I have a Samsung 67" DLP TV. I developed an issue that was a wide spread problem but one that Samsung refused to fix out of warranty. I called Central Electronics on December 21, 2011 at 9:45am with my issue. By 10:30am they were at my house and at 10:45am we had agreed on a price and the TV was heading to their shop. By 6:30pm that same night my TV was back at my house, upgraded and working better than the original. I never asked for the repair to be rushed, they just got it done and did a number of tweaks, like upgrading my circuit board from a 1080i to a 1080p. I couldn't be happier. Repairs are never fun but this one was as pleasurable as it could get. After all was said and done I feel like I got a new and better TV. Very nice job, thank you. read more

They had it for about a month, and that's ok because they care enough about their work to troubleshoot the parts they order so as to not give me a substandard repair. Our 55 inch samsung took forever to turn on... Kept clicking and would take several minutes before the picture would appear. I went on line to call geek squad and ran across yelp reviews of central electronic that made me call them instead. I called central electronics at 7pm. Got a call back at 8pm from Sam who said he could be at my house the following evening. Sam arrived right on time and was so courteous, friendly, and respectable . I had two toddlers running around and my three and a half year old wouldn't stop talking to him. He was super friendly with my kids while he was working on my tv... He repaired our tv , had brought the parts he thought he might need with him at his visit!! This way, he didn't have to make a second trip!!( which means I didn't have to stay home and wait for another service call). He even called back a couple of days later to make sure our tv was still working properly. He had to replace the back control panel... The part was about $180 and the service labor and call was $200. So it came out to a little less that $400. I didn't shop and compare pricing for service so I'm not sure if the pricing is good and can't comment on that. But their service is superior. read more

I was so impressed with their professionalism, honesty and knowledge. Sam did wonders to fix my Pioneer Elite 61 inch Plasma TV. Every other company I called would not even come and look at the TV unless I took it off the wall. That was an impossible job since it is over 200lbs and I couldn't do it alone, but they helped me take it off the wall, repaired it and re-installed it! This husband/wife team were friendly, helpful, and fast! I brought my 47" Samsung in to them on Friday at 11:30. They called me on Saturday at 3 to tell me the problem and the cost. He delivered the TV fixed and ready to go on Sunday at 3. It was worth the small delivery fee because I have 60 stairs to my front door and it needed to be mounted on the arm. My Sony TV died yesterday-right in the middle of the Stanford Game. I went on line and found that there was a Sony Repair shop close to my home in Lake Forest-Central Electronics. I called them and they walked me thru what was wrong with my TV-It needed a new projection lamp. They checked-they had the replacement part-and then they said" We have it and you can replace it yourself! What repair shop would tell you that! I asked how long they would be open( now about 4 PM) and they said they were closing...but would wait for me! I drove over-they showed me a set like mine and where the bulb went so I would know-I got home-installed the bulb in about 6 minutes and my TV is good as new. Took my Samsung lcd tv there --- tv would turn on, but right side of the panel wouldn't display properly. Service here was very courteous, fast and knowledgeable. Dropped it off Thursday, and got a call back the next day from Ramon with a diagnosis. Unfortunately the LCD panel needed to be replaced, but they were honest about it and gave me a discounted price. They recommended calling Samsung, which I did, and unfortunately, Samsung would not budge and help out with the needed part. Spoke to Sam, who was kind enough to take my TV for parts, refunding my diagnostic fee in exchange. If I have any TV needs in the future, I am definitely going here, and I highly recommend them! You'll never feel good when your less than 2 year old 55" TV suddenly goes dead for no reason. It was further disappointing to learn that even when these guys (who were referred by Reel Time who sold and installed my system) come, they are only coming to pick up the TV and take it to the shop. They got to me within a day with an estimate but the part took several days to arrive- no TV. After the power panel was replaced, they discovered the main board also needed to be replaced. Got a call the same day, part arrived next day and TV was returned that evening. I'd say I had a very good experience with these guys and would use them again and refer them. They know their stuff and they communicate and are accessible for questions. Although my manufacturer warranty ended after 1 year, my credit card doubled it and Sammy was very helpful getting the documentation to file the claim I just learned they covered the full cost so his prices must be fair too. It wasn't fun but these guys made it as painless as possible. Next time I am buying an extended warranty but I am happy I worked with these guys, fair, honest and helpful throughout. read more

We had an old plasma TV which was showing signs of problems via our cable system. Instead of just taking our TV away for a couple weeks, they gave us the ability to rent a loaner TV. When they came to pick up our very heavy TV it was only Sam which meant I had to help get it down and out to the truck. On the other end he brought Mario which made it much smoother. It wasn't cheap but the costs made sense and hopefully give us several more years of a good HDTV set. I noticed their website seems to be down but I'd give them a recommendation. read more

I called Central electronics in spite of their poor reviews and I wish I never did. I was told as I live in Seal Beach, I had to pay an extra $180 fee for travel. As they were the only company that claimed to work on home theater projectors I agreed. Mario showed up, told me he needed to take my $2500 Sony projector along with my new $400 bulb to the shop to take system apart to trouble shoot it. I waited a few weeks, called Mario and he said the mother board was cracked and he was trying to locate a mother board, as this part is not easy to obtain. 6 months past and I called and was told he still couldn't find a mother board, but he was going to see if he could find a used one on line, another 2 months past and I called to ask for my projector to be returned,Mario told me he had to put the projector back together for me to pick up and he would call when I could pick it up. He never called. Today, I called and demanded the return of my $2500 projector and my $400 bulb. Mario tells me now he can't find my projector and that they are only responsible for items left within 6 months. I disagree as they kept me on the hook and stole $180 from me. I feel I have been robbed and plan to file a police report and have my attorney send a formal demand for my equipment or the replacement value of $2900 + $180. read more

Five years ago or more I bought a really wonderful Sony SXRD TV that was huge. I had finally stepped up from a 25 inch into a HD, flat screen, and I was in heaven. Even my wife who is not an electronics fan loved it. We redesigned our family room to show case it in a multiple wall bookcase and fireplace combination. We had no trouble with it until the projection bulb went out. We called Howards (from whom we'd bought the TV) and they gave us some referral, one of which was Sam at Central Electronics. He came out that same day (within a few hours of my call to his shop) and replaced the burned out projection bulb, so my wife and I didn't even miss that evenings programming. Just recentlly the coloration on the screen moved to a yellow green tint, once again Sam came out within a couple of hours to fix it. This time however it was a big deal, the video picture engine (I'm sure it has another more technical name) was worn out and breaking down. It was going to cost over a $1000 to replace. On his own initiative Sam went to Sony to explain our love for the TV and that we had built the whole room around it. They gave us a great incentive to stay Sony customers, beyond what I could have imagined, let alone expected. Sam has followed up with us almost daily (yes, you heard that right, he calls us) to make sure we understand what is going to happen and to help us make decisions regarding our TV. In this day of automated phone answering, "press 1 for english" while hoping for a real human to speak with, systems; calling Sam has been a blessing. Sam never promises more than he can deliver, but can deliver more than he promises; and all for a competitive price, with an estimate in advance-once he knows what's wrong of course. While we all hope we will never have anything go wrong with our TV and sound systems, when the problems do arrive, Sam and Central Electronics is exactly the caring concern you want on your team. read more

I was very impressed with the service that we received. Woke up one morning and our Sony TV no longer had a picture. We called Central Electronics, and gave him the code that our TV was blinking. He came to our house fourth of July morning and took our main board with him. A week later he was back at our house with the fixed board and our TV is working just like new. I have used Cental Electronics (Sam and Heidi) twice now for T.V. repairs and I've been happy both times. The service is excellent, starting with Heidi when you call in to Sam who them calls back to discuss your T.V. issue and schedule the appointment to come out. This last time ( 8/2012) Sam came out to take care of my repair on a Sunday! The repairs have been sucessful and their prices very good. If you have a good but large older T.V. that you would like to replace, but just don't have the $ at this time for a new modern T.V., call Central Electronics. I had an expensive Panasonic 32" T.V repaired that was 12 years old. That was over 2 years ago now and Sam said it would probably last another 5-7 years at the time of the repair. Still going strong!!! In an age where discarding old electronics and just buying new, think about repairing those "good old T.V's" that were meant to last a lot longer than the new ones of today. I went to Sams office with a bad hdmi connector. He said it possibly could be repaired. I asked him what was the success rate. It was 80% if not it would require a mother board for my Samsung TV and he would apply the cost of the work on the hdmi connector. It turned out the connector could be resoldered. I felt this is a very honest service organization, He could have snowed me and I would have to have paid for mother board. I did not tell him that I was a retired electronics systems engineer and repaired TV myself. read more

Our 2 year old Panasonic was not turning on so we decided to call a local tv repair shop. Friday afternoon Ramon came to our house and unmounted our tv from the wall. He checked it and said that it could be one of 2 things either the main board (which the part alone is $700) or another part which is about $400. He said he wanted to take it back to the shop and call Panasonic directly to see if he could get the part cheaper or if it might be something else. However since it was Friday he probably wouldn't be able to talk to them until Monday since they were on the east coast. Monday he called and said that he was able to get the part a little cheaper but that it was going to be $836 to fix tv!!! What!? For $1000 I can buy a brand new tv! So then my husband called Ramon to ask him if when he came to bring back the tv, he could rehang our new tv? He then told him that it would be $45 to bring our tv back. We live maybe 2 miles from the shop and they were going to charge us to bring it back? What??!!! That was never mentioned when he took it that there was a fee to bring it back. And he told my husband that it would be $125 to hang a tv!!! I would assume that if you take it down you should put it back the way that you found it. We are talking about putting 4 screws in and rehanging it. I could understand if they totally had to hang a tv for the first time and charging $125, but not literally putting 4 screws in and hanging. read more

Update on my repair - about 30 days after repair (just before Memorial Day), the video started to flicker, so I called Central Electronics to let them know about the issue. I brought the TV back in, and a few days later, Sam called me to tell me that he believed that the problem was something called an LVDS cable. After several months of back-and-forth, Sam advised me that he had been unable to locate the LVDS cable, although he reported that all other inputs appear to be functioning. The LVDS cable could not be obtained since the manufacturer of my TV was no longer in business. Throughout the process, Sam offered to bring the TV back to me so that I could use the TV (using component cables), and until he was able to locate a supplier that carried the LVDS cable. However, after nearly 3 months, he concluded that the LVDS cable simply could not be purchased. After we concluded that the TV could not be further repaired, Sam wanted me to be as satisfied a client as possible; unfortunately, Sam and I had a misunderstanding regarding his proposed solution. Sam advised me that he'd issue me a $150 credit and he proposed providing me with a 40" LCD that he had repaired. Unfortunately, I understood that to mean that he'd give me $150 AND a free replacement TV. Only when I arrived at his store did I learn that we had misunderstood each other, since Sam meant that he'd give me $150 in credit towards the purchase of a TV. On the day I came into his store, I spoke with his wife, who instead agreed to refund me $150 for my troubles, and offered to let me take my TV back. Unfortunately, she did not confirm this agreement with Sam, whose intention was to refund me $150 in exchange for my TV (which he wanted to salvage for parts). At the end of the day, we agreed that he could keep the TV and that I could keep the $150 refund I'm lowering my 4-star review to 3-stars because (1) Central Electronics had my TV for nearly 3 months and could not repair it, and (2) it is not clear to me whether the original problem with my video actually stemmed from a board on the TV (which cost several hundred dollars) or the LVDS cable (a $40 part). I would hate to think that I was charged several hundred dollars when the repair should have cost less than $100. Also, for the amount of time that Central has had my TV, I might have been better off just buying a new TV. read more

Hands down the best customer service I have ever received anywhere. My husband and I woke up on a Saturday morning to a television that had blown a lamp (the third in 5 years). We live in the Temecula area and had called the ONLY service out this way to find out that the lamp we needed was out of stock, on back order and would have to be ordered on Monday morning. So we decided to look for a place close to the soccer fields that our duaghter was scheduled to play at that weekend...thank goodness we were led to Central. Not only did they have PLENTY of lamps, but were caring enough to ask questions, answer our concerns and let us know that three lamps in 5 years in unusual and could be a sign of an underlying problem. Sam and his wife Heidi are wonderful and offered to come in on a SUNDAY (we had a game on Sunday as well) if we brought our television in and would repair it. Long story short, we needed a new ballast which was overcharging our lamps for years and exploding them. Sam fixed everything up in a couple of hours and invited us into the shop so he could show us many features of the television that we knew nothing about. I now understand what we paid $3,000 for a few years ago. Our "new" television is working great and we are forever grateful to Sam and Heidi for caring enough to guide us to an appropriate repair. Truly, there is nothing that could have been handled better. Our Sony 60 in. tv went black and the dreaded lamp light turned red. Sam was at my home a couple of hours later with the lamp. Unfortunately, a couple of other parts had melted from the lamp problem. He left our house and drove to Oceanside to get the part needed and was back in my family room with the part. Did I mention that he did all of this on a Friday afternoon with rush hour traffic. I was expecting him to charge a fortune, and I wouldn't have blamed him. My 5 yr old Samsung LCD just had the extended warranty (I paid for) run out... and of course it started making loud clicking noises and wouldn't turn on. After checking the internet I found that this is a common problem with them (capacitor/power board). I checked around and found Central Electronics. They had a good yelp review, so called them. They were out to my house 4 hours later, found the problem and had me call Samsung. It took 5-10 minutes with Samsung, but they agreed to pay for everything. Mario was neat, clean, and tidy. ... There were power surges in Mission Viejo last week and my television -- which wasn't plugged into a surge protector -- started making funny popping noises. I called Central Electronics, and Sam was out to my house within a day. He immediately diagnosed the problem (fried mother board) and took the TV back to the shop for repair. A few days later, on the day he had promised, the TV was delivered back and set up. No more popping noises. Sam was personable and did exactly what he said he would.
