Hard to find & parking is sparse at location and owner quoted me a ridiculous price for two end tables to be refinished. I am sure he does good work, however, it seemed like he didn't want to take the job of refinishing them. Maybe it wasn't worth it for him, as his quoted price was $1400 each! Worked with Roger to repair my old door for my laundry closet because I thought it would be cheaper than buying a brand new custom door. It works well, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with Roger. He was upfront about everything once he saw the extent of the break in person, and I loved being able to support a local tradesman with this job. I have worked with Roger twice now and have referred friends to the shop. He first worked a miracle on a kitchen cabinet door that I feel against and broke the door in half. Instead of trying to match the 10 year old stain on a new door, Roger glue and fix it. Turned out great! The next time I had him refinish my 25 year old kitchen table. I could have bought a new table for the price of refinishing but I really like my table and has served my family well. When I went to pick up my table it looked as good as the day it was delivered, actually better because I got to pick the stain color. Roger, Thomas and the crew at the shop are amazing and their craftsmanship is hard to find this days. You might pay a little more than you are thinking but in the end you will be sooo happy you did! read more

I loved working with Roger and meeting Thomas. A wonderful company and beautiful work done that I could witness in the warehouse setting. I previously could not find anyone to take on the reassembling of my antique chair. It had come apart and I had all the pieces, Up front, I felt the quote was very high and wasn't able to bring it down very much. However, I decided to go with having it repaired. Roger was very knowledgeable and I felt he would do a good job. My only disappointment upon picking it up and paying the balance was that, for the amount of money paid, I found the chair, which has the original everything , had just been left to sit uncovered in a corner near where all the work is performed on other items in the shop. It was covered in dust. fabric and all, with no attempt to try to even give it to me dusted. Although Roger said to be careful with it's use, I didn't expect it to be so wobbly when finished. When I got it home and looked at it more in the sunlight, there was a drop of something on the fabric which I'm sure will come out but with "my" cleaning it. There had been no attempt to even polish the arms of the chair. *I'd like to make clear that I did not ask to have any refinishing done, but, at least a nice polish would have been nice for the price. I will be doing it myself at home. All this being said, this kind of work is a dying art. Definitely check out this company and Roger Sweetingham. Just take care to be very clear in your questions, desires, and final expectations. Take nothing for granted. :-) read more

I've worked with Roger and Thomas both. Excellent work. They repaired a leg to an antique chair that had broken in half. It was part of a set and to look at the two I can't find any sign of the repair. Just recently they refinished a rosewood coffee table and end table I've had for 30 years. It had some water stains, a gouge in the top, paper that had stuck to it solid . . . and now it's like brand new. On top of that, as Roger was leaving my house after the estimate he saw a writing desk out of the corner of his eye and told me it was an 1880's era Eastlake desk. I say good value because he gave me his input and didn't charge me anything, and indicated his willingness to do the repair. Gave me a ridicules price. When I asked him specifics about why the price was so high he was not able to justify it, at the end saying " you're not going to get me to budge, you're going to piss me off". Really. I understand a person has to pay rent, employees and feed their family but as Tom Selleck says i've been around long enough to know what's what. Look I was in the military 23 years if you don't want the job just tell me no, i'm a grown man, I can take it. But do not try and rip me. Very knowledgeable and excellent service. We had a chess table damaged in an international move. Roger came to collect in in its delicate condition. It came back returned in better shape than when new! He also came to the house to give advice on our dining room table (antique). It has begun to separate in one area due to the dry conditions in Southern California. Knowing that we would return to a much more humid climate, his advice? Do nothing! I thought it might be a little expensive for my taste, but I had confidence in thier ability right from the start and the shop looked great. My coffee table I took 120 hours to build as one of the biggest projects from high school wood shop. So to say I needed it in the right hands was a understatement. So I hoped they would do it justice. Beyond my expectations, and they recommended taking it from the old finish which was a high gloss to a lower lustre, needless to say it not only looks new, it is with a new lower lustre finish, that was indeed the right choice. One of the curved slats across the back of a chair broke. We took it to Roger thinking the wood cracked. Turns out the glue came apart. He was able glue it back together and refinish the slat to match the existing finish. Happy to recommend Roger if you need wood refinishing. He's an old pro. read more
