Our current download speed went from 1 to 3 Mbps (on a GOOD day) to nearly 80. In our home we are NORMALLY streaming on two TVs, with two to three gamers online--all simultaneously. And with all that going, we also have the whole "internet of things" running all over our home! Previous providers blamed poor quality on our 70 year old home, that our wiring was so old as to be obsolete, that the copper within the walls was and causing all the problems. When we basically FORCED them to send a tech to test everything outside the house, they finally conceded that it was the 60 year old hardware between their main and our telephone pole that was indeed the problem. CIS bypassed all of this because they do not use land-lines. A simple small radio receiver on the roof hard-line connected to a small cube inside the house is all we have now, and it is practically invisible! The cost is substantially lower as well. Install and equipment up front was comparable to the other major telecoms, but the monthly rate is about three-quarters of what I was paying before. I will provide more about customer service if I need to learn more, but from talking to their Office Manager, their Owner, and one of their technicians has definitely given me the idea that we have taken a step in a much, MUCH better direction.

I had the lowest cost plan, I do not require a lot of download speed, but buffering was always a problem. Customer service over the years has always left me feeling like its one big sales pitch. Trying to get a final bill and be done with these guys was problematic. Be especially careful when talking to Adam. Good luck.

When I received a bill from Verizon I called the corporate office and spoke with a supervisor who said they would take care of the bill...just like the 3 other phone companies that he opened an account with months apart. Then I received another bill and was on the phone for several additional hours trying to get a supervisor to help me. After speaking with 4 different people I finally was transferred to a supervisor named Axel. He would not provide his call center number...but he said it did not matter that my father was incapacitated that Verizon furnished him with a phone and he needed to return it or pay for it. I let them know we were not sure what happened to the phone...I asked to have the situation escalated and he said it was against company policy for this situation to be escalated. For the hours I spent on the phone was crazy. No one could help me...even though I myself had been a customer for years without incident...this incident has put a bad stench in the companies culture. I will be moving my business elsewhere.

While waiting, others may find it helpful to see the unusual one-time email that the CEO sent out pertaining to the outages of the last year (I would say couple of years). I personally thought it was not bad. -------begin copy and paste -------- [september 22, 2026] A message from our CEO about outages that are affecting Bluespan and other carriers in the area Dear Bluespan Customer, Over the past year many of you have had service interruptions in communities across Arizona. Some were brief. Others lasted much longer than they should have. Whether you work from home, run a business, or just count on staying connected to family, I know how disruptive that is. I'm sorry, and I want to explain what happened and what we're doing about it. Most of these outages have one cause: physical cuts to the backbone fiber that connects our network and others to the wider internet. Since last year our network has had eight different backbone fiber cuts, nearly all caused by outside construction crews working near our lines. Arizona is in the middle of a fiber construction boom. Much of it is driven by outside investment groups, many backed by private equity, racing to build their own networks as fast as they can with zero regard for the damage they cause existing providers. We believe new investment and competition can be good for Arizona. Too often, though, speed has won out over care. Crews have dug and bored without properly locating existing lines, damaging infrastructure that other providers and their customers depend on. Bluespan is not the only provider affected. Service across the industry is suffering. That explanation is not an excuse. You pay us to keep you connected, and it's our job to build a network that stays up even when someone else makes a mistake. We haven't met that standard consistently enough lately, and we are changing that. Redundant fiber paths. We have added multiple new diverse routes so that a single cut no longer takes an entire area offline, and more are underway. New microwave backhaul links. These high-capacity wireless connections between towers and to key sites give us a backup path that doesn't depend on buried fiber at all. When a line is cut, traffic can shift to these links and keep you online. Faster repairs. We are ramping up pre-positioned repair equipment so we can make repairs faster when cuts or weather-related events cause damage. Working with local leaders. I have been in contact with one of our Pima County Supervisors and other local officials about how this construction is permitted, located, and enforced. We are pushing for stronger line-locating requirements, real accountability when crews damage existing networks, and better coordination between new builders and the providers already serving your community. This chaos is hurting every existing provider, and it needs a fix that protects all Arizona customers, not just Bluespan's. Bluespan has served Arizona since 2001, and we are proud to be locally owned and operated. That means we don't get to point fingers and walk away. We live here too. If you have questions or are still having trouble, please call our local support team at 520-207-0549 or check live network status anytime at status.bluespan.com. Thank you for sticking with us. We are working hard to earn your trust every day. Sincerely, Scott Stace CEO, Bluespan --------- end copy and paste-----

If you are an internet user who needs very high reliability (such as for video and voice calls that do not drop or freeze) and expeditious repairs when the service does get wonky, then Mediacom is not for you. Every once in awhile (perhaps every few quarters) it seems that the internet goes from fast and reliable to unreliable. When it does become unreliable (such as when upload speeds go below 1mb for part of the day) Mediacom can waste catastrophic amounts of your time (days, weeks, months) calling on the phone, making you wait for an appointment to see if the problem is at your house, only after repeated issues admitting it might not be, and then still taking days or weeks or longer to go find the issue. Finally, in the latest iteration of this merry-go-round, I said "enough" and this week have paid far more money to a competing (microwave dish I guess) service offering far slower speeds, but perhaps better reliability and hopefully more immediate attention to service issues. I can't decide between 1 star and 2 stars. For much of the time over the years they have seemed ok, and have invested in higher speeds and have polite phone and in-person support, and all this would point to 3-5 stars. However, they have in the end not prioritized reliability nor expeditious repairs and in some ways 2 seems too generous. I guess I'll put it (for now) as an average.
