I use Groupon and/or go to cosmetology schools for hair services. It helps with my budget and gives…read morethe stylist hours needed for their certification. I have used: Vouge Baldwin Paul Mitchell Aveda I have had average to amazing services from each one. I tried a new one using Groupon called R & C Beauty School. The price of the Groupon was half of their regular fees which is higher than the above mentioned schools. The appearance of the school was clean and looked like a regular salon. I showed up and was greeted. One of the instructors showed me to a chair. We did our consultation and I showed her a picture of the color I would like to try. She explained that it wouldn't be possible, which made me feel good that she wasn't giving me false hope. She had 2 students start the color process. They were nice. They were communicating with each other and at one point went to ask the other instructor a question and he answered them. They were laughing as he was walking away. I thought it was a little rude because from what I could understand they were not being nice about the first instructor. The other issues I had were; one of the students dropped her comb that she was using reached down picked it up and continued to use it and the second was that when the student was starting to blow dry my hair she didn't use any heat protection before she began drying my hair. I understand that it isn't cheap to run a business. However, without Groupon the school would have been close or the same as some salons I've used. I am happy with my color, not the cut.

I have to unfortunately update my review to 2 stars because my recent experience turned out…read morehorrible and I will not be returning. I am not going to name the individual who worked on me to be respectful to her, but I will say the girl who colored and styled my hair needs a lot more training before she is ready to really work on hair. I left with hair dye all over my forehead, my sideburns were soaked with dye and behind my neck by that wasn't the worst of it. I didn't notice how much dye was left in my hair until I got to my car and started running my fingers through my hair. But I was wondering how the hair stylist working on me didn't notice the dye all over my face? Also, my curls, if you can call them that - turned out horrible with tons of frizz on the top of my head, I absolutely hated the way my hair turned out, total waste of money and time. I walked out spending $125 on a single color process, deep conditioning, styling and a hair product - way too much if you ask me for how things turned out. I understand these people are in training and I get that. The prior hair stylist who worked on my hair at this salon did a great job, but she graduated and suggested this newer gal. I trusted the process, but the process didn't turn out well at all. I will say the new gal who worked on me was kind. I am sure she was trying to do her best, but when dealing with someone's hair the basics like being removing all the dye out of someone's hair so it doesn't stick to their face and remain gooey in their hair is imperative - I needed to really wash my hair when I got home, also knowing how to do basic curls in someone's hair should be fundamental - the gal who worked in me had no idea how to curl hair at all. For those wondering why I didn't say anything during my visit, when I looked in the mirror and saw what a mess my hair was, I just wanted to get out and leave and just never come back, which I won't. Then when I went to the register to get rung up it took forever as I was standing their waiting because they were training another lady how to use the register. I believe I realized while I appreciate the lower price point on service at the salon academy, and understand most of the people working their are in training, it's simply not worth it to me to work with people in training who don't really know what they are doing yet, with the risk of messing up my hair and then walking out unhappy. I would rather pay a higher premium working with an experienced stylist knowing I am walking out feeling good with nice hair. I will not be returning to the salon Acedemy in Georgetown.

Came back here today to get a pedicure (by someone else - can't remember her name). It was awful. She literally told me she's into doing hair and not pedicures. Also said she lost her scrubber thing so didn't even use a foot file or anything on my feet?? That's the main thing I wanted when getting a pedicure. The water was barely even "warm". I had like 4 colors to choose from. And the polish was all over my skin ‍. She was a nice girl so I didn't complain to her about it but just kept thinking in the back of my head once the "educator" comes to check her work she will at least have her clean up the polish. But nope she said "looks good" and left. Oh, the girl who did my pedicure told me it was $15; I go to the counter to pay and this lady says it's $25? I still tipped her anyway.. so $30 wasted bc I had to go home and take the polish off and repaint myself. Would not recommend coming here for pedis.

The ambience awesome and we were promptly taken to a station upon arrival. We both just got haircuts. Yes, it does take longer than a normal salon, but for $15, I was impressed by them using high quality, delicious smelling products and the attention to detail. Instructor came over frequently to see how things were going. Both our cuts turned out great and our hair was styled as well! The only critical feedback is that I'd ask the stylist to not stand next to the guest during check-out. When the cashier asked about leaving a tip, it was a little weird to have the stylist right there, it makes you feel a bit pressured/uncomfortable. Overall a great experience and we will be back!

My hair is not difficult, since it is straight and fine, and I simply wanted my pixie cut neatened up. Each student consults with their teacher before starting the haircut, and the student proposes what they plan to do in the teacher either approves or amends the plan. My student did a great job for about 90% of the cut; unfortunately, the part that didn't come out that great was around my face. She kept cutting one side to make it look a certain way, which was also getting the cut to be shorter and shorter and shorter... I finally had to forcibly tell her to stop cutting! She then asked her instructor to come over, and I expected the instructor to notice that my hair was uneven, but she didn't. At this point, I had been in the chair over 90 minutes and just wanted to get out of there. I went home, grabbed my scissors, and evened out the haircut myself. I probably would not go back here, no matter the circumstance
