recently redone and is now very modern and sleek. There are large windows looking up the mountain so lots of the tables have good views and the restaurant as a whole has great lighting. Our waiter was very nice but maybe a little TOO attentive due to the fact that we were the only ones there for lunch at the time. Food was very good and came out very quickly.

Was staying near by and decided to come here for my daughters bday dinner . There are not a whole lot of places to chose from this area but we were drawn to it for its view of the mountainside. I called ahead asking if we should or need to make a reservation. They said no it's walk in. As we show up it doesn't seem crowded and no one was waiting ahead of us. We stood and waiting at the host podium for 10 mins and no one even acknowledged us. My boyfriend found the first waiter and walked up to him to ask to seat us . He frantically looked around and decided it was a 20 min wait , but offered us another option to order food at bar for take out and to take that food outside at one of the tables ourself and we could sit and eat there but it would be no service. We walked up to the bar asked the bartender if that was right and he said he would get us a table . (There were also no tables outside due to have been taking forever another event ?) we were sat inside immediately from the bartender. At least 15 mins pass and no one brings silverware or asks for our drink order . Sometime a few mins later a waitress goes "I saw you sitting here but I didn't even know I had a table" any way this story is long . We were there for an hour and half before we even seen any food . Service is terrible . Not directly fault of the waitress she was sweet but they all seemed like kids working here . VERY poor organization and management of the floor. Food when it came was ok not terrible but also a Caesar salad with grilled chicken should of not been 15$ dig? Thanks for ruining what was suppose to be a nice birthday for my daughter

Not horrible, but I don't feel I should have to do all that, especially when there is an envelope for a tip for housekeeping ??!!?? For what??? We were looking for a smaller place for a first time skier that wouldn't need many harder trails. We booked everything for the weekend online. The process was easy and made it easy and quick to get tickets and rentals that we already paid for. I think they do charge an additional fee if you didn't prepay. The first night we arrived we did the snow tubing. It was a fun time. You need to get a tube at the bottom of the hill. Then there is a belt you stand on that will bring you to the top. You pay for and hour and a half that seems like a long time but it went quick because it was fun. We did a snowboarding lesson in the am and then spent some time skiing. We rented a board and changed to skis and it was a $15 fee to change. There is a cafeteria type area to eat. I did read another review that said people just dump their bags in chairs to save them. So that is what we did. We saved half a table for us then shared the other half. When lunch time came the tables filled up fast. Most kids would just sit in the floor if they needed. For a small mountain it was a great time. They had everything you need. We stayed at Chalet resort that was a 3 minute drive.

Also very disappointed that the duplex unit had no wi-fi! We are so used to having it for the last 20+ years of traveling that we were shocked. Wi-fi available at cost but resort manual stated it was slow and limited. Also had no wireless service. Had to drive 20 minutes away to get wireless signal. Checking in was ok, with one exception - I was asked to fill out a form with name & address (which was provided via our RCI reservation), plus the usual car information. Then I was asked to fill out my credit card information, including cc #, cc name, exp date and code! I have NEVER been asked for this! Usually resort just runs a hold amount on my credit card. Now on paper they have all someone needs to take money or even steal my identity! I was told the info was shredded after we left but will monitor activity closely. Unit was a duplex and surprisingly larger and better equipped than we thought. Huge living room/dining room combo with a pull down Murphy bed. Plus small bedroom & bathroom with small shower downstairs. A much larger loft bedroom and bathroom with a Jacuzzi & a Sauna!!! I slept upstairs after the first night because we were used to our King bed and in the Queen bed we kept bumping into each other. Tried the Jacuzzi but two issues. One, the on/off switch was on other side of Sauna door about 5 feet from Jacuzzi! The tub had weak power and with the remote switch, you had to leave the tub to switch it off. This meant I had to turn the water on before I left so that the water displaced by my standing up was replaced so jets did not spray out of tub. Took me awhile to get the sauna to work. No instructions, although the upstairs bedside table had instructions for 3 different alarm clocks, but none were present. Finally office told me of a reset button underneath the Sauna and that worked. Really enjoyed it, a little st a time. Although the kitchen was well equipped, better than most, there was no blender (for our meal replacement protein shakes) and no hair dryer. I asked and was provided a hair dryer but no blender available. Lots of activities around within 30-45 minutes so plenty to do.

So when I called and the owner told me that the breakfast would be delivered in the room, I didn't think think anything of it. As it turned out, the "breakfast" was a collection of thoroughly mediocre food picked up at the grocery store--yogurt, bagels, orange juice. The yogurt wasn't event especially fancy. As a result, my wife was disappointed. The host did offer to give us a discount on our stay to compensate for the disappointing breakfast. But he refuses to change the misleading information on his website. To this day, the website brags, falsely, about having "the best breakfast in Virginia," creating the likelihood that other customers will be misled in the future.
