Mike Zumpano was stationed at the fire truck and boy do they keep these machines in beautiful condition always ready to respond. Inside the event I spoke with several of the fire professionals about fire risk, prevention and historical battles including the challenges they face especially in the high wind areas here in Ventura County. These men and women are true heroes as their sacrifices in protecting our communities is not only appreciated, admired and praised it is nothing short of a blessing. We must honor them and thank them every chance we get. What a great group of knowledgeable, skilled, caring and experienced professionals, true heroes!

Chief among these reasons is the complaint that the system is so inefficient. You have to spend all damn day sitting in the Jury Room waiting to see if you will be called for a jury panel. The inefficiency is irritating to the point of exasperation for many people. In the past, every time I've served I've overheard people saying, There's Got To Be A Better Way. Ok, you're not going to believe this, but they finally discovered a Better Way! For real, they actually fixed the inefficiency problem. You no longer have to wait around all day. These days when you are called you are assigned to either the morning (8-12) or afternoon (1-5) group. If you are not called to a courtroom, you are excused after your four hours. Now jury service is 4 hours, or one trial (should you be called to a courtroom and empaneled). OMG, what an improvement! And this morning there were no cases to be heard, so we were released at like 10:20, with full credit. Best jury service ever! We live in the richest country in the history of the world. Our lives are better than 99.99999% of all the people that have ever existed since the beginning of time. And the country doesn't really ask that much of us as citizens. Some people can be pretty irate or need a lot of help navigating how to send their items or get their needs addressed. ($29.98 x2) Just like my May package that ended up costing $73 in VAT even tho it was a gift under the £50 limit (6 items / $40 declared value by me- these idiots put $240 total value on their printed form cuz 6x40 ) This time I caught them and confronted the manager. What a waste of my time "If you check the gift box they don't charge VAT" she says- not true! The manager there doesn't know their OWN policies and refused to take any responsibility when confronted with their mistake or own the fact that she doesn't train her staff properly Check your packages like a hawk before you pay!
