Psycho Turtle Collectibles is such a fun find in Pico Rivera! I took my son in to pick up a few…read morecards, and we ended up discovering so much more. The store has an awesome vibe, with tournaments going on and lots of people laughing, playing, and having a great time. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Draven was amazing! His knowledge of Magic: The Gathering is next level, and he took the time to teach my son the basics without making him feel overwhelmed. As a parent of a total newbie, I really appreciated that. They also have a great selection of cards, Funko Pops, and collectibles at reasonable prices. It's the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave already planning your next visit!

Enjoyed meeting this community of smash players in this tourney, held at Psycho Turtle PLAY…read more(Collectible's game room, several doors down from the retail store). Brightly lit with 16 gaming stations, livestreamed from stations 1&2. Overhead tv screen streams for players and guests. Commentators have gaming chairs and headsets and are seated behind the owner's work station. (Very cool, Troy - this is a really great space you've created!) Cool collectibles are on sale at their store a few doors down, and here - including backpacks;). I also spied a Monopoly Gamer MarioKart box! Venue is available for reasonable rental rates for parties and tourneys. Just see Troy! A variety of beverages (Keurig for hot and a fridge for cold) are available as well as a ton of sweet and savory snacks (the Grub Chest -freezer- is a frozen tundra though) and there is a convenient microwave. Long blue tables hold everyone's backpacks and water bottles, and it was nice to see people chatting and getting to know each other when not in game. And yes, they have a restroom! (Shout out to the very clean restroom with a bidet, no less!). Visit here, game here, and tourney with Pico Plus So Cal Project M Gamers here! (Shout out to today's hosts: Pico Plus So Cal Project M Gamers & Psycho Turtle Collectibles & Play!)

Bad service and poor communication…read more I've been trying to catalogue my MTG collection lately. I drove 40 min to get to this shop because they have a machine that scans your cards. I paid the shop to rent the machine and waited for 2 hours. Then the staff told me "We made a mistake setting this up. We can't give you the scanned info, but leave your cards behind and your email address, and we can send them over. You'll just need to scan this thing we send you." I was uncomfortable leaving my cards behind because they're important to me. But I didn't want to walk away empty-handed. So I decided to trust them and I left my cards behind. I didn't hear anything for 4 days. I had to call them and they said "Oh the employee you were talking to got sick. If you want to pick up your cards you can do that though." I asked "How about scanning my cards?" and they said "We'll message the sick employee and call you back to let you know what he says". I waited 3 more days and they didn't contact me at all. I realized they weren't going to reach out to me to resolve the issue, so I had to drive down to the store to demand my cards back. I don't know who the person running the back of the shop is. Maybe the manager. Maybe the owner. All I knew is that they had context on the whole situation and knew that I had returned to get my cards. They didn't bother to come over to talk to me. They didn't even give me eye contact. They didn't make even a single attempt at improving the situation. Not even an offer for store credit. Not even a sorry. They just shrugged and yelled across the room "machine's broken". Then they went back to puttering around and left another employee to deal with me. This other employee had no context on the situation. All she could do was hand me a cash refund and give me a confused "Sorry...?" I was treated like I was an annoyance. Someone who'd go away eventually if you ignored them. Not a respected customer who just wanted to do business. I'm not mad that the machine was allegedly broken. I'm only slightly mad that the employees aren't trained on how to use the machine. I'm frustrated that I paid for a service and they didn't bother seeing the job through to the end. They didn't communicate when they decided to give up. I trusted them with my personal card collection and they betrayed that trust. I don't even know if I have all my cards back, but I'll never know. Save yourself the stress.

This is my weekly hangout for PFS2 games. Better than average acoustics for RP Games. Very…read morefriendly, helpful staff.

I mean if you haven't visited frank and son... are you really a true nerd? I don't think so. I've…read morebeen to Frank and son since they were located at the previous location when I was kid. That place felt massive. This location does feel a little smaller, but it's still massive. Plenty of vendors and variety, some shady vendors that will overcharge too much or just be plain rude, but overall it's a great experience as you will find very niche and interesting/weird stuff. You will also find vendors selling things for great prices. Make sure to bring cash and most vendors will give you a discount. The only downside is even with the ridiculously large parking area, it STILL fills up every single day. It's literally always busy, so prepare to walk a lot. Always fun to visit every once in a while.

This place is so popular that it is very hard to find parking. One time, I was looking at buying some TCG cards, when a guy bought a whole booster box, opened them all, picked out the couple cards he wanted and asked the vender if they wanted to buy the rest back. Vender refused, so I offered $20 for everything. It was amazing. Now, it's gotten way too commercial for my liking. Everything cost way more than they should, and You can't find a deal anywhere. Last week, I came in looking for a couple MTG to fill out my cEDH deck. Seller says they price things competitive off TCGPlayer website, and then quoted me $6over the tcg price for a $20 card. He says they have to charge more since the booth costs them money. So... I could just buy online, save the upcharge, and you will have to pay for shipping? Thanks but no thanks.
