The coffee was good, but the service not so much. When I go to coffee shops I expect a welcoming energy and didn't really receive that.

This is a cute little spot on the Upper West but it wasn't as good as I was hoping. I tried the maple latte here and it was just fine. My friend tried the match lavender and it was good, but not great. For a place that seems to specialize in match, it was pretty regular. The space in here is nice and there's plenty of seating. It's clearly a neighborhood spot and you see a lot of families and dogs drop in! Probably would not come back since there are so many other coffee places in the city.

A variety of drink options. Offers milk substitute. Iced matcha - 4/5 it's alright Spacious, plenty of seating. Plenty of sun to sit and chill or bring work. A good place to wait when you are in line for a nearby restaurant.

The matcha latte was really good but was luke warm. The granola bowl was really good. There was fruit and granola on top of a matcha Greek yogurt. The chorizo burrito was also very flavorful. The service was ok. One lady was nice and helpful but the other was very abrupt and grumpy. The restaurant only seats about 16 people total.

Great matcha cafe! It's spacious and the lighting is nice in the afternoon to sit for a bit. The matcha latte was good! The quality wasn't mind blowing but it was solid.

We went around 1 pm on a Saturday and there were plenty of seats inside. We get the matcha lavender latte and a coffee latte. The matcha lavender latte was very milky and mild flavored. If you blindfolded me I am not sure I would have been able to tell you there was match or lavender syrup in it. The coffee latte was much better.

we went here for a quick meal after walking from the NHM. i got the sandwich, and i thought it was pretty good. the brioche bun was so sweet and tasty, and the egg was cooked well. i could've done without the arugula, so i took those out. i also got the matcha, but unfortunately it was not very good. too watered down, and lacked a lot of sweetness that you would get with matcha. i think this is a good place to have a sit down and try to get work done, but in terms of food and drink, it is just okay.

this place deserves a way higher rating than it has. as someone that's tried a lot of matcha in new york and is so critical over the quality of it, i love this matcha spot on the upper west! they use ceremonial grade and have homemade almond cashew milk too along with so many different matcha drink options. i got the matcha lavender latte w the almond cashew milk and it was absolutely perfect and not too sweet. they also have tons of food and bakery options if you want a quick bite. definitely recommend!!

The hype certainly stilll lives here, as we waited about an hour before being seated. Luckily, we didn't have to wait in line the whole time and wandered the neighborhood. When we were seated, service was quick and attentive. The staff are friendly at answering questions, and the smells are fantastic. We got the pho, bun bo hue, and the Banh cuon. The banh cuon was excellent, great flavor and texture. The pho is different from BAE, with the noodles here being the classic thin pho noodles. The broth is also much lighter, almost like a southern style. The bun Bo hue was ok. Tbh, it was a bit light in flavor, and there was really just a little spice in it that carried it. Otherwise, I wouldn't get it again. Overall, the spot is good, but the flavors just weren't quite there for me. I've heard great things about the banh mis here, but given the soup I had, I wouldn't come to this spot and would rather just visit the union square location. Wish I could give 3.5 stars.

First of all, I have to mention the prices: we got 6 pastries and 2 hot chocolates for just over $40: a steal in this economy. Second, it was mostly authentic: the "francia krémes" (which they call a "Napoleon" here for some reason) was quite close to how they serve it in Hungary, save for the caramelized and sickeningly sugary top (which I skipped). The "dobos torta" had the reverse problem: its top--the eponymous "drum"--was authentic, but the meat of it far, far too chocolatey. Guys, a slice of "dobos" is NOT supposed to put you in a diabetic coma! It is not even meant to be very chocolatey! It is supposed to be much more subtle, even savory. The pastries we took home, which included several "rétesek," received high reviews as well. The servers were nice, but did not speak Hungarian. My only other critique would be that the space is incredibly cramped. You will be elbow-to-elbow with various Columbia students. My companion also told me the bathroom was filthy. If you're OK with these rougher spots, though, this cozy café is worth a visit if you want a peak at the "old country."
