You won't come here for the food. It's overpriced and underwhelming given the better quality and prices you could get in Chinatown. It's ridiculously over the top - £16 for a bowl of crab and corn soup? That said, the ambience is top notch and they have a proper wine list that you won't get in other Chinese restaurants. The service is good although they didn't top up our wine which was annoying given the price. The tables are also too small for Chinese family style food sharing. We spent too much time trying to clear space.

Table with the chopsticks from the floor

Tempura is fine, but does not worth £17 price. Seafood noodle is salty and tastes like street food. The shrimp is still cold. Definitely not worth the £32. Worst about the restaurant is the server put the chopsticks on the table after picking them from the floor. You don't see that because that's before you are seated.

Very delicious, at the top floor of the shop. Highly recommend. All the foods tasted very like the cuisine in China.

Really overpriced for the portion and food. I did enjoy the half duck dish (68 pounds) but would definitely recommend Chinatown if you're searching for tasty Chinese food. Also hard to find in Harrods (5th floor).

This was a regimen by a colleague and I must say we were very pleased . The food was delicious and service was excellent . I loved the variation of dishes and will definitely recommend to family and friends if visiting in London . It is a little pricey but worth the splurge.

The food is INCREDIBLE. I'm an avid sushi lover and the sushi did not disappoint. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting with dark moody tones. The servers are very knowledgeable about the menu and the overall taste and presentation is impeccable. I had two sushi rolls and the seafood noodle bowl and I would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you for such a great experience!

Located on the fifth floor of Harrod's, this pan-Asian cuisine restaurant was a huge disappointment. I first became acquainted with this restaurant years ago. My experience was this restaurant was very, very expensive and the service and ambience where simply okay. My dish had to be sent back to be remade. A 12.5% service is automatically added to the bill although it is not deserved. I think there are better options in London if you are interested in high-end Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is open all day. www.chaiwu.co.uk

At first we were very doubtful about this place since it has opened few months ago without any sufficient media coverage or even any customers reviews. We took it as risk & decided to give it a try & write our sincere opinion hoping to help those who are confused about this place as we were in the past. Baring in mind our delightful, unforgettable experience at Haskkan , mayfair which is a chinese restaurant too (you can find my review about it in my page) When we were seated ; the waiter has instantly offered their recommendations after learning about our preferences. They have recommended a very rare type of 100£+ beef that she claimed to be offered only in their restaurant & will be presented personally by their chief, we thought it would be too pricey to spend 100£ on the beef alone rather than spending it in 3 course meal. *******their menus: Their menu in comparison to Haskkan was very limited & a bit pricey as their prices ranges from 12-20 jumping to 68-98£. Their dessert menu was the most basic section in their menu; it included 2 types of chocolate melting cakes one with vanilla & the other with green tea; the remainings were normal icecreams flavour they had for 5£. *******our orders As to our orders we had crispy duck salad, sea food special noodles, Wagyu beef skewers & berries blast for the drinks & lastly their chocolate ball dessert with vanilla icecream in the inside & hot white chocolate sauce on top. The duck salad was amazing, identical to the one we had at Hakksan, -that became my very fav from that since- it was crispy, with a sweet taste with its added Pomegranate and with a touch of sourness into it; the duck taste is barely visible. I would give the salad 10/10. The seafood noodles was sadly disappointing as it was very salty & the sea food tasted frozen & the noodles were tasteless. 3/10 The drink was amazing, it looked liked a taste of honey was added to it, it was a blast! 10/10 The dessert tasted OKAY nothing was special about it that would remind me of this place. It wasn't bad either; it had a traditional taste. We were hoping for a dessert with a flavor twist. 8/10 The beef -which we had meduim rare-was the BEST part; they were 3 small pieces squared shape beef thus it wasn't enough! We ordered a 2nd tasty dish from it.10/10 ******overall review I would actually encourage people in London to try it , it's not surely the BEST Chinese restaurant in London since Hakksan can win in that comparsion so easily ; yet this place deserves to be given a chance & be discovered & rated fairly. As an overall i would give that place 7/10. Cheers!

We had a lovely dinner at Chai Wu after spending the day at the Harrod's Spa (Urben Retreat) as well as lots of Harrod's shopping.

Food: I reserved the vegetarian tasting menu. It was very good. Each plate was tasty, but admittedly a little forgetful. I know I enjoyed my meal, but I could not tell you which dish was my favorite. Every thing was well plated and pleasing to the eye though. Service: Service was generally good. I was seated at the bar area, understandable as a solo reservation. However, given how the dishes came out, I didn't have enough space most of the time for the dishes. The servers and such were all nice and knowledgeable. They were trained well. My main server did stand uncomfortably close to me a few times to describe my meal. He also asked pointedly why I chose the vegetarian option that evening. He seemed bothered when I said it was because I was vegetarian. However, even with these minor details, it was still good service overall. TL;DR - a michelin take on Chinese food that was tasty with decent service.

Clearly feeling overwhelmed. Placed an online order that was projected to be ready at 8:10 pm. I got there at about 8:15pm and the woman that greeted me was pretty calm cool and collected even though the place was JAM PACKED- with several people waiting outside to pick up delivery orders or waiting to be seated. She was multitasking for sure- taking orders at tables, dealing with Uber Eats folks, as well as people coming in for a table, and me picking up my online order. It was a bit of chaos but she said to give her 2 mins. I said I'll give you 5 trying to be cool because she was working hard. About 13 mins later a young woman (20s or so) came over and asked me to step outside. I politely told her 'that woman' (pointed in the nice lady's direction) said I could wait here, so I'd rather stay here to get my order. Based on her facial expression and the fact that she went to another employee to obviously complain about me - I wasn't going to budge - and get sent outside to be forgotten about. My order was given to me by the nice woman about 8:45pm- 35 mins after the time stated online. A bit aggravating for sure but thanked the nice lady for being so nice. Speaking from my personal and professional experience people can generally forgive a lot of things if the person they are dealing with is nice. All that to let you know that my family and I thought the food was pretty darn good. I will definitely get the chicken wings again as they were cooked perfectly and with just the right amount of crispness to them.
