WOW WOW WOW! Cermacoat made these tubs look better than I ever could've imagined. I hired Cermacoat to refinish two beat up pressed steel bathtubs for a clients rental property. These tubs had chips in them, old grody stickers, and looked like father time had not been kind to them. Daryl came out and knocked out the first tub in one day, and when I saw that he made it look BRAND NEW I said - Daryl you've gotta do the other one!!! They even came back a second day to put an anti skid treatment on the bottom so that no one slips. The finish is impeccable and no one would ever suspect these aren't new tubs. They look magnificent! Rehabbing the garage in my nearly 100 year old house and needed help fixing an antique cast iron sink. Pete came and for a very reasonable fee transported this beast of a sink, cleaned, removed the old coating and re-enameled it. (They also saved the old hardware so I can I blend in some of the old worn bits for a mixed vintage look) I suspect it looks better than it did when it rolled off the factory floor in 1924. Used these guys over 15 years ago on a tub and shower. Could not have been happier. Had zero problems and all this time later it still looked great. Fast forward to today. I find myself in a new house with wonderful pink tile in all three bathrooms from the early 1980's. It would have been well over $10,000 to re-tile this. But instead I called Cermacoat. Several days later I have all new bathrooms that look great in white. The pink is gone. The guys from Cermacoat are meticulous in prep and masking everything off. I could not have been happier with the work. I have known people that have had this done by someone else and it peeled. Watch out for other companies. If they are cheaper, there is a reason. It takes a lot of work to PROPERLY prep the surface to accept the coating. It's no wonder these guys have been in business for almost 40 years. read more

We were referred to this company from Pasadena Salvage and we have been trying to inquire for a quote for a month or so. When they finally answer or call back, I was able to send a photo of our tub to them through text- but never heard back. My husband and I kept trying to hear from them because Pasadena Salvage said they did a great job, so for our 1930's we held on and kept trying to reach them in hopes of them coming lol. Anyways, the owner I think finally called back, recognized that tub pictures but didn't say anything about why he didn't respond- either way he is not able to do it. 1. No time 2. There are no chemicals to fully strip the previous top coat that the previous homeowners had done. It's just a bit shocking to me because I'm sure we're not the only young kids trying to fix old fixtures- lol so if he's being recommended by a salvage store but he can't helps us with our old fixtures then what do we do? maybe we just have bad luck. Either way customer service goes a long way for me and this company was not the best. Hopefully it was just our tub he didn't want to drive to, or he has so much business that our job was not worth it. TERRIBLE, AWFUL, HORRIBLE QUALITY AND SERVICE--STAY AWAY! If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I recently purchased a condo where cermacoat had been hired to refinish a bathtub in the unit. Upon moving into the unit, the cermacoat finish on the tub was already bubbling, chipping, and peeling. In other words, the TUB HAS NEVER BEEN USED SINCE CERMACOAT REFINISHED THE TUB, BUT IT IS ALREADY BUBBLING, CHIPPING, AND PEELING. I can only imagine what it is going to look like when somebody actually uses the tub. Cermacoat advertises on their website that, "Satisfaction guaranteed," and "5 year written warranty." NOT SO! Cermacoat completed work on this tub less than a couple of months ago, the TUB HAS NEVER BEEN USED, yet Cermacoat now wants more money to do the repairs. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a pattern with Cermacoat. Another review talks about the tub chipping after very limited use of using it to wash a baby. Similarly, Cermacoat did not want to make the repairs. This company does TERRIBLE WORK, and FALSELY ADVERTISES on its website. Our house is pretty old and the bathtub is original, showing its age with dark stains, I could never get it (really) clean. The guy on the phone explained everything thoroughly. I texted Pete Pesqueria (Cermacoat) on 9/19/2019 explaining that I had an Eljer sink that had cracking and rust around the overflow hole, and sent him some pictures of the sink. He quoted me $350 for the repair and the refinish. I met Pete in Hermosa Beach at the Trader Joes parking lot and showed him the sink. I told him that part of the sink corner had chipped off was taped to the underside of the sink with blue painters' tape for reference, if needed. Pete told me a story about how he was finding just the right blue color for an elderly lady that wanted her sink repaired. He showed me a bunch of pictures of the sink and said he found the exact color match. He said that he "had to do a really good job because she would tell everybody if he was not able to get just the right color". He worked hard to show me his credibility as a color specialist and his commitment to customer satisfaction. He assured me he would compare color choices for a match in different lights because direct sunlight was totally different than indoor home lighting. He said that both he and his brother would look at my sink and mix a couple of test colors on the actual sink before it was refinished to get the closest match. He pulled out a few color cards to show me. I told him that I was not very good with colors, and that since this was his profession, I would leave it up to him to refinish the sink in the same color. Pete told me that if he did not have the correct color match for my sink at his shop he would order the closest colors and adjust the color until he got it just right. He said he always had white in stock at his shop, but other colors would have to be ordered, which would take a week. I told him it sounded great. He said once he had the correct color match he would contact me to let me know and then refinish the sink. On 9/30/2019, I texted Pete because I had not heard from him. He texted back that he was refinishing the sink that week, and he would contact me with delivery options soon. On 10/07/2019 Pete texted me to ask if 10/10/19 was good to meet for delivery. I met him at the Manhattan Beach Target parking lot and gave him a check. The sink looked fine. You could tell that it had been sprayed with some sort of spray gun because it was not as smooth as the original finish but not a bad job. On Saturday 10/12/2019 I placed the sink in the bathroom counter hole and noticed that the color was much different than the original sink's color and did not match the second sink in the counter. I also noticed that the sink refinished by Cermacoat still had the blue painters tape on the bottom holding the original paint chip from the sink. I took the chip off and placed it on the sink. It was completely different. The refinished sink color was much lighter than the original chip. I immediately took pictures of the sink with the chip on it to show the difference and sent them to Pete. I did not hear back from him so I texted him again on 10/14/2019. I asked him to call me or text me because I could not use the refinished sink because the color was wrong. It no longer matched the chip nor the other sink in the bathroom counter, originally a matching pair. This time Pete responded saying, "Actually, it is very close to the original, not sure what your other sink color is". I told him that I still had the original sink chip, and it didn't match the color of the refinished sink. I explained that it was shown in the photo I sent him, and again noted that the refinished sink was a different color than the original chip. This was on 10/14/2019, and there was no response from Pete. On 10/15/2019 I texted him again and asked, "What can we do about this? This is not an acceptable color". Pete said 'when we met in the parking lot he wrote 'Sedona Beige / match to the existing color' on the receipt'. He said that he 'altered the final color to the best possible match'. I reminded him 'he said he would match the color for a true match by checking the color in different light'. Pete texted back, "Where is the paint chip from?". I responded, "from the original sink before it was refinished". I reminded him that 'when I gave him the sink I told him that the paint chip was taped to the underside of the sink in case he needed it'. (Lucky for me it was still there to prove the color did not match the original sink color.) The pictures I sent him clearly showed that the color he refinished my sink did not match the original paint chip. I again texted him, "What are we going to do about this color?". Pete never responded back. Cermacoat's website says, "Satisfaction guaranteed", "Follow up inspection after every job", and "5 year written warranty". Clearly there is false advertising on the Cermacoat website. Cermacoat has the worst customer service I have ever seen from a company that has been in business as long as they have. read more

This is the third time I have used this company mover many years. Their service is fantastic. They are honest, fairly priced and reliable with appointment time. I had a tub in my home done may years ago and the coating lasted over 10 years (it would have probably last longer if the tub wasn't used by my teenagers who wreck everything). I had used Cermacoat to resurface my four foot bathroom sink in 1997, so I used them again this July 2013. Unfortunately the work was not well done this time. I have an older manufactured sink surface from the early 1980's. It can be resurfaced to look new. On July 16 and 17, 2013, Cermacoat did a poor job on resurfacing the sink. The new surface had pits, dust particles and uneven surfaces on the edges. I would not let their technician leave until he tried to fix the rough surfaces and pits. I called the business phone and was not pleased with their evading my questions on the quality of the work I was experiencing and my difficulty speaking to an owner. The technician at my house told me he was the owner and at first the office said he was not, then the office changed their statement. The technician did continue to wet sand and buff to a barely acceptable surface. I would not use this company again. I am so sorry I did not check YELP, but went with a company I used 25 years ago. read more

They refinished 2 bathroom's ,one had a classic bathtub and the master bath had a stall tile shower ,the white finish my parents chose still looks awesome today . When my wife and I purchased our latest home by the beach we had the Cermacoat done on a vintage pedestal style sink we picked up back East. The kinda sink you just can't find anymore ,and believe me it was in need of a new finish. We are so pleased with the job the guys did I had to put it here on Yelp. I just purchased a condo in North Hills and the bathtub/shower stall in the master bathroom was a lost cause (or so I thought). I was about ready to gut it out and replace it at a cost of $3000, but I decided to see if it could be refinished. Mind you, the stall was the original one from when the place was built in 1982. The finish had faded to a dull and nasty yellow and there were cracks and small pieces of plastic missing in the bottom of the stall. I made an inquiry after checking here on Yelp and the response time was amazing (next morning). Even better was being told they could meet me at 8am the next day to start the job! Not only was the job done fast, but the shower stall looks AMAZING. It literally looks like a brand new unit was installed! The customer service was awesome and they were early!! Amazing job by Peter. He removed a layer (or a few layers??) of some kind of paint from my porcelain tub. (The paint looked awful -- chipping and yellowed.) The job took him a few hours and he even had to return with a special tool on a separate day to finish up. Yet he still charged me the price he originally quoted me -- a VERY FAIR price for the work he did. (I actually felt bad and wanted to give him more.) And he was overall friendly and accommodating. I have never gone to the extent of writing a review on Yelp for any service but I felt compelled to share my experience on working with this company. This has strictly to do with customer service and not their product, so keep that in mind. I am an Interior Designer in Los Angeles and secured Cermacoat's services to reglaze a tub for a client of mine. I spoke with a gentleman named Pete on the phone who was really nice and outlined the process from top to bottom. They were able to find a reasonable time in their schedule to come out and do the job. I received and email from them confirming the appointment date and time they would be arriving as well as restating when they would be there and return the following day to close out the job. The morning of the service they arrived 30 minutes earlier than expected and my client please asked them to come back at the scheduled time. I arrived at the job anticipating Cermacoats arrival. About 10 minutes after their scheduled arrival time I decided to check my phone and saw an email from the company stating simply this: Hello, unfortunately we will have to decline the bathtub refinishing job at 517 n. Arden , Thank you anyway ,regards Mark Rolloff I was in shock. Never in all my years of interior design and managing renovation projects have I had someone completely flake on a job with no explanation. Of course I attempted to find out what happened and why they weren't coming, but no email or phone call was returned to me. Not only was this embarrassing to me and reflects on my services as a designer and someone who picks my vendors carefully but this totally through our renovations schedule out of whack. UPDATE 9/22/14: After posting this review Peter and Daryl from Cermacoat each called me to schedule a visit to inspect the blister. After their inspection, they offered to refund my $495 because I am not happy with their service. I am grateful for the refund and appreciate YELP for their website. I think my YELP review was helpful in getting their attention, although I cannot prove it. I am raising my YELP rating to 3 stars in consideration to Cermacoat for providing the refund. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If I could, would rate this company with "0" star. This company was highly recommended to me by a business that restores and sells vintage claw foot tubs. I did a good amount of research. I paid twice the cost of what other tub refinishers charge. I wanted the best possible finish that would not have any problems. This company told me they contract with USC for their dormitories which get a lot of abuse and lasts about 10 years. On their website they claim to use a patented 3M oxy-linked materiel that is supposed to be far superior to other tub paints and epoxy coatings. They have been in business for 44 years and claim they provide a 5 year written warranty. They refinished my tub in 2012. They did not provide the written warranty as described in their website. In 2013 a few blisters developed and were peeling. They repaired it but claimed it was not their fault saying it was caused by abuse. Actually, the tub is rarely used, only occasionally for bathing a 2 year old baby. Now, August 2014, there is another blister in another area of the tub. I called them again for a second repair and they are not responding. In fact, I called them several times over several days leaving messages. After a few days of calls, a man named Teak finally answered the phone. He took my information and said he would call back shortly with a repair schedule. Teak did not call back, so I called again in the evening and spoke to Peter. Peter said that he would call back on Tuesday after the Labor Day Holiday to schedule a repair. He did not call back Tuesday, so I left a message on Peter's cell phone Wednesday. I also called the office. After several rings, they picked up the phone and hung up immediately. I called back again and same thing. I called a third time and it rang busy. Since my ID is displayed on their phone, I assume they avoided my calls. The bottom line is they are not responding. I called 3M about this oxy-link material, and they knew nothing about it. I had my tub refinished in my condo 13 years ago by a different company and it had no problems for 13 years. I was able to sell the condo in 16 days without refinishing the tub. This Cermacoat goes on thicker, looks very nice, but in my case it did not bond well with the original porcelain. It seems to chip easily and the blisters occurred twice. read more
