Perfect first visit to Chaifetz Arena last Friday night. We came from Oregon to see Ella Langley, and it was sold out and the setting was perfect. In particular, Mark one of the ushers/security? was extremely gracious to my wife and he told her that it would be easier to use the restrooms on the main floor versus going back up. (we were in row e) Nice touch Mark. The lines were long, but hey...it was sold out and everything worked out perfectly. Except for the rain after the show, but I doubt the Arena had any control over that. read more

I always enjoy attending events at Chaifetz! Everything always seems well-organized. It's a pretty great mid-sized venue for the St. Louis area. It feels big enough to host major sporting events, concerts, and other events while offering great views from most seats. The layout is pretty easy to navigate as well. We recently visited this venue for a concert, it was a breeze entering the facility, finding our seats, and enjoying the show. I was concerned about the walk between the parking garage and venue as I'm not familiar with this area of town, but it was a safe and short walk through a courtyard! The only complaint I have is something I think all venues do nowadays, which is what feels like being robbed if you chose to eat or drink at the venue...$50 for 2 drinks is insane...but we were told the price only after they were made and handed to us. read more

I had a great experience at the Chaifetz Arena! The parking is always my concern with concerts and such and this parking was easy peasy. There actually is a lot of street parking but we opted to include the parking garage when I purchased tickets. The lot was easy to go in and out of and was secured. The actual venue itself has pretty much a good seat anywhere you are due to its size. The food/ drink is for sure no frills but not a problem. Lines got long but service was always pretty quick! Side note: the ( short) walk from the garage to the arena is gorgeous! I've never been on campus but it's well maintained. read more

Attending an event at the arena for an high school group hosted by a nonprofit organization. For the free event they suspended their "No Re-entry" rule obviously so that we could walk in and out as we needed. Security is as concerned with securing the profits of the overpriced refreshment stands as they are with actually, you know, protecting safety. Our 13 year old had to spend half of her allowance on a bag of popcorn which she planned on grazing through over the course of the day. When we had to make a trip outside, she attempted to bring the bag of popcorn she paid for INSIDE the arena back inside and they told her she could not. Absolutely absurd. No explanation was given upon my protest except to deflect blame for the decision to some "manager" with a "policy". Good to know there is more critical thinking from the high schoolers at the nonprofit's event than from the drones that represent this University's facility. Crossing SLU off the college visit list. My family doesn't align to their value system. read more

This place is electric. They can house many different types of venues. There is sports history. They keep it clean. They greet you at the entrance. Going through security was a breeze. Someone is always there to guide you. I was there recently for the 15th Wing Ding. Three categories are buffalo, dry rub, and specialty wings. There were some amazing wings there. But there were somecwings that were mid. After sampling all the wings I made my choice for the best. I had a great time. I was full. But I tried every wing that was there. There is plenty of garage parking. It was free for this even. Im grateful I had the opportunity to participate this year. read more

Black Rodeo was awesome. Started on time. Got there early so parking in the garage was speedy getting in and out. Very professional parking attendants who actually directed us in and out expeditiously. Getting in to the chaifetz was speedy as well . No problems the entire evening. Just fun fun fun. The show was great . DJ played great music to keep us entertained, the MC hosted humorous jokes and profile of each cowboy /cowgirl greatly. I loved all the games the same. Cowboys are fun but Cowgirls is where it's at. I loved watching all the girls get out there and do there thing just like the guys. It was great watching them groom the younger children as well to show off there talents. Food was good as well . Overall excellent show and night on the town. read more

I have very mixed feelings about Chaifetz. If you are watching a basketball game or other sporting event here the view and stadium itself are quite good. So the viewing experience is very good. There are two knocks on events here. The first is the concessions. The prices are standard, but the choices are limited. So eat before you come or afterwards and skip food at the stadium. Maybe get a soft pretzel (I mean they are always good) but that is it. The other issue is the parking. There are a couple spots for paid parking, both are reasonable ($10 to $15). Unfortunately there is always a massive backup getting to the parking as there is really only one main artery (Oakland). There are police helping direct traffic, but always add on a good 20 minutes to your transit to get in. I'd recommend coming up grand and coming in from the northwest rather than coming off and going up Oakland. Leaving is also a pain as it is just this situation in reverse. Last time I think it took us more than 30 minutes to get out. So the stadium is pretty solid, the parking is subpar. read more

Went here for Sabrina Carpenter 10/17/24, my only big complaint is how frustrating the parking was. They need more signs down the roads. We missed the turn in for the parking at first because we weren't sure if we even had the right spot. The workers were so nice though and were great at directing the traffic. The arena itself was nice though the seats are definitely on the smaller side which was a little annoying but usually for an arena. The only concessions I got were a pretzel which was a pretty standard soft pretzel and then two bottles of water. I don't know if the arena has a rule where you can't have a bottle but the worker did pour the bottles into cups. Which, in a busy arena is quite the inconvenience. We did end up spilling water on the floor by our seats. All in all good arena though and I had a great time. read more

I was at Chaifetz Arena for a graduation. First, handicap parking is a joke. Every parking attendant was just rude to most everyone. There were no signed telling you where to park just people screaming at you. There were no signs for the handicap shuttles. The parking garage was a cluster F***. The people checking bags, rude as hell. It's like no one wanted to work today. They had virtually no system for anything. I will never go back there for anything. It took an hour to get in and more than an hour to get out. read more

The Chaifetz Arena on the SLU Campus is a great venue ! My wife and I went there for Rumours of Fleetwood Mac and had an absolute blast! We used the arena park lot (see separate review) and walked the short distance to the arena. The campus is beautifully landscaped so the walk is very pleasant. The security is similar Busch, the Enterprise Center and others but check their website for the latest updates. The building is well maintained and laid out. The restrooms are plentiful, clean, and conveniently located. The sound system is fantastic and added to the concert experience. There were lots of choices for refreshments which we chose not to use except for water, having just had dinner. Walking back to the garage after dark, we found the grounds very well lit. We would definitely go there again especially using their parking. read more

What is there NOT to love about Chaifetz Arena?! This major venue on the campus of St. Louis University is perfection for what it was built for. Chaifetz Arena hosts tons of nationally touring concerts, and offer more niche offerings than other big arenas in town due in part to it's slightly smaller size. Getting to and from Chaifetz Arena is a breeze from the highway! There are multiple exits on 64/40 (which one do you usually say?) They offer paid parking in a massive structure on Lindell. But you have to walk to the entrance to Chaifetz Arena anyway, so you might as well find spots on the street. In fact, there are tons of great restaurants and breweries that offer nearby parking surrounding Chaifetz Arena, which is an added bonus. We recently went to a SLU Bilikens basketball game. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the arena before, during and even after the game! They were strict about checking vaccination cards when you walked in, so have it ready when you are walking up. They had many signs about wearing masks which was nice, but they did not enforce it. The concession stands offered your arena standards and plenty of Budweiser products to help make the event you're attending even more fun. I loved the atmosphere during the Bilikens game, and highly suggest making your way to Chaifetz Arena for a game soon! read more

Easy to access from the highway, and paid parking surrounding is moderately priced. We paid $15 directly across the street. Food pricing is the usual high price for any event, although the $5 hit dog wasn't bad. We had seats on the second level and had a good view of the court. The seats though are designed for skinny college kids, not adults. Sitting thru the game being squeezed to the point of being uncomfortable made the expo Erie center less than enjoyable for me. I have been to many arenas across the country over the years and Chaifetz is one of the meh ones. It gets the job done. I was here for a concert and opted to uber from my hotel instead of driving and I am so glad I did. The traffic was insane and so backed up with people trying to get parking. My uber driver said it is like that for every event that they have there. He dropped me off very close to one of the main entrances and told me where I should walk to after the concert to ensure a smooth pick up by my uber who was taking me back to my hotel. Getting into the arena was fairly simple, they do have a pretty strict clear bag policy so keep that in mind when you go. I noticed a few people who had to take their bags back to their vehicles. There are a few food a drink options here and just like every other arena they are pretty overpriced for what you get. The seating is nice and the restrooms were clean so really no complaints there. The staff that I encountered there weren't overly friendly but they were doing their job. Overall it wasn't an awful experience, but the parking would be my main downfall to not visit again. read more

I attended the SWV/Xscape (Queens of RB) concert, we had front row seats however others were allowed to come and stand directly in front of us and when ask to move we were met with disrespect and attitude. We then asked the ushers/security to do their job and ask them to move and return to their seats, they moved momentarily and returned, it got to the point that we left the Concert early. They need to do better we pay our hard-earned money to purchase nice seats, if we had known this, we would have purchased cheap seats and then walk up and stand in the front row. Never again will we attend another concert at this venue. read more

Really enjoy going to this venue for SLU basketball games. I always have a great view from my seats because of the lighting and the setup of this arena. During most events ,you can't use the street parking on Compton Ave, but there is parking on Harris- Stowe State University's lots (for a fee ), St Louis University's parking garages( for a fee) and of course ample street parking on Market St and Olive St. read more

The venue and promoter does not hold the artist accountable to start on time. We waited over an hour and 45 minutes to night for a concert to start. Asked for a refund since the start was delayed. Customer service refused. No starting act, just a DJ playing music. Show was scheduled to start at 8pm. We gave up at 9:45. Under no circumstance, it is acceptable to leave paying customers waiting for hours. Start on time Chaifetz or penalize your promoter and artist. read more

Trying to park was ridiculous. It was a traffic jam. We sat in traffic to go .04 miles over an hour. No police directing traffic. This was for a graduation and with the traffic, we missed our daughter receiving her diploma. read more

As far as stadiums go, Chaifetz is pretty standard. There are 4 screens in the corners, no large Jumbotron in the middle. The signage is easy to follow. There are mental detectors in the way in too. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. read more

I like Chaifetz Arena quite a bit! I visit a lot for SLU basketball, but I've been to a few concerts there as well. It's an all-around great venue. For things like basketball games, you can try to park in the VIP lot right next to the arena. Sometimes there's a list you have to be on, but other times they offer parking for $5 (depending on the event.) If you can't park there, the best spot is the Compton Garage just down the street. With just a short walk, you're there within a few minutes. The staff is always very friendly, and I have to give big props to the concession stand food! It's pretty good stuff, and I always appreciate a venue that has Dippin' Dots (guilty pleasure.) The food seems better than other similar spots I've been. Chaifetz is great for watching games, and you can see well from every seat. They also do a nice job with the video/visuals that take place throughout play. Look forward to many more fun times here watching the Bills. read more

I have been to 2 concerts here. Very easy to get through security and have tickets scanned. Seats are comfortable. There really isn't a bad spot to see a concert here, unless you are sitting directly at the edge of the stage in the stands (since you really cant see the front of the stage or the light show very well). I've been directly under a vent both times here and have been cold... so plan accordingly if you are one to get cold. Parking: do not park in the Olive/Compton garage, unless you are willing to sit not moving for a hour+. We were able to find a spot on Olive at a meter about 30 minutes prior to the show (plenty of meters were still open). We walked maybe one more minute than those parking in the garage, but I was in my car and on the road in 2 seconds. Metered parking on Compton is always taken or is not even available (red bags are placed over the meters). read more

This is probably one of the worst arenas I have ever been to. Maybe the parking in the garage if you get there about 2 hours early for a venue for it to be open may be handicap accessible, however, the other two closest parking areas just are not friendly for those in wheelchairs. The lot in front of the arena has nothing but stairs to climb and no ramps. There is only one ramp to this place, and if you go down to willcall you better have been on the ramp and followed the side walk around the building, because you are not able to get to the actual will call section. There is only one landing for wheelchair accessibility in this whole place, unless you pay the outrageous prices for floor seats, but then your fighting for elevator space as people don't want to walk up stairs who are able. If there are ever any more exciting events happening here, i will not be taking my wheelchair bound child, it is ridiculous to maneuver and I had to walk at least .25-.50 of a mile just to get to the building. This was after the security guard in the parking garage asked me if we were "really handicapped" so that we were able to park in an actual handicap spot on the ground floor. As far as the seating, its not bad. We saw Disney on Ice and I think if you are sitting at the landing and below you have got some decent seats and you can see everything. If higher I wouldn't recommend, you may miss alot of the detail on the costumes and what not. read more

The Chaifetz is a great concert venue, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house! I've seen a few live acts here in the past ten years, from Crosby, Stills & Nash, Arcade Fire to Little Big Town. However, I have never attended a sports or any other kind of event at the arena. But I have nothing to complain about. Well, except for the parking situation - but that goes for most of the big venues anyway. Yes, you will probably have to pay $10 for the garage. Or if you can do it (I'll admit to doing this once...), take the Metrolink to Grand Station and walk alongside busy Grand Avenue. It's actually not that far of a walk! I came here for a comedy show. Parking was $20 right across the street, worth it. We had to stand in line for about 25 minutes it was cold and there was nothing to block the wind. However, once the opened the doors, scanning your ticket and getting in and finding your seat was quick and easy. The food and drinks are very expensive inside and all hard liquor must be served in a glass of ice. It seemed that every seat was a good seat in the house. The sound and quality of the TV projectors were great. I could go back here for another event. read more

Pretty average arena for a uni this size. It's big enough for some good concerts but still intimate. The seats are for college age butts. Not as wide as my average forearm is long. Smaller than the average airplane seats I'd say. But, if your butt fits the place is pretty nice for concerts. I think even the side seats would be ok if the stage set up isn't too heavy on the sides. Even the farthest seat is closer than most stadium seats. The acoustics for what I've seen are good. Take an Uber or Lyft and save the hassle of parking. read more

This Ninja's first time at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis to watch his favorite band Muse (3/8/2013). At first glance I was pleasantly surprised at the size of this venue. I last saw Muse perform in Vicente Calderón Stadium, Madrid to a sold out 60K fans. Imagine my shock walking into Chaifetz for the first time and seeing 9K fans for such a huge headliner like Muse. I am not going to compare apples to oranges, that's for fruit Ninja's. I will instead try to give an objective review of this venue. Arriving at the stadium and this Ninja noticed right off the bat that there is no valet parking. For $20 you can park yourself at a convenient location across the street. Let me make sure I get that right. For $20 you can park your car yourself, my car which happens to be half the size of most cars does not qualify for half off the price. I had to park across the street and walk 5min. to the entrance. Luck just may have it I left my sword at home or you'll be watching this Ninja in the news the following day. My smoking hot date with big hooters, 4 inch high heels and I walked our way to the main entrance where we found a friendly group of people who efficiently guided as through the gates. I attracted the scrutiny of the local security and was gently patted down in search of weapons. Of course they failed to recognize I was a Ninja and completely ignored the fact that I alone am a deadly weapon. They let me in anyway. They then focused on my date where all it took was one Ninja stare and she was waived right through. That always comes in handy anytime I want to sneak a burger or bucket of chicken inside. Speaking of food. The concessions were located all around the venue and was reasonably priced. You have your choice in Beer, Mixers and let's not forget your favorite coronary blockage inducing comfort foods. The bathrooms were clean, stocked with plenty of TP, and was graffiti free. Seats came with convenient cup holders for your drinks which are not so convenient if the person in front of you decides to hang their coat over the their chair. Again, lucky for that person I left the sword at home and caught me in a really good mood. It didn't matter where you were sitting or standing for this concert because everywhere was a good view and the acoustics were just right. During the concert the crowd was well behaved. no comparison at all to 60K sweaty, screaming Spaniards. After the concert, vacating the facility was painless and traffic control was handled very well. I just need to get past the 5min. walk across the street. Oh, did I mention my date had high heels? ...and big hooters! This Ninja gives Chaifetz 4 Ninja stars for an overall pleasant experience. If Chaifetz wants to earn the coveted 5 Ninja stars. Add valet parking, golf cart service and or those trams like Disneyland and you'll get 5 stars. Looking forward to enjoying many more concerts at this venue. read more

As a fan of live music, I have been to every sort of venue in the Midwest and many on the West Coast. But, until recently, it had been a long time since I'd seen music performed in a large arena. I'm fortunate to live in a town whose shiny new basketball arena also sounds good because the venue was designed with sensitivity towards all aspects of fan experience, including sound. This is certainly not the case with Chaifetz Arena, which is all concrete and plastic and in no way designed with acoustics in mind. Poor acoustic design didn't dampen my enthusiasm for the show I was here to see (Arcade Fire), but my impression of Chaifetz was ruined at the end by staff and "security." When the show ended, fans were greeted by an electrical storm (and lots of rain). Within 15 minutes, staff were pushing people (many of whom were waiting for rides from other fans sent out to retrieve said transport) out into the rain and doing it with attitude. If you aren't set to welcome fans, Chaifetz, and to protect them from harm by letting them linger a few extra minutes, then don't host shows at all. If your staff don't like people, then don't let them in to start, and don't waste our time. read more

Meh. As far as venues go, Chaifetz has very little going for it. Located in Midtown, this arena does not have the best parking situation. The parking garage isn't necessarily close to the venue, and on a windy, cold night in St. Louis, my wife and I were jumping to stay cold on our long journey. Do the Rams or Blues play here? Because beer prices are quite similar to the prices at Edward Jones and Scottrade. Don't your students pay enough to attend your college that they don't need to drop nine dollars for a watered down Bud Light draft? We saw Smashing Pumpkins, which was just as disappointing as the venue itself. The crowd was dead, and I'm not sure if it was their fault, the band's, or the venue's for being so bland. It just seems like another cookie cutter, boring arena when there should be a greater sense of Billiken Pride when one steps foot inside. I wasn't at all impressed. read more

Great spot for a high school graduation. I was kind a bummed when the school first announced that graduation would be held here. My dad has bad feet so I dreaded the parking, walking, climbing that I thought we would encounter. Luckily, the adjacent parking structure was adequate for everyone and cost only $6. The walk was short, but pleasant, as we passed by a little man made lake and the baseball field. I even noticed that golf carts were shuttling people that couldn't walk on their own. The seats were not assigned and we scored nice comfy padded seats, which made a 2 hour ceremony pleasant. I liked how the jumbotron screens showed a dvd of school memories before the ceremony began and then focused on the graduates as they crossed the stage. Everything was neat and tidy and fresh. read more

"The Chafe" is home to the St. Louis University Men's and Women's Basketball teams as well as SLU's Women's Volleyball teams. It is also designed to host a myraid of events including concerts, the circus, bullriding and comedians to name a few. I went for a SLU basketball game and it was an unbelievable experience. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Instead of a main scoreboard, there are 4 giant TV screens in the corners of the arena. The food is marginal at best. Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs and Toasted Ravioli's are all for sale as well as Bud and Bud Light. In my opinion, you are better off going to Humphrey's in advance and after the game. All in all "The Chafe" is a great facility and will elevate the stature of SLU Athletics. read more

For basketball. This is a fantastic arena. Every seat of 10.5 thousand has a good view. As a Catholic school, of course they sell beer! I wish more schools would use this layout! It may not be the most profitable way however. If every seat is good, its that much harder to sell your expensive tickets. Usually the suites/box seating are lower and closer to the court. At chaifetz, the donors are the furthest away. Really isn't that how it should be? If they're constantly going back for buffet/drinks and just watching the TVs? The screens are in the corners and there is no hanging score board that interferes with sporting events. The only real down side is handicapped accessibility and parking. There is not a nearby drop off point for the games, but there are shuttles (extended golf carts) constantly running people to and from parking. They will comp you tickets (in exchange for whatever tickets you were holding) if you need a wheelchair accessible seat. This year (not in the past?) the band as been so loud you can barely talk to the person next to you. Maybe as the SLU team is disappointing, the band is going to make all of the noise for a home court advantage? The fans sure aren't cheering loudly or coming out in big numbers. Anyway great arena. Better than Hinkle-Butler, Cintas-Xavier, UD arena-Dayton, Fifth-Third arena-Cincinnati, Nutter Center-Wright State, and Mizzou arena. read more

Saw a cirque show here "Alegria" this is a terrible venue for this kind of show. most annoying were the ushers who couldn't/wouldn't keep the curtains closed and kept letting in daylight when they had turned off all the lights for the show. The ushers kept going in and out, letting the curtain swing around them and let in the light. so annoying and distracting!! The arena also doesn't have surround sound which greatly takes away from the experience of a cirque show. read more

As a venue for Billikens games, I would give it a four. As a concert venue, I would give it a two, so hence the three as an average. My first concert here was the Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys several months back, and my group thought the sound was terrible- distorted and lots of feedback. I also had friends in different seats that shared a similar experience on the other side of the arena, and they even left early in frustration. I am hoping that when I see Muse here in March that my experience is much better. I do think that the space was primarily built to house the Billikens and be a SLU event space, so acoustics and concert logistics might have been an afterthought. I have been to two graduation ceremonies here, and it's a great venue to have in place for that type of event. It basically allows unlimited friends and family in to see the graduation in a comfortable and organized way. Many schools don't have this luxury. I went to a Billikens game last season and just last weekend, and both of those experiences were terrific. Not a bad seat in the house, great sight lines, two huge scoreboards, and good sound. Good access to restrooms, snacks, and beverages. The parking is tough- even the Chaifetz garages are far away, and they only take cash. I learned my lesson when I was a bit more dressed up for the concert- this is not a walk you want to make in heels! Billikens games are more casual, so not an issue. Seeing that Temple was in town from Philly to play SLU last night, i called my Dad who is a season ticket holder and invited myself to the game with him last night. What a great time. For all of you basketball junkies out there, going to a SLU mens game should move to the top of your agenda. Without an NBA team here, we were forced to grow up with the Monroe Douglass/Anthony Bonner Billikens. The old Kiel center, the new Kiel center, the arena, scottrade building etc - whatever you want to call the venues here in STL, they have been insufficient to the type of field-houses that work in college basketball (Allen Fieldhouse, Cameron Indoor etc). Even if 10,000 fans showed up to one of these monster facilities, you could only hear crickets. There has never been a collegiate-type atmosphere in STL. All of that has changed. Adding Rick Majerus as a coach and building this deal give us a great home-court advantage and a fun place to watch basketball. Doesn't seem like there is a bad seat in the house, fans are on-top of the floor. Great mix of old stl money and college kids to support the team. Had a wonderful time and cannot wait to bring the kids. read more
