I had an amazing experience with Central Florist in Alameda! Bruce, was incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect. He took the time to listen to what I needed, offered great recommendations, and made the entire experience easy and stress free. It's refreshing to come across a local business owner who takes so much pride in his work and truly values his customers. The customer service was outstanding, and the flowers were beautiful. Thank you, Bruce, for going above and beyond. I highly recommend Central Florist to anyone looking for beautiful flowers and exceptional, personal service. I will definitely be coming back! read more

These guys filled my order via DoorDash 1-800-flowers. Quality is terrible. Arrangement arrived with some flowers wilted an old. Florist should always replace with something fresh as needed. Bouquet did not resemble the picture and while I'm not too surprised about that, I would at least expect something close and fresh. They did not supply a packet to put in the water to keep the buffet going. For $100 I am disgusted and will avoid this florist. read more

I can't say enough good things about Central Florist! I ordered a bouquet for my friend's 40th birthday, but unfortunately it was delivered while they were out for the day and had disappeared by the time they got home. I called Bruce, the owner, to let him know what happened, and without hesitation he created a brand new bouquet just a few hours later and had it delivered the very same day. That level of customer service is incredibly rare these days. The replacement arrangement was beautiful, and most importantly, it put a huge smile on my friend's face on their special day. Thank you, Bruce, for going above and beyond. I'll definitely be ordering from Central Florist again! read more

Alameda's 1-800 Flowers Central feels so welcoming because of Bruce. He's very helpful and kind. Always greets me with warmth and congeniality. His floral arrangements speak volume for themselves. There's not only beautiful floral arrangements but also, cool gifts and awesome cards. Great value to complete the perfect gift for a loved one. Flowers are valuable to me. They can be expensive but if all is considered like their emissions footprint, the time it takes to arrange and set up, and the cost of purchasing them: totally worth every penny. I'm a loyal customer because the owner is so sweet. Bruce, thank you so much for being so thoughtful and a joy to see every time I stop by. Cheers to you and yours! read more

As always, Bruce came through with my request for a birthday bouquet. I walked in two days before Mother's Day, in the middle of their preparation for the big day, and he was able to arrange a bouquet while I waited. The result was one of the most beautiful bouquets I have ever bought. Thanks again, Bruce! Great service, as always. read more

I went in for a corsage. Beautiful, easy, great service. Thank you! I will definitely be back.

I communicated with Bruce via text about the type of Mother's Day bouquet I wanted for my daughter-in-law. Using only a few descriptive words (I live on the East Coast), Bruce delivered exactly what I had envisioned! An artful floral arrangement with a broad selection of gorgeous flowers! It was well worth the cost. Thank you, Bruce, for your exceptionally responsive service! read more

1800FLOWERS provided them with the proper description on the order, which was for a pink orchid corsage. They sent a purple corsage and the petals were already turning brown on the edges. Then they were rude on the phone and referred me to 1800FLOWERS. You cant hide behind 1800FLOWERS when its your fault! Run, don't walk, to another florist. read more

We received a sympathy arrangement via 800flowers but it was made by Central Florist. Back in November we also received a sympathy bouquet (we lost 2 parents). Both arrangements were bountiful with fresh flowers. The colors subtle and appropriate. Job well done - twice. Delivery drivers also very friendly. An added plus. read more

Great customer service and able to get my delivery out quickly (and right before a holiday!) The nice man I spoke to sold me on the larger poinsettia for my sister. He said it was beautiful and it was (but definitely bigger than I imagined). My sister said it looked like a tree. Lol! My motto: go big or go home. Better big than small, so I'm happy! read more

I have used Central Florist several times now, and I have been very pleased with this business. In two cases I needed service in a very short timeframe, and both times I was accommodated without hesitation - once with a bouquet and the other time with a plant. Both items were exceptionally healthy and very reasonable. Although these were delivered, I have been in their shop on Central, and they have a beautiful and diverse selection of bouquets snd plants. read more

Today I received a gorgeous bouquet from Central Florist/1800 flowers, sent by Alex, Larry's older son, and his fiancée, Alina. Alex was very fond of Alan. We had known Alex and his brother Nick since our trip to France w/ Nina and Larry in 2004. I had met Alina two Thanksgivings ago and liked her a lot, so the connections here go deep. I was very touched by their thoughtfulness in sending the flowers. I was very impressed w/ the freshness, beauty and grace of the arrangement by Central Florist. read more

So disappointing. Ordered a Christmas arrangement for a holiday party someone in my family was having. What I ordered is on the left and what arrived is on the right. Clearly nothing like what was advertised. They could have told me they didn't have the flowers advertised, or the gold bowl, or that they would not be delivering the largest of three size choices I ordered. it is a decent arrangement, but sure nothing like what I understood I had purchased, or paid for. ** Update - to his credit, the owner called me today to offer a discount due to my dissatisfaction. Unfortunately the money is not the point, so I declined. He said the arrangement will look closer to the advertised picture in a day or two - but again, the event was yesterday, so that fact is pointless. I guess the lesson here is that the florist should tell you it will take a couple of days to look like the image you are using to base your purchase decision. And by the way, the delivery was actually delayed a day because no one came to the door to receive it the day before. I can't imagine how bad it looked a day earlier if now I am being told it might look right by tomorrow. Central Florist has a great reputation and has served Alameda for a great many years. However because of this poor experience, I won't do business there again. read more

I received a floral bouquet for my birthday from my in-laws who live out of state. Half of the arrangement were some sad looking daisies while the other half were carnations. There were 3 roses on one side but one of them was broken at the bud. Much of the filler greenery was already dying. Besides the sad state of the whole bouquet, it had to have been one of the most unimaginative, outdated arrangements I've ever seen. So bummed my in-laws spent their money on this. read more

It's never easy to say goodbye to family, especially a mom. We are incredibly grateful for Bruce's heartfelt condolences, which were extended to me from the start of our work together. His kindness and professionalism were immediately apparent. The prayer card we shared with him served as inspiration for the floral arrangements. The sprays and casket flowers beautifully captured its essence. Knowing my mom's own green thumb, I am certain she would have adored the stunning displays that Bruce created. We are absolutely grateful. Thank you, Bruce! read more

This flower buisness is amazing. You get flowers in about 10-15 minutes which is very fair and the bouquets are beautiful. I received the most beautiful set of flowers arranged by Central Florist that was ordered by an out-of-state friend! I love flowers, so I send and receive lots of them. The variety, color, quality, and freshness of the flowers are absolutely the best and spectacular. I am glad that now I've discovered Central Florist for my flower needs and to send flowers to friends and family. I had looked at a couple of other Alameda florists, and conversing with a few, I decided to go with Central bc they were able to answer my questions truthfully. I ordered a birthday bouquet best friend which included protea and bougainvillea her favorite flowers. No problem for Bruce at Central. I gave him a general amount of blooms I wished in the bouquet and he set to work. On the date of her birthday, he sent me photos of the delivery card as well as the bouquet. I was able to add more blossoms to the already beautiful arrangement. He followed my desires to the letter, finished and sent a picture of the completed bouquet which I signed off on for delivery. Within 2 hours they had delivered the bouquet to my friend and her response to it was total amazement at the size and beauty of the flowers. She absolutely loved the arrangement. Bruce is a master at creating works of arts with flowers. I never would have been able to invision the completed product such as he had done. read more

3/10/25 PostScript: The vendor reached out to me to try and make this right with a discount. I do appreciate this, but what I prefer is that they do better going forward. You can't have a redo of a special event. Thank you for contacting me I did appreciate that. I made the appropriate adjustment to your rating. ============================================= I picked this florist because it was recommended and it was close to where they were going to be delivered. I ordered a Delux arrangement of flowers, when we went to pick up the flowers they pointed to the counter and said there they are. No box, to carry them nothing. If I was driving the water would have spilled for sure and they would have been rolling around in the vase. Second I ordered a delux version of the flowers and what I got though pretty seems to me to be the standard version. What did I pay extra for because it certainly did not look what was the pictured on their website. I was pretty disappointed all around. I would have definitely said something if I had been the one to pick these up. I don't think I'll be using this florist again. read more

I literally just called to see if they're planning on delivering the flowers that I ordered for my Mom's birthday. The guy who answered was short - I get that its the pandemic - but really? I asked if the flowers were delivered already, I didn't want to ruin the surprise since it is for my Mom's birthday. He said it'll be delivered at 4 pm. REALLY? Most flower deliveries arrive early - what if it was in an office building? Then the guy on the phone had the audacity to respond by saying "Really? You think that's late? We're open until 7pm. Did you request for it to be delivered early?" 1) I didn't think that it'll be delivered THAT late. And yes, it's a birthday gift. I was hoping it'll arrive early in the day, like most other flower deliveries. 2) NEVER AGAIN. I'm from Alameda - I wanted to support local. However, if you're going to be that much of sarcastic arse - no thank you. For other Yelpers reading this - be warned. NOTIFY when you want it delivered. BE SPECIFIC or just simply go to another florist which I will be doing moving forward. I can't wait to see this arrangement. read more

So, my Father recently passed away and I had to come from Atlanta to Cali for the funeral. Mom and I were running all over the place trying to find a florist that could create something nice for the casket at the last minute! The funeral would b the next day! I was pleasantly surprised more than once here at Central Florist, 1st the warm regards from the owner when I expressed my loss, then his willingness to help me find something that fit our budget and the flowers were beautiful and fresh and outshined the other flowers that had been ordered a week in advance from somewhere else! I was so happy with the arrangement I called the owner to tell him how great it was when I got back to Georgia!
