There is a tabletop gaming store that is as large as a grocery store. It exists! It's a true…read morewonderland for nerds and gamers, and noobies like me. None of the gamer stores we visited in Baltimore County can hold a candle to this place. Pay the toll and get your butt over to Ritchie Highway. You'll want to burst into tears of joy when you set foot into the store. I was under the impression that it was difficult to own/run a game store, or thats what the owners of those little shops would have me believe. But this place had loads of customers, and a bunch of other regulars in a side room used for gathering for in person play. Jeremy got his wish. A group of our friends are planning on getting together at least one Friday a month to play the Wheel of Time RPG. And he suckered me into joining. So he insisted that I pick out my own dice, rolling tray (the non-herbal kind), and a bag to hold the dice. He got some stickers and other stuff, too, cuz he's just so very into embracing the tabletop rpg gamer lifestyle. We joined the rewards program, so we'll obviously be back.

There is also an area to the right of the entrance where you can pay a $10 fee per person to play a large assortment of games they have in their board game room. I came in with a gift card, looking to purchase a new game for myself. I wasn't too sure what I wanted, so I asked an employee for some advice, and she was wonderful! She took the time to learn what types of games I enjoy playing and walked me through a few different recommendations, explaining how the gameplay worked for each of them. Everyone I interacted with at this store were such wonderful people. I'll definitely return in the future and bring along some friends to play in the game room!

Good store for board game and TCG enthusiasts…read more Gritty Goblin Games is a well maintained game store that's stocked with wall to wall games. There spacious and clean environment makes navigating and finding what you're looking for easy and the employee working at the time was both informative and patient with my questions. I noticed not only popular board games and pen and paper games, but some kickstater varieties for those looking for something interesting. If you are a trading card game player, GGG has almost every TCG under the sun, from Magic and Pokemon to and Flesh & Blood. They even carry rarer Japanese TCGs such as Digimon, Vanguard, Duel Masters, and One Piece. The one card game I couldn't find was Yugioh, so this store might not be for you if you're a Duelist. Be sure to call ahead to check availability. GGG has a massive playspace used for hosting D&D nights and TCG tournaments. They have a library of board games you can rent so you can play them before deciding to buy them. My biggest critique regarding GGG is the stuffy smell that fills most of the store. I'm not sure if it's bad air circulation or some carpet that's gotten moldy, but there is a pervasive stench that while not crippling, it does distract from the experience. It probably doesn't help that their gaming room is massive, but only has a single doorframe that allows any air to pass in and out of the room. Gritty Goblin Games has excellent gaming variety and helpful employees, but a bad smell (despite otherwise clean environment) prevents me from wanting to shop there for long.

They are conveniently located in downtown Newark and have ample street parking nearby. I'm always greeted warmly when I stop in and have received help and recommendations from the staff numerous times. I'm always impressed to see game shops these days that still focus a majority of their business on board games instead of Magic cards and figurines (although they do have both of those as well). They have a huge selection of games of all kinds that span 3 rooms within the shop. One of these rooms is dedicated for used game resale and it is always well stocked with great deals. While prices overall at the shop are average, you're going to find games that you can't find anywhere else - Japanese imports, out of prints, rare games, etc. I would highly recommend this shop to any board game enthusiast or anyone looking to add something other than Scrabble and Monopoly to their game night!

Smaller than my hometown LGS but has a lot more variety to make up for the smaller collection (especially with ttrpgs. I think I saw some gammaworld stuff in there). Theu also have d100s. We love d100s. Ghe staff theres also great. Ive had conversations with them about old school ttrpgs, magic the gathering, and war games. I also would like to thank the staff for helping somewhat with materials for the board game club. They helped provide both some payment to a local board game con, as well as some mtg booster packs for the mtg tournament we had last decemberish
