Tasty fresh food , I ordered daal Makhani , r corn chaat , coffee - everything was good

The house thali and moringa parantha , were awesomely fresh and delicious today. Home like simple and tasty food. Always our go to place.

Even though the place was packed and plenty of waiting, we got our table quickly. This was our first dinner time visit (been here several times for snacks and chai). Orders were taken quickly and appetiser arrived immediately. Sabudana vada were a little on the small ish size for just 2 per order. Everything else was fabulous - kofta was soft and curry was nutty and creamy. Daal makhani 24 h was mind blowing. Naans tend to be little bit on a thicker side here. Roti were soft and hot. Noodles though not really hakka style, tasted really good with chili garlic, hot sauce taste. Chai was hot and perfect! All in all good vegetarian food one stop shop for to snacks, chaat items and family dinner. read more

There was a monthly special menu and holi special 3 course menu. We did not do the holi special but we did order one item from monthly special. It is long time since we have been here on Friday night it was crowded though. We ordered the sprouts bhel , it was ok but for sprouts bhel we want to see more sprouts than normal bhel. It was there but not prominent as it should be. Kollu soup was ok, spices were on the milder side. Pesto naan with methi was best of what we had, zthe Naan itself was well nade and had right amount of pesto on it. The methi side with paneer was good and we can feel the freshness in the dish. It was also accompained with onion and pickle with lemon missing. Service was good, but cleaniness is much desired. So good! When we dined in, we ordered: - the chaat combo which included two chaats of your choice along with a beverage of your choice plus papad. We got the hara bhara bhel and the sev batata dahi puri along with a chai - methi poori with aloo bhaji While the chaats were great, we were blown away by the methi poori and aloo bhaji. We inhaled the dish so no photo! I've never had it elsewhere but I wish other restaurants would serve this tasty dish. One star off for their service. They sat us in a corner and no one came to take our order. I flagged someone down and even then it took them a while to send someone and no one acknowledged the long wait. read more

It has been a while since we visited Chaat Bhavan. Bhel thali used to be a default order on most visits earlier. This time I ordered regular thali. So underwhelmed with the items on the thali. Except for dal and dal makhani, not a single item tasted good. Previously we used to see khadi/chole/paneer dishes on the thali. The rest two curries were aalo stir fry and another aalo curry. There was a halwa and another namesake dessert, seemed like diluted version of rabdi with nothing in there. Completely disappointed with this when I was hoping to eat their nostalgic thali. Samosa chaat too lacked chole. Disproportionally more samosa than chole. read more

I have been here more times than I care to admit. Catered almost 3-4 times as well. Food used to be excellent, this was the gold standard to compare against other restaurants. But over the years the quality has fallen down. I catered for an office event as well and it ended up being disastrous. Our most recent dining experience was literally eye opening to make us realize this place wasn't what it used to be. I have a hunch that their best/star chef keeps moving to their newest location leaving behind the other branches with recipes which the cooks can barely replicate. Anyway, this time we got Chana batura, chole kulcha, Chana samosa and, just for kicks, Hakka noodles. The dishes were bland across the board and the Hakka noodles were floating in oil. read more

I was craving Chole Bhatura and found this place close by on Uber Eats. I compared the price for the same dish at a couple of other places and this place seemed reasonable. The place is in a small strip mall in Sunnyvale and has ample parking, when I went to pick up the food, it was later in the afternoon and it was not too crowded. This place is vegetarian and has an extensive menu - chaat and regular dishes. You can ask for spicy or not spicy and I picked spicy and boy was it spicy! I got a good size container of chaat and 2 bhaturas. I asked for some mint and tamarind chutney and they gave me 2 small containers without any question. I was prepared to pay but didn't need to. There is only inside seating and the place was not full. The tables are well spaced out and service was prompt. My food was ready when I got there and it was piping hot. The bhatura itself was soft and chewy and the chole was very tasty but watch out if you ask for spicy, it may be too spicy for some people to handle. It was too spicy for me but I still enjoyed the food. Looking forward to exploring their menu more! read more

the food is super good!!! there's so many options, and a ton of bread ones which is great. lots of vegetarian options which is great. the prices were very good and so were the serving sizes! we went on a friday afternoon, and it wasn't busy so we got sat super quick. our server was sukhmandeep, and he was great! he was super helpful and polite, our food got out fast and he checked to make sure our order was right and everything was good. because we lack spice tolerance, we ordered everything mild/no spice and he was very accommodating and nonjudgment with that. read more

Stopped by Chaat Bhavan for dinner and it was popping Saturday night around 8:30 when my friend and I dropped by. We snagged one of the last tables. It's a vegetarian restaurant with a large selection of chaat and snacks as well as curries. Please note that a large number of items on their menu are starred as Jain, which means no onions or garlic, so keep that in mind when you order. My friend and I shared one of our favorites - chana bhatura ($12.99) - as well as one paneer bhurji roll with plain paratha ($13.99). We liked the bhatura, but the chana / chickpea curry tasted like something was missing. We thought it might've been because it was made the Jain way with no onion and garlic. Neither of us liked the paneer bhurji roll. It was super bland, for one, and incredibly oily. Would recommend skipping this. read more

It is disappointing that our once go to place is below par. The quality is going down by the day. Had house thali and kofta pulao and both taste bland with an overload of butter. Decent food. We mainly came here for chaat. They have an extensive selection of food. We got the vada pav, dahi batata sev puri, the sabudana vada and the mixed veg pakoras with masala chai and masala soda. Everything was well-made but we would have liked the sabudana vadas to be bigger. They were more like small patties. The chaat isn't out of the world mind blowing but it is good enough. Their servers need to coordinate or at least look up orders before approaching tables. We were asked twice if we wanted to order something when we already had. read more

The two stars were taken away as the service was awful. Reserved in advance and arrived on time yet waited almost 20min to get the order taken and that too had to go to cashier counter to request help. And the food took another sweet 25 min and that came in intervals of 5min in the next 15 min. Some of the orders were not delivered and had to remind the non existent servers who also confessed that they don't have enough team members on that day. The entree and chats were perfectly seasoned, authentic and as usual of Bay Area restaurants, the portions were significant so you have to take home good portions. The decor and booths were a bit tad dated and the service/cleanliness could see good improvements. Have good potential if the management takes care of service quality. read more

I ordered this to go for the first time and I'm not sure how I really feel about their food. Makki Di Roti & Saag: The roti totally overpowered the taste of saag and felt quite greasy (in comparison to the rotis I have had in the past). I honestly did not like the combo. I tried the Saag with rice and that's when I could actually taste the mustardy taste and spices from the Saag. Chana Bhatura: The puffed bread that comes with the chickpea curry is again extremely greasy. It does complement the chickpea curry much more than the roti/Saag combo. I quite enjoyed the chickpea curry, but again, the flavor of the chickpea curry comes out more with plain rice. Overall, I wasn't too impressed. Do not come here today on New Year's Eve. We are seated on table since 5:50pm. It's 7:10pm now and we have not received our appetizers even. They are brining one dish out in 20 minutes. We have yet to receive our two appetizers. Since we were so hungry and tired of waiting, we asked for rice to eat with daal that we had ordered while we wait. That itself took 15 minutes to bring to table. It's totally mismanaged here today. And nobody is accountable here. The manager is making excuses- printer is not working, paneer kabab takes more than hour to prepare, which we never received. We got Veg Galouti Kabab at 7:15 after speaking with manager, but they came out cold. Save yourself the unpleasantness on New Year's Eve, go somewhere else. We are a regular here for so many years. Very disappointed today, The manager is serving only To-go orders. We drove from Morgan Hill to eat here but are going back with our worst experience till date. read more

My daughter recommended we try this restaurant after I requested Indian food...one of my favorite types of food and cultures. The service, ambiance (don't let the outside of this building fool you), and perfectly executed dishes were both delicious and refreshing. We started with two appetizers, had a paneer a dhal, garlic naan, and tried two different desserts. The waiter was helpful in choosing our dishes-kind and patient. All 3 of us were delightfully satisfied with everything. The staff is attentive and the feel of this place is classy, but warm, and very family friendly. Terrible experience! I had some random person use my loyalty account and redeem $14 on my account and I haven't been to this place in 2+ years !!! I wasted 45 minutes of my life trying to get this fixed and the manager was unapologetic and basically said stuff like this happens - there is no way of checking and my point was -- don't you check on the name of the person you are redeeming the points for -- they put the loyalty points back in my account like they were doing me a favor. I'm not an expert on Indian food, but I know what I like and I enjoyed my lunch quite a bit. First, I believe it's a full veggie restaurant. My friend and I had three items: Chaana Sag, which is garbanzo beans, spinach, and herbs. Very tasty with just the mildest of mild spices. Quite tasty! Second was Paneer Tikka Masala. Truly delicious. Creamy and rich. Cottage cheese squares, onions, and more delicious spices. Not spicy hot at all. We matched these with two types of naan. Regular and garlic. I personally thought the garlic was the best I've had. Crunchy and soft at the same time. Loaded with delicious garlic. Perfect eating with those dishes. You order on the app but unfortunately I have to report the service is very, very slow. For these basic items, probably took 20-25 minutes to receive. And we had to ask for the bill. The lunch section was very small but not cramped. And there is plenty of parking. I did see some outdoor seating which may/may not have been theirs, and it looked like there might be an extension to the restaurant, perhaps for dinner or big parties, but I'm not quite sure. This was one of the most hilarious experiences of eating Jhal Muri! Knowing what jhaal feels like, knowing what jhaal muri feels and tastes like - this was a joke! It was set into a heart shaped cookie baking kinda small dish - the entire amount of muri used would have been two fist fulls. It was served soggy and lacked authenticity. Pomegranate seeds!! Really, never seen that in India! Can't call it fusion, can't call it selling it for American palate. This place is ruled out (for me and my peeps) as a "give it another try." The serving sizes are that of anorexia - beyond small! Unhealthy. The jhaal muri serving in a heart shape was good for a toddler serving. Pricey considering taste, quality-quantity! read more

Our recent experiences at Chaat Bhavan have been very good. We usually prefer mild spice food especially for my kid and they are very kind to accommodate the request and make sure the taste is still not compromised. We usually try their thali, tomato soup, chaat and vegetables - Rajma, mixed veg.
