BUY RITE Garage Door Installation , Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more
If I could give BUY RITE zero stars, I absolutely would. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever dealt with.
In July 2024, we spent over $11,000 on two garage doors through Home Depot, with BUY RITE serving as the installation contractor. From the very first day, one of the garage doors had ongoing problems opening and closing properly.
For over a year, we repeatedly contacted Home Depot to report the same issue. Each time, we went through endless phone calls, delays, and frustration just to get someone to come out. A technician would make an adjustment, the door would work for a day or two, and then the exact same problem would return.
Despite having reported this issue since the original installation, we were eventually told that our warranty had expired. How can a warranty expire on a problem that was reported from day one and never properly resolved?
After escalating our complaints to higher management and having them review more than a year's worth of documented complaints, someone finally acknowledged the situation and arranged another service visit.
Today, BUY RITE sent a technician named Jim, and his behavior was completely unacceptable.
I specifically requested that the appointment take place after 2:00 PM so I could be home to discuss the recurring issue. Instead, Jem called me five minutes before 2:00 PM, announced that he was already there, claimed there was nothing wrong with the garage door, and said he was leaving.
I asked him to please wait while I contacted my husband or son to meet him. His response was that he didn't have time to wait.
When I finally arrived home and asked what the problem was, he told me he had already adjusted the door and that it was working.
I explained that this is exactly what has happened every single time someone has come out over the past year. The door works temporarily, then fails again. I suggested that perhaps the motor or another major component needed to be replaced rather than continuing to make temporary adjustments.
His response? He would not authorize a new motor, and he needed to leave.
When I asked to speak with his manager, he told me, "I don't have a manager."
I found Jem to be extremely rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and completely uninterested in understanding or permanently resolving the problem.
What makes this situation even more frustrating is the complete lack of accountability. When we contact Home Depot, they point the finger at the installation company. When we contact the installation company, they tell us to contact the manufacturer. Everyone passes responsibility to someone else, while the customer is left with an $11,000 purchase that has never functioned reliably.
After more than a year of complaints, repeated service visits, wasted time, and countless frustrating conversations, we still have no confidence that the issue has been properly fixed.
As of today, the garage door is working again after another adjustment. But based on our experience, the real question is: For how many days this time?
I am extremely disappointed in BUY RITE and the way this entire situation has been handled. Their service has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for the customer.
BUY RITE should be ashamed of how it treats customers who have spent thousands of dollars expecting a properly installed and functioning product.
I strongly recommend that anyone considering garage door installation through Home Depot find out exactly which contractor will be handling the job before spending their money.
Over $11,000 spent, more than a year of unresolved problems, and absolutely unacceptable customer service. BUY RITE has completely lost my trust.
