We decided to take a little weekend trip into the mountains and I'm glad we found this place. Wanted to spend a day at Luray Caverns and most of the hotels near there were very expensive. So I found this location only 45 minutes away and it was great. The resort seems real nice. They have a golf course and a small ski mountain. We are here in the spring. We have a full kitchen so we brought a lot of food with us. However there is a restaurant/bar to go to. The place we stayed was nice. The rooms are clean. We came here for the ice skating and snow tubing. Ice skating was not busy at all and they have lot of blue walker thing for kids to learn how to skate. It's also $8 if you buy tubing ticket. Snow tubing has little bit of walk from the downhill to the escalator. Staff is very friendly, patient, and fun. Hill isnt too long but it was perfect for first timers and little ones. read more

Wow, we were thinking on going to Copper Kettle Restaurant many times, but could not get any reservation available. We thought it should be good if they have so many people. Today we we excited as we got the table... but the experience was terrible !!! Our server was unhelpful, did not have any knowledge about the food, did not remember what we asked. A group of friends and I came here for dinner during our cabin trip. Our table had a great view of the slopes. We ordered a different variety of food (steak and cheese, fish and chips, ribeye steak, salmon and pizza). Everyone said their food was decent. I've been back to the Copper Kettle a few times since the first night with the HVAC debacle - it still feels a tad to warm and stuffy in here - but not nearly as bad as the first time. Since then I've been back to watch the Virginia Tech vs. Florida State college football game on a Thursday at the bar on ESPN. My new fave Ale at the Copper Kettle is the "Stoudts Double IPA" - available in a bottle. This is a strong, very hoppy, crisp, tasty Double IPA (9.34% ABV) if I recall correctly. I've sucked down a few of these Ales during my last stay. Bartender Ann is awesome! She really knows how to make some good drinks - and she makes an awesome Bloody Mary! Ann had me try a shot of some special vodka they had - I sipped it -- it had a really nice flavor. I've also sampled a few other dishes, including their Nachos (average) to their Cobb salad - which was pretty good. read more

*This review is for the Copper Kettle, and not the resort as a whole* Unfortunately, if you live in Basye and want to eat out, you have one option: The Copper Kettle. I have refrained from reviewing over the past 6 years of living here, but at this point if it saves someone else from going, I'll have been glad. There are a few things wrong with the Copper Kettle. The staff, the food, the prices, the consistency, and the mandatory tipping on to gos are my main 5 grievances. The staff: Bryce cannot keep staff in their restaurant to safe their life. I say this as a former employee. There is little to no training (none in my case), which unfortunately results in poor service and inattentive servers with a lack of answers to your questions if you decide to dine in. A bigger issue than the lack of service from servers is the attitudes they display when serving you. Their bad moods are likely caused by upper staff and how they are treated, but regardless they are working a job in the public and not being professional in any manner. Keep reading to learn how ordering take out doesn't save you from the horrible experience that is the copper kettle. The food: Absolutely horrid. I will give them some credit, they have a few items that are good, but a majority of their food tends to be a joke. Their food has made me sick in the past, likely from how dirty the kitchen is (believe me, I've seen it), but when it doesn't make me sick it still leaves me plenty disappointed. Pro tip: never order meat. Burgers and steaks are always under cooked or over cooked, there is no in between at the Copper Kettle. I think I could get past the food being subpar if it weren't for the cost they charge for their garbage food or the fact that it's the only place here. Flatbreads are also hit or miss, burnt to a crisp or still doughy from being taken out too soon. The consistency: This has to be what pisses me off the most. While the resorts food is never great, they do have 2-3 items that are edible and work when you need a quick bite. However due to their food being made differently each time, you likely won't get the same order twice tasting right. Something that was supposed to have mild spice will be made right one day, and extremely spicy the next. The queso is to die for, when they care to make it right. But on busy days where laziness takes over it's more like a bowl of warm thick milk, no cheese taste at all. There isn't a single dish on the menu that is consistently made the same. The prices: Holy crap. Just go look at them. It's easily $25 for one person to eat. Reasonable if the food was good, but really the food should be great for those prices. Unfortunately, the food isn't even average. Getting a meal and paying those outrageous prices for it to taste inedible leaves one with great buyers remorse. To Go orders: With all my horrid experiences, I stopped eating in person and only to go when we needed something to eat in the area. They tip 20% on all to go orders. This is important to know because THEY DO NOT TELL YOU. When this first happened, I was tipping on my to go orders not knowing they were already tipping themselves. It is not mentioned on the phone or when they give you the price, and they are even shadier by not handing a receipt with the food for you to find out. I always tip, but for the resort to tip themselves 20% and not say anything is not okay. To make matters even worse? They tip the 20% on all the orders even though 75% of the time your to go order is incorrect and not as ordered. I have been coming here for 6 years. I don't eat here frequently but like I said it's the only thing in the area. Save your time and money. They will always disappoint you. There is a lot of work that needs to be done at the Copper Kettle and new management and staff would be a great start. While I have many comments about the rest of the resort, I'm going to chose to leave this just about the Copper Kettle, because Bryce is operating some shady business allowing the CK to continue robbing people of their money for below average food. The community store makes better food, and that's saying a lot. read more

Interior is recently redone and is now very modern and sleek. There are large windows looking up the mountain so lots of the tables have good views and the restaurant as a whole has great lighting. Our waiter was very nice but maybe a little TOO attentive due to the fact that we were the only ones there for lunch at the time. Food was very good and came out very quickly. read more

It's always fun to be there. We like to ski and it's easy to go there. Roads are always clean and service is great.

We made a reservation for 5. Was able to sit early. Cassie was our waitress and she was awesome. I felt so bad because it was obvious they were short staff, on the floor and in the kitchen. Food took a very long time to come out. But Cassie really did an amazing job doing what she could to make up for that. She was very attentive, and kept us updated on any delays. Even though the food took forever, it still was really good..and we will definitely be back. read more

We have been dinning at the Copper Kettle for years when we head out for skiing. During our most recent trip, we ate at the restaurant 4 times in two days. I know that every one is understaffed which likely played a role in the limited menu, fair enough, but we were disappointed to see pizza removed from their menu and a few other favorites. As always the staff was great. Please bring back the pizza and NEVER, I repeat NEVER, take the pretzel off the menu. My children and husband will not know what to do with their selves. Was staying near by and decided to come here for my daughters bday dinner . There are not a whole lot of places to chose from this area but we were drawn to it for its view of the mountainside. I called ahead asking if we should or need to make a reservation. They said no it's walk in. As we show up it doesn't seem crowded and no one was waiting ahead of us. We stood and waiting at the host podium for 10 mins and no one even acknowledged us. My boyfriend found the first waiter and walked up to him to ask to seat us . He frantically looked around and decided it was a 20 min wait , but offered us another option to order food at bar for take out and to take that food outside at one of the tables ourself and we could sit and eat there but it would be no service. We walked up to the bar asked the bartender if that was right and he said he would get us a table . (There were also no tables outside due to have been taking forever another event ?) we were sat inside immediately from the bartender. At least 15 mins pass and no one brings silverware or asks for our drink order . Sometime a few mins later a waitress goes "I saw you sitting here but I didn't even know I had a table" any way this story is long . We were there for an hour and half before we even seen any food . Service is terrible . Not directly fault of the waitress she was sweet but they all seemed like kids working here . VERY poor organization and management of the floor. There are few choices in this area for restaurant food. This one is pretty mediocre. The service is slow and not particularly personable. It wasn't bad. I just got the feeling that the waiter didn't care. I ordered a burger. It was dry, overcooked, and pretty tasteless. I ate it anyway since it took so long to get there. I also had sweet potato fries which were nothing to write home about. The decor is bland. The whole place is bland. It's better than nothing, but not by much. read more

We have a 2nd home in the area and dine here a lot. We are absolutely a fan of most of the food. The wings are our favorite! Being the only restaurant in the area, the food is decent. As a local I definitely enjoy the fact the community thrives from the tourism however, it can be difficult to enjoy some of the outdoor activities that are very plentiful on Bryce Mountain during peak seasons. I've lived here off and on most of my life, and I can appreciate how that particular area of the valley has truly preserved itself. The way it has consistently delivered a very smooth, and not overwhelming growth. All said, I love to fish, I like the trails, (I must mention some of the choice dishes **pizza**fish tacos**deli stacked sandwiches **the eating venues offer) but I don't enjoy it as much when I'm seeking the tranquility of those endeavors under high traffic and occasionally said "high traffic" that is not as outdoor oriented as the locals are; which can disrupt the type of pleasure myself and the visitors are seeking to gain from those outings. -Cheers read more

While staying in Bryce this weekend, we got sick of having to drive an hour to EVERY place we went, and with stove in our rental house being terrible, we opted to go out to dinner at the only place there is (that we could find) in the resort. It's odd. It's hard to figure out where it is (through the lobby of the golf shop), if you call for directions, you could get your head bit off like you're an idiot (um - Im sure I sounded like a tourist, but, um, I am), and upon arrival you are asked what "side" you want to be on... same menu, but on one side you eat out of styrofoam, in the other, you get plates, table clothes and candles on the table. I didn't ask if there was a price difference... i wonder. It's pretty clear that this place doesn't have any competition. The food sounds better on the menu than it is. Im certain it's all frozen and heated. But it's fine. We had a large party and no one spoke of the quality of the meal unless asked and the response was, "yeah, it's fine"... so... One of the few options in Basye for a meal that you don't cook yourself. That being said, I would happily choose the copper kettle as my place to dine anyways. The new head chef has really turned it around. The atmosphere is great inside, very family friendly, the food is always up to par, and the service is superb, always a smiling face and the servers are more than willing to help you adapt a dish to fit your dietary needs. The price is a little high but for the quality of food and the location it is more than a great deal. I would recommend the black bean burger, it is my go to meal every time I visit. read more

But all of them, but I've gotten an unfriendly vibe many a time. Sometimes the food is great, other times it's only ok. Either way, it is a bit overpriced for the quality. They really need to work on training their staff in some basic hospitality and either lower the prices or increase the consistency of the quality. Always good! The food, the staff and the new decor makes it a very pleasant dining experience for us. Last night, our server Dakota, was right there with menus and water, went over the menu and answered questions. When I asked about the cauliflower pizza dough, he said he actually preferred it so even though I have absolutely NO food allergies (especially gluten - I eat all I can of it), I ordered the margharita pizza with the cauliflower crust and it was delicious! I actually thought it was better than traditional pizza dough. My wife's kale salad was fresh and plentiful as well as delicious! Located within Bryce Resort, it's nice to know when you are stuck in the snow and in danger of driving the narrow, winding roads to get the resort that Cooper Kettle restaurant will be there to replenish ready to eat food. This restaurant is conveniently near the Aspen East Condo and one can walk here when you don't feel driving to town just for food. The food is surprisingly good. Great place if you're in a diet... can't comment on the food because we never were offered any. Waited over 40 minutes at the table and wasn't even brought water. Servers aplenty, not crowded, other tables getting service but we were seated and then ignored. When up to the bar and they refused to even give water, said we had to wait for a server but they'd send one, Minutes passed and still no one came. Finally flagged down a server & he said he couldn't help us because he hadn't been assigned our table. Again promised someone would come, 5 more minutes and again, no one came so we left. I should have read the reviews before dining at Copper Kettle. After being seated we waited over 10 minutes and did not see a server. I alerted the hostess who seemed clueless and unsure what to do. After nearly 15 minutes more of not being approached by anyone we left. If they weren't the only gig in town they'd either lose a lot more business or replace their incompetent employees. read more

We stayed at Bryce and the Copper Kettle is the only thing around unless you want to drive 20+ miles. Unfortunately we should have driven as the Copper Kettle was not worth the time saved. The restaurant is in an old room that looks like it was a large room for wedding rentals. Cheesy decorations and we were seated at a wobbly very small table that was set for 4 but really should have been a table for 2. The hostess even apologized for the smallness of the table so they are not oblivious to this problem. They did have huge tables for 10, like you'd see at a wedding reception.... The waiter was not attentive at all. Brought our drinks, took our order, and then disappeared. We finally found him and asked if we could get bread and butter (as others had them so we knew we should have gotten them). He did bring this and again disappeared. Our food finally came out, but only 3 out of 4 of the entrees. Another 5 minutes before the 4th came out. Then had to wait, as again our waiter was no where to be found and he didn't bring any ketchup or mustard for the burger. We had a Sirlion Dip, Burger, and the Cheryl (A Turkey Club). Fries were cold and obviously came from a frozen bag. Food was mediocre. Will not be back to the resort or restaurant as the resort was just as bad. read more
