We immediately fell in love with this house, and we wanted to get things moving fairly quickly. That is where we turned things to Sam Melkonian from the Boston Mortgage Solutions. Sam was Fantastic from A to Z - very professional, subject matter expert in his field, personable, extremely consultative, friendly, and very dedicated. I do not think my wife and I had similar experiences in the past. We were shocked how easy it was to go through this process. Sam, our Mortgage Broker, did his magic with the mortgage process and got us a very competitive rate. The experience and execution were flawless. He made sure throughout the process that we understand all the details behind the process. Sam kept us constantly informed and was open for any of our inquiries and addressed all our needs. I think he is the most positive person I have ever met. My family is in the great place, thanks for the professionals who made it possible! Once again, we were very pleased with our experience. Thank you, Sam!!! It is great to work with professionals that make your busy lives easier.

We even scheduled apartment tours for that same evening. The entire process between me reaching out and then signing the lease took about a week, and was much more efficient and less stressful than I anticipated, especially during a pandemic. Brandyn was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the process and made sure to keep me in the loop. Four months later I was able to move in after a smooth and overall great experience with KR Boston!

I am a super busy running my business and having them in my corner has been a huge help. Owning and managing rental properties is often like another part-time job, but since I hired Penrose everything has been on autopilot. I used them for a few years to find tenants for my properties with great success, however, when I started to use them for purchases and management that's when they really stood out from the pack. While I've dabbled in real estate and know the basics I've grown so much as an investor since hiring them. They walked me through the numbers of several prospective properties. When I decided on one they walked me through the sale. Next they offered me several budget friendly recommendations on how to maximize my rental income. When the repairs were done, they found a another great tenant and have dealt with any of the annoying things that come with being a landlord. There are plenty of good realtors out there, but if you're looking to take your real estate investments to the next level give them a call.

He makes client satisfaction his top priority. I've worked with other members of the Penrose team as well and they did not disappoint. Their professionalism is second to none. I strongly recommend this firm for any real estate needs.

Taryn King was our primary contact, and she was super helpful--even driving out to our current apartment in Cambridge to pick up a cashier's check from us (that the property management company required) and later returning to hand-deliver (again, to our apartment!) a copy of our lease (once the prop. management company checked out our credit etc. [a huge hassle, but not Boston Z's fault] and signed it). They charge the (I think standard) broker's fee (1 mo.), but provide above-average service and follow-through.

Dillon seems very knowledgeable, experienced, and genuine. Amber was honest, professional, kind, and gave us a really solid viewing considering our time frame. While my experience with their agency was overall favorable - there was one part that we wished was improved. (Know that we gave them a very short time frame and this is my first time renting an apartment so I probably had some communication errors/mistakes on my end too) I would have liked to receive up to date listing searches every day. The market moves so so fast and in order to get a good place you really have to snag it while its fresh. We sent back our top selections from a list sent to us a day or two prior and we didn't get to see our favorite ones because they were already gone when it came time for viewings. It would have been nice to have had the updated searches, or to have been sent some newer good options in lieu of the ones that we had missed out on. We ended up renting with another agency. Me and my partner stayed diligent about vetting new apartments as they popped up on our apps, and while it was hard to let down Amber and Dillon after they took the time to take us out for viewings, we are happy and very fortunate that we did because we were able to get an amazing apartment that was fresh 16 hours on the market over the weekend. Long story short - These are very good, knowledgeable, and professional people doing very good work, but in this case it didn't work out. My best piece of advice for succeeding in this market is that if you want to get a really good place you have to check your apps every day and then be able to meet the agent on a whim mere hours after it has been posted.

I was told by one of their agents, that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my application and that the apartment was mine. Approximately three days later I found out through my realtor that somehow Ford had leased the apartment to someone else after I had already put down money and took the place off the market. Confused, I spoke with a Ford agent, who told me that someone had put down a deposit at the exact time as me. I immediately knew this was a complete lie, as I was sitting in their office alone, when I submitted my check and application. When confronted with this fact, the agent simply shrugged, and then told me well they offered to move in 15 days earlier. I was never informed this was an option, so I immediately countered with, well I can do that as well. They replied with, "no, we already signed the lease." I then found out that the new tenant was their client, hence they got full commission. With me, since I used another realtor, they would have had to split the commission with my agent. This situation left a bad taste in my mouth, as I have never experienced such shady business for a company that pretends to be "high end." As a working professional who has been renting in the Boston area for nearly a decade, I was appalled.

So Ford Realty hooked us up with a last-minute place, alright -- it worked out ok-ish though we've had real problems with the maintenance on our place and we aren't staying a second year so.... I have a problem with the fact that our realtor didn't shoot straight with us and I think took advantage of our ignorance of local custom and laws. Told us the place was great, landlord attentive (spoiler alert: Was. Not.) And when we asked about parking, "Sure! There's parking a-plenty, all the on-street parking* one might want!" Except, Parking* in Brookline = only during the day; parking is illegal at night meaning if you don't have a driveway you have to rent space in a private lot for ~$200/mo. The decent thing to do would not have been to just flat gull us on that one fine point. We would have looked elsewhere if we knew how coo-coo bird-brain awful the parking situation in Brookline is. You're pretty much stuck with a realtor if you want to get anything nailed down for rentals in Boston, and these guys I guess seem to be in charge of the crummier places in Brookline. I'm sure there are probably worse out there. But be warned: They work for shady people, and they themselves aren't high in the running for most-decent-folks-of-the-year.
