OK, I walk in on a Thursday after noon sometime and supposedly all of the doctors are "Out of the office" OK, but I can return the next day and I do. Quick to see a doctor and my share of cost is awesome! I get a perception of antibiotic and lumps goes down. I cancel other tests and everything seems fine. January hits and my new work insurance starts- NOT ONE DOCTOR can see me anywhere on the day I walk in. Lump returned. I was beside myself that this place doesn't have a contract with Aetna. I made an appointment somewhere else but things are dragging out and I can't help but wonder why I waste my money on insurance which at this moment seems like a waste. I got treated faster and cheaper showing how little I make here! If you know someone that thinks they cannot afford to see a doctor, I highly recommend bringing them here with their last two paycheck stubs. We needed to change rooms 3x's. Twice during our time in the exam room providers came in expecting a different patient. Standard forms were provided at the beginning of the visit, and we were told it world take 3-5 business days, and then subsequently told we needed to schedule a ZOOM meeting to fill out papers. To make things harder: The paperwork we needed filled out by the provider was handed back to me in the stack of AVS (instead of kept) which required me and my kiddo to return since they can't accept and email/fax of the required papers. No apologies ever given- instead I was met with excuses like "there was a lot going on in the room". YES- there was. We were well into lunch/nap time, kiddo just got a vaccine and we had to change rooms multiple times. I'd like to claim that we had a more rough experience with all of that than the providers did. My kiddos medication was not ordered or listed on the AVS- despite discussing in office. Required follow up call. The "required" zoom call apparently isn't happening anymore since Dr. Chong just called and said they changed the appt to today and she "won't be in tomorrow" and I can pick up the papers. Zero respect for people's time or schedule. I know how to navigate the healthcare system, and I feel so badly for those who attend your clinic that don't. Please do better for my kiddos and your other patients.

I had just come from the gym and realized I didn't have a mask, so I politely asked security if I could get one. Robin G., a security guard with Blackstone Consultants, told me the masks were inside the emergency room. I understood having to empty my pockets, but I was surprised when he specifically asked whether I was carrying a knife. I explained that I wanted a mask because I was traveling to Europe soon and didn't want to get sick before my trip. He responded that I would probably get sick in Europe anyway and bring it back to the United States. I found that comment dismissive and unnecessary, especially in a medical setting. When I later approached him politely to ask why he had said that, I explained that I felt judged based on my appearance. I also told him about my traumatic ICU hospitalization during COVID, when I developed a blood clot and spent about a month in the hospital. I still take blood thinners, and wearing a mask in medical facilities is something I continue to do because of that experience. When I explained how shaken I was, he responded that he didn't know I was "so sensitive." That made the situation even more upsetting. I was not asking for special treatment. I was asking for a mask and basic respect. I understand that security protocols are necessary, but they should be applied consistently and professionally. I do want to recognize Josue, the supervisor who spoke with me. He listened respectfully, apologized for the experience, and treated me with the kindness and professionalism I would expect in a medical setting. I truly appreciate him. I hope Kaiser reviews this incident and ensures that patients are treated with dignity and respect. I still believe Kaiser is a great institution, but experiences like this should not be overlooked. When I do, however, I expect to have time and attention and follow up accordingly. I too work in the medical field and know that we have to be our own best advocate because Md's and their nurses are too busy. I'm told to email my doctor when I need advice. I sent 4 emails to two different doctors and the doctors NEVER saw my emails because the nurses intervened and never addressed my inquiries. I was asking for support on my bloodwork and asked for support to get kaiser to call me to get my cat scan scheduled. I couldn't get a return call or email. Not until I called directly and spoke to a kind gal who had heard similar complaints from others and she forwarded my request to my primary. This took two days shy of 3 (THREE) weeks. Unacceptable. I pay a lot for my coverage and my copays are also high. I expect and DESERVE better from my health provider. I am giving 3 stars because when I am in my appointments and have direct contact with nurses in PT or urgent care or pharmacy or even radiology..... the nurses are AWESOME. They make you feel like you matter. The doctors are tired of hearing our complaints and have apparently spoke to Kaiser Corp about it but ...NO ONE is doing anything about it. So, if you have a need... call, and call again and again. Get what you deserve especially when you pay a lot for it. This is our HEALTH and we shouldn't have to fight for help, but, keep up the hard work and do NOT WAIT for someone who isn't going to follow up. Keep calling and fight. It sucks but, just do it. If I find better health coverage this next year, I'm getting rid of Kaiser. I want a provider who can control their staff and the processes that affect their patients.
