NOPE, NOPE, AND NOPE! I live in Ocala fl and have used CenturyLink for several years now. CenturyLink which have rebranded (Optimum) to distance themselves from the horrible reviews that they are given. They are terrible. They have the worst customer service of the 2 "monopolies" that are offered in Ocala. Please make no mistake even though "monopolies" are not allowed, they still exist. When there are only a couple of options offered in your area, they are doing just that.
They have recently begun installing fiber optic in Ocala which I know we are all grateful for. That being said, let me share a story. CenturyLink is utilizing a third party for this installation, which isn't a big deal except there is less accountability when this occurs. They came out to our gated community last Friday (with zero issues) but didn't complete their installation so returned on Tuesday to complete it. The crew cut a line to both Cox and CenturyLink customers in the neighborhood. They either didn't notice or didn't care. When we reported it to CenturyLink they had zero customers listed as an "outage." We set up an appointment to have it serviced the following day (today) and CenturyLink wanted to charge $99 for the tech to come out IF the issue was on our end. I already KNEW that it was a result of their digging up everyone's yards. CenturyLink called this morning to let us know that their competitor (Cox) had to notify them that a line was cut as they were notified by Cox customers in the neighborhood on Tuesday. How embarrassing! Cox came out this morning (immediately) and restored service to their customers but CenturyLink says they don't know when service will be restored to its customers even though it was their "mistake."
My daughter works from home and does not get paid when she can't utilize the internet. I don't know if there are others in the neighborhood that have a similar issue. That being said, it is NOT acceptable to play with people's money especially in our current economy. Our federal government is doing the same thing so it's become common place. I am NO longer accepting sub par or "kick the can down the road" mentality. It's all of our responsibility to hold those "in power" accountable when they attempt to treat us "less" than. We ALL deserve better. It's time to know it and believe it! I personally am starting to cut ties with all corporations that I know don't treat their customers well and or their employees. Generally speaking if they aren't treating their customers well, trust me they aren't treating their employees any better. I was in HR Management for 18 years and witnessed it firsthand. I am no longer condoning and or enabling their bad behaviors, I know I deserve better and am going to get it. They don't need OR deserve your money if they can't be accountable. It's going to take all of us demanding better for ourselves if we want to eradicate this mentality/behaviors. May peace be with us all. read more
