I've gone twice to get my hair dyed here, and call me a returning customer, I'll be back for more!…read moreFriendly reminder this is a school; there may be hiccups and slow service, but the prices are unbeatable. My natural hair color is a dark brown with some gray patches on top, so the services I've gotten are the all over color and root touchup with their darkest black dye. Both Yessie and Autry have done a fantastic job with this! They're both young learners, super friendly and relatable, who aim for the highest quality and experience. I left feeling confident and beautiful from having both of them do my hair.

What sets this place apart from any other hair styling place is their unwavering commitment to customer happiness and customer service. Upon receiving a haircut I didn't love, Lorraine reached out to me and invited me to the Champion's Barber and Beauty Academy, where she genuinely took the time to listen to my concerns and preferences and then went ABOVE and BEYOND to ensure that I left feeling completely satisfied. The owners, both Kevin and Lorraine, are truly amazing and some of the nicest people I have ever met. Not only that, but the level of expertise displayed by their students and everyone working at the salon blew me away! Just from my observation: everyone's desire to learn, attention to detail, and willingness to listen put a smile on my face. This type of care and dedication is truly the pinnacle of a great business, and I have no doubt that they know how to retain their clients. I felt like a valued client from start to finish. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough, or any of the Champion locations, for that matter. If you're in need of a haircut, a perm, or what have you: Champion's Barber and Beauty Academy is THE place to go to in Waco.

She did a great job of making neurotoxins easy to understand. I do appreciate her time when I actually received it. She was on her phone 65% of the time. Again I was 1 person. I literally had to wait for her to stop eating or talking to others to ask questions. I thought I paid for that time. ?? I think she has a lot to offer but it was very frustrating paying $2k for her to be on her phone the majority of the time. Just FYI class was posted for 10-6 class is 10:30 to? With lots of down time. I think she's great at what she does but I wouldn't take a class again purely Bc of the lack of respect. I do think she's an expert I also believe she is maybe burned out. I don't want this to be all bad. She was a great teacher with good intentions but I think the classes are a secondary or tertiary focus. If you want great training and can give all day to walking around and wondering when she'll notice you then Go! Following up I think she is an expert and doesn't realize what she's doing as far as time management goes the texting and talking on the phone every 5 minutes. So great review for nursing intelligence, experience, education. I am definitely disappointed in the time she spent on her phone and meal prepping for her fitness comp than what I thought I was paying for. I felt like an afterthought. I would have paid $500-1k more for her to put her damn phone down. Still she is great so I won't discount her work. I expected more from my experience.

I've been going to Salon Professional Academy for shampoos/haircuts/blowouts over the past 5 years…read moreor so. Students there provide many types of salon services beyond cutting and coloring hair, and the work is checked out by an instructor before you pay and leave. To be sure, over the years and depending on the student, the quality of work may vary... but this can happen at a regular salon as well. The student who most recently cut my hair is about to graduate (after about 7 months of training), and her overall skills are great. She's ready to be in a regular salon. If you have concerns about someone being new at their craft, you can always ask for a more experienced student like the one I had. The products used at this place are mostly Redken, but other quality products are available as well. If you're in the north Round Rock - Georgetown area and are looking for a relatively inexpensive service, give Salon Professional Academy a try.

I have to unfortunately update my review to 2 stars because my recent experience turned out…read morehorrible and I will not be returning. I am not going to name the individual who worked on me to be respectful to her, but I will say the girl who colored and styled my hair needs a lot more training before she is ready to really work on hair. I left with hair dye all over my forehead, my sideburns were soaked with dye and behind my neck by that wasn't the worst of it. I didn't notice how much dye was left in my hair until I got to my car and started running my fingers through my hair. But I was wondering how the hair stylist working on me didn't notice the dye all over my face? Also, my curls, if you can call them that - turned out horrible with tons of frizz on the top of my head, I absolutely hated the way my hair turned out, total waste of money and time. I walked out spending $125 on a single color process, deep conditioning, styling and a hair product - way too much if you ask me for how things turned out. I understand these people are in training and I get that. The prior hair stylist who worked on my hair at this salon did a great job, but she graduated and suggested this newer gal. I trusted the process, but the process didn't turn out well at all. I will say the new gal who worked on me was kind. I am sure she was trying to do her best, but when dealing with someone's hair the basics like being removing all the dye out of someone's hair so it doesn't stick to their face and remain gooey in their hair is imperative - I needed to really wash my hair when I got home, also knowing how to do basic curls in someone's hair should be fundamental - the gal who worked in me had no idea how to curl hair at all. For those wondering why I didn't say anything during my visit, when I looked in the mirror and saw what a mess my hair was, I just wanted to get out and leave and just never come back, which I won't. Then when I went to the register to get rung up it took forever as I was standing their waiting because they were training another lady how to use the register. I believe I realized while I appreciate the lower price point on service at the salon academy, and understand most of the people working their are in training, it's simply not worth it to me to work with people in training who don't really know what they are doing yet, with the risk of messing up my hair and then walking out unhappy. I would rather pay a higher premium working with an experienced stylist knowing I am walking out feeling good with nice hair. I will not be returning to the salon Acedemy in Georgetown.
