Terrible service takes on a new definition here! CenturyLink ranks as the top for THE WORST in so many categories and they are not even worthy of a 1-Star rating...so where shall I begin...how about with pitching lies about their service? Then let's move on to hidden fees, poor service, and wrap up with never responding to service calls.
1. CenturyLink "guaranteed 20 mbps at my location". They even sent an engineer out at my request to test the location because I wanted reassurance. The salesman Toby called back and said "yes, guaranteed 20 mbps". WRONG...we get 3-4 mbps on average, pay for 6 mbps, and "there's nothing they can do about it" DO NOT LISTEN TO THEIR LIES!
2. Hidden Fees...now this is one for the FCC...during the "sales pitch" I repeatedly asked how much my monthly bill would be, how much is the cost, and I never got an answer. The salesman quickly changed the topic and told me about bundles and gift cards. My first bill for 5 weeks of service on the Small Business account which has unlimited data was almost $500! How is this possible!! Well the installation fees that they said they were going to waive were $200, then of course you have to pay a month in advance (like we'll ever see that month-in-advance returned), and of course the pro-rate of one week, but how come they could not explain any of this to me and why did I have to call 2 times to finally get the waived installation they promised credited back (and oh, they only did a partial credit)
3. Poor Service & Poor Customer Service...oh yes, very very bad...people in Somalia have better Internet! The connection continually drops all day long and anyone calling from a cell phone to our CenturyLink phone gets an echo. I have repeatedly called for repairs, but nothing has been done to fix the issue. In fact, the last time I called, no one ever came out or called to resolve the issue, and they closed the ticket without repair or follow-up. I had to open another ticket, but I am not hopeful that the issue will be resolved.
4. Service Call Response... as noted above, no one ever showed up for the last open ticket. Previously the tech couldn't do anything because the issue was in the line and not at the location.
So why then do I have CenturyLink...monopoly. There are no other Internet Service Providers in this area. We are stuck! No competition means that they can afford to offer crappy service, at high prices, and not respond to issues.
