My…read moreKiwanis club rents the upstairs lounge once a year to host the Buy Nothing Day Free Market in November for example. A pottery group rents the hall upstairs for their events. Helen is the wonderful woman who takes care of the building and she is wonderful. If she's unavailable or has to step out she'll leave contact information for someone more local to the hall in case you need anything. Helen is good at making sure that snow is cleared from walkways etc. as best as can be as quickly as possible given a major snowstorm. The hall is a little bit difficult to access if you're unfamiliar with it, but it has ample free parking, is close to transit and major roadways and is within walking distance of many facilities in the Old Strathcona area. I'm really fond of some of the more recent upgrades to the upstairs lounge: the improved lighting makes it much more of a wonderful area to host events, for example.

I was here attending/helping at an under 40 mixer event in the big room upstairs. It's got wooden floors and mirrors across one wall, so I think it must be used for exercise classes and things of that nature, too. I'm sure there's much more to explore in this big ol' building since it's HUGE. Gotta give props to its sweet location, plenty of parking, and the playground nearby. The perfect family-friendly place for this neighbourhood.

As a father I use the large kids play area that is on the main floor and somewhat segregated from…read morethe main library. There are computers and iPad and other games and activities that cater to different age groups. The two family bathrooms in this area are good because the main bathrooms can have some unsavoury characters in there sometimes. The plaza outside of kids area windows has been under construction resurfacing the square for a long time. It's directly south of the library and hopefully it will be available soon. There is a Second Cup coffee shop in entrance way lobby which is a nice option but there are other cafes downtown that have better coffee and food offerings in my opinion. The interactive screen in front lobby is always a hit for my kids. And there is a smaller screen that is behind the large main display. The new LRT line goes directly in front of the library which should be good for access. There are often houseless people in the area and often in front of the library entrance or inside the library. If you're bringing children, be vigilant and always aware of your surroundings especially outside of the library. Both my children got library memberships before they turned one and the EPL gives a free children's book upon sign up. You can look through their selection and choose the book.

I visited the 24 hour drop slot - and it hasn't moved. Sadly, the construction crews had blocked the accessible ramp - so there were only stairs to the ramp... although after hours, I'm not sure how many other folks would be visiting to return books. The photos look amazing, and all the amenities from "THE WALL" - an interactive GIANT touch screen, to the Makerspace, to Gamerspace, Outreach services to the PÎYÊSÎW WÂSKÂHIKAN (Thunderbird House) is their first dedicated Indigenous space that is built for ceremony and gatherings. Coming soon are the EPL Kitchen, Muttart Theatre and Second Cup Coffee Co. (thank goodness). I can't wait to see it all myself, but for now, I'll look through the glass and dream about lounging indoors again.

St. Albert Place is pretty awesome and houses soooooo much more than you could ever imagine! From…read morethe library to the business licensing department and the Heritage Museum, if it's city council/government related, you can probably find it here. I LOVE Love LOVE, did I mention that I LOVE that fact that this is the centre hub for the outdoor summer farmer's market?!? Indoor washrooms, clean, cool, air conditioned AND the kiddos and you can even take a break in the library if you need to rest your feet for a bit and cool off before venturing back out to Western Canada's largest outdoor farmer's market! My kiddos love the piano they put outside in the summer to play and the creative bronze statues in the front. Of course, don't forget the Sturgeon River promenade on the North and West side of the building which connects to our trails. And let's not forget the Arden theatre which is also housed here! Parking can be challenging at times but that pretty much goes the same in any city and face it, we are lucky in St. Albert that we don't have to pay to park "downtown." My family is probably in this building at least once a week if not more in the summer and we've never had an issue with cleanliness, seating, or ample washroom availability! When can you say that? We watched the 4D video in the visitors centre before and that got us in a political mood before checking it out. Unfortunately we just missed the official tour. We went in and there is a lot of security just for a peek around. Be prepared for bag scan and search like the airport. Inside everyone was very pleasant and offered information about the building. Of course it i very grand and left me more intrigued than before. I'll go back for the full tour next month, when my next visitor arrives :)

This is a lovely library branch with lots of natural light and a great program room with modern…read moretechnology. This branch really does serve the needs of the community. I was quite happy to visit this location recently for an event I was helping to host. The staff are very helpful and the building itself is of some really neat new construction. If I lived in the area, I would certainly visit again!

A huge improvement over the old branch and then the temporary branch that we had for quite a long…read moretime. The larger space, super tall ceilings and windows everywhere make for a light and airy environment. The first time I visited the staff greeted me and my husband and explained the new branch to us. The second time we were in they were about to launch into the same thing, but then recognized us and said "Oh you guys are already old pros." That was pretty cute and it's nice to be remembered. Whereas the staff at the temporary branch seemed to be rotating, the people here seem to be permanent. There are several computers on both levels. I like the area upstairs with a couple of low tables and chairs beside the window. Perfect for reading or doing some work on your laptop. The selection isn't the same as Milner or one of the bigger branches, but some of the sections are worth browsing through. I always reserve my books online and just pick them up at the branch, but I was recently able to just pick it up right off the shelf here. A very welcome addition to the neighbourhood!

I've not visited super often but it is a great location conveniently located adjacent to the public health clinic and near the shopping centre, which means that there is ample parking and lots of good transit options here as well.

This is the library of my childhood!…read more Every time I go in here I feel like I am taking a step into the past. The selection is really good here and the staff are super nice. The only thing that creeps me out about this location is the close proximity to the health clinic next door. I can almost smell the disinfectant in the library. Other than the "too-clean" smell, I really like this library. It doesn't have quite the historic feeling that the strathcona branch does, but it does have quite an extensive children's section and also some computers available for searching and even some comfortable chairs to sit in. If you get a chance to hit this library up, I would recommend it. It really is a nice location.

This isn't the most historical building you'll ever see and chances are unless you live in Leduc or…read moreare coming out this way it probably isn't worth coming out here just to see this. That said Leduc doesn't have much for historical icons or buildings, so to see this is pretty cool. The Stone Barn itself is just the outside stone and wood beams (I think a fire destroyed most of the original barn) so it's all open, but still quite pretty. There is an old farmhouse and milking barn along with walkways (it's right on the multiway), picnic tables and gardens. Stagework's is located here as well. This a nice little area and very popular for weddings (I think the wait time for reserving The Stone Barn is at a year). If you are here in the summer on weekend then expect to see a Wedding, if not it's usually pretty quiet unless Stagework's has something going. There is a parking lot here, but if the weather is nice or you are prepared then you can bike or walk along the multiway. For being a cool and historical landmark in Leduc I give this place 5 stars.

So happy to have this new library in my neighbourhood. I popped in yesterday to do some printing…read moreand was so pleasantly surprised with how busy it was. From outside it's a quirky building and inside it's really well laid out with computers, printers, makers space, of course books and a welcoming reception area. I nipped in to do some printing but can't wait to come back and spend some time here. The parking lot has plug ins which I thought was a nice touch. There is also plenty of street parking too.
