Glaze options

A real gem! My toddler and I had a wonderful time! They have a huge array of options for projects ranging in price (starting at around $20) and size. Tons of colors to choice from, different tools and technique examples. They have a knowledgeable staff that got us set up and answered all of our questions. We are excited to come back soon for one of their children's storytime.

The ladies were SUPER helpful since it's kind of a unique process. They would stand there and brainstorm technique ideas with me to achieve a certain look, which I loved since I'm a ceramics newbie!! We really appreciated all the options too - both in colors and in items to paint. Plan for at LEAST an hour or two, unless you're a speed painter!

A great way to keep kids entertained for 2 to 3 hours. Sundays you get $3 off each pottery if there are 3 or more in your group. Ceramic selection starts at 12.50 or 20. Mugs are more expensive eh. It was really fun painting and designing our ceramics. After 4 days, you can pick up the finished product which looks even better than expected. I felt like Yayoi Kusama. My nephew loves his . He made sure to place it on his mum's work desk as soon as we got home.

By day he's mild mannered Roy G. Biv.

FPO and I are celebrating Spring with a 4-day weekend, exploring Kansas. We found Ceramic Cafe on Yelp and decided we had to give it a try. For just two of us we walked in but they recommend for larger parties to make reservations. It was pretty empty when we arrived a little after noon but filled up quickly as the day progressed. They have walls full of different pieces to choose from. I saw things from around $10 and up. You pick your piece and then see one of the employees, who'll help you pick out paint colors. Once you finish your piece you pay at the register. They glaze and finish your piece in the kiln and you pick up your masterpiece in about 10 days. The shop was airy and colorful, the people were nice. It was a lot of fun

A friendly place to come paint something totally unique. I've painted pottery a few times before and brought a friend who had never tried it. The staff were all delightful in helping choose colors, understand what things to avoid and suggesting techniques and the right tools to achieve what we each had in mind. Smocks to protect your clothing are provided. There's several huge racks of plain pottery pieces to choose from (expect to pay $28-40 for most pieces like mugs, bowls and small plates and up to $60-$80 for bigger pieces). The price you see includes the studio time and supplies needed to paint (. Even if you end up coming more than once to complete your project). You can also try glass fusing or painting stoneware. There's a private party room at the back and the crowd of kids back there when we visited were having a great time. No hesitation recommending this place.

Ceramic Cafe is a fantastic place for your next family outing, group activity, or even date night. The staff was super kind, knowledgeable, and helpful to our 11 person group. Any age and skill level is welcome. First, they seat you at your table. Then you pick out your piece. There is a ton to choose from, bowls, plates, serving trays, mugs, cups, pots, figurines, piggy banks, and on and on. Then you write your name on the bottom with a special pencil that stays during firing (even if you paint over it). Then you choose your colors, the staff will get the colors for you. They also have special speckle and glitter paints. Next you can outline your design in pen, not pencil. Pen disappears during the firing process, unlike pencil which will still show up after firing. Then you paint! They also have special detail tube paints for lines and writing. If you're a serious painter, bring your own brushes and tools as theirs get used by many people and wear out quickly. After painting, the pieces are ready to be picked up in about a week. Walk-ins are welcome, but call ahead if you have a group of 6 or more. Our group stayed for over 3 hours and they did not rush us or kick us out. Ceramic pieces range from $10-$75 (most are $16-$25), but unlike other ceramic paint places there are no other studio fees! Specials are listed on their website. We didn't do any glass fusing, but they have that too! They also offer all kinds of parties and even off-site painting (they will come to you)! On-site parties are welcome to bring any food or beverage too. Great location. There is plenty of parking. It's also only a 6 minute drive from Jack Stack OP (and many other restaurants nearby too).

Love this place! My husband and I took our 7 year old daughter here on a whim on a Friday night. We all enjoyed ourselves. They've got a ton of pieces for you to pick from. It's almost overwhelming. Once you've settled on a piece then you have to pick your paint colors. And the the fun begins! If you need help with any special techniques, just let the staff know. They are so friendly and helpful. There is no sitting/painting fee here which is nice. All you pay for is the piece you are painting. Most projects start at $16 and go up. You could easily spend an hour here, so that's not a bad deal. Now for the hardest part - waiting to see your finished project. Finished pieces are ready in about a week.

Loved the tile made and quality. Definitely a fun event to do with kids and to make a keepsake

This is a long overdue review from the service I received when I brought my daughter in for her footprint tile awarded to all births at Shawnee Mission Medical. The tile I received when I picked it up was beautifully smoothe and will be a treasured memento. I plan to come back with the family to have a family craft day. They offer many ceramic designs to choose from and the prices are $10-20 for a piece $4.5 kid sitting fee $7.5 adult sitting fee which includes help and all the materals. There was also Glass designs but I believe pricing is different and everything as a whole process might not be the same. The employees were so helpful to explain and be of service. The best customer service experience I've had. Check out their website or sign up for their notifications and you'll know when they have events. I remember seeing an event whloere you come and make margarita glasses. All the mugs and cups are dishwasher safe and foodgrade

We all painted heart shaped trays that were super cute, easy for all ages, and fun.

I've been to Creative Culture twice now, and loved it both times!…read more The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and answer questions clearly so there's no confusion about what to do or where to go. They also keep the space clean and organized, which is no easy feat given the nature of the business! The selection of crafts, while a bit pricey, is excellent. I've found that if it's in budget (you can find info on pricing on their website), you can find something fun for just about anyone. And regarding the price points, to me it does make sense given the cost of materials and labor involved. Whenever I go, I always leave room in my budget to add the suggested tip for the employees since they do such a great job and deserve to be paid well for it. Their specialty shakes are also AMAZING! Seriously, the price point they're at makes sense considering all of the extra goodies that are piled on top of the shake itself, and they're delicious! Just be sure to grab a napkin or two if you order one since it can get a bit messy. My one complaint, if I can even call it that, is that when it's especially busy it can be a bit cramped trying to walk around between the tables. That said, it's not bad enough for me to dock them a star since they use and manage their space well, and when I've been there people were generally conscientious of their surroundings which in turn reduced potential problems. All in all, Creative Culture is a bit pricey but very fun and well run! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a unique place to go for a celebration, special occasion, or even just because. I can't wait to go again someday!

When you first come in, you can look around and decide which craft you want to do, and then check out at the desk to pay and order your shakes. Then you seat yourself and can get started on your craft. we were there for like 3 hours, and no one tried to rush us. There was a 2-3 week wait for our clay painting pieces to get finished to pick up, but that's reasonable. Highly recommend this as a cute date or activity spot! It does get a little busy, and you may be sitting right next to people you don't know. But it didn't feel too cramped or crowded still, and it's perfect for chatting if you're up for it! And to add since this is something I often look up as well. LGBT friendly, we felt safe and comfortable.

We came for a half price studio feed which ended up being $4/ person. Aside from the below average customer service the facility itself smelt incredibly unpleasant. It smelt like a sewer the whole time and the smell never left the whole 90 minutes we were there. Pieces range in all prices- I think they're standard compared to other places. I'd come back if the smell wasn't so potent.

You can't see the options and feel intrusive squeaking by painting customers while they're focused on their pottery. We had some miscommunication on availability of the pottery item we were looking for - coasters/tiles. The employee "helping" sent us off to try and find the item we were looking for rather than assisting us. 2 - Service is bleak at best. These kids don't have any customer service foresight. We were never checked on during our almost 2 hours spent painting there. 3 - Majority of the paint pens were not functioning. Many paint cups were very low volume or empty. No one seemed to be servicing the supplies. 4 - The birthday party in the back space was poorly managed. Back in the day they used to have a host and distribute paints to the kids at the table. I was shocked, and annoyed the kids were allowed to go up and select from all the larger paint selections for the whole shop which continually caused traffic jams for all customers. Being next to the paint area was stressful with lots of people constantly moving around us. On another note, there was no party host from the employees other than getting the kids their pottery. I can't imagine tipping for that "service". 5 - Speaking of tipping - tip apparently is included in any purchase here?? There wasn't an option to enter $0.00 into the CC machine. We had 8 tiles ($7/each - [shocking... and I guess shame on us for not asking how much each cost] + 2 studio fees (a rip off considering we collaborately painted 3 of our 8 items). Our total was $90. HAVING TO pay 15% tip FOR NO SERVICE was bitter icing on a crappy cake. Honestly, not sure I'll be back.

I was GIDDY when I saw that Sunfire lets you make your own and they had a variety of sizes from which to choose. This is a popular item and event because the first painting party was sold out. I snapped at the chance to attend the second party and it was fabulous. The painting party was a ticketed event so I bought my ticket ahead of time. I was not quite sure what to expect but this met my expectations and more. The wonderful staff at Sunfire handhold you through each step of the process. Within minutes of picking my tree, I was being shown the process. The staff answered all my questions and they were so nice. You can tell the staff enjoys what they do and they have fun at work. They were so gracious to everyone. There were appetizers and wine... what a nice touch. I actually think I painted better after the wine. lol. This is a small, quaint building and used to be an old gas station. It was built in 1910 and that makes this space even more special. It is brightly and eclectically decorated and a very happy, creative space. Parking was not an issue and there seemed to be plenty of spaces despite not having a parking lot and being downtown. Access was very easy which is key for me. The prices seemed very reasonable and I could tell I got so much for my money. Well spent money for a fun event. I had so much fun that I am thinking of going back soon.

I paid $400 for my sister's Bachelorette party here on 9/27. I still do not have one of the items from my party. It's still waiting to be fired. I was told they changed owners and no one knows how to glaze now. Then I was told it costs $600 to fire the kiln so they're waiting to have enough pieces to fire it. Um, im sorry, you could've fired it with the rest of my stuff but that would require them to actually keep track of what belongs to who. They dont. They have you go rummage through all the projects from your same date and pick out what's yours. Oh, and they don't know how to use the phone either. I've called them 10 times DURING BUSINESS HOURS since 10-7 with no answer. No return phone call. When I went in to check on my project in person a month later, the girl couldn't find it and had to rub all the glaze off to see if it looked somewhat like the one my niece painted to give her mom for her wedding present which has long since passed. The owner claims all this is due to changing hands and when I requested a refund I was told they don't offer that but my next project would be free! Oh wow! Sign me up for that! Not!
