Good luck getting any type of call backs and if you have trouble with your insurance your in for a bumpy ride. I had that experience and was never even asked if I could pay out of pocket, which I can, but feels like they are too busy. Going back to my PCP for a different referral. read more

I feel BARI good! Today is my one year anniversary after beginning my journey with this team. I have had a very successful program and lost well over 100 pounds. A thorough review should include everything for this process. Within one week of me conversing with my primary to asking for the referral to a Weightloss's Doctor for bariatric surgery I had an appointment. During my first appointment it was an education class about the procedure and process. I was handed a list from my insurance company with specific criteria I was responsible to meet, obtain and provide paperwork to the doctors office. My list included nutrition assessment, psychology assessment, appointments on education about the procedure and diet and hospital stay, an exercise log, notes from primary doctor regarding my health, FOR MY SPECIFIC CASE I also needed clearance from Cardiology and another doctor. I left my first appointment went straight to my doctors office and handed them the paperwork. Then drove to Cardiology and handed them the paperwork. By the end of the week ALL of my paperwork was completed and I had the clearance I needed to move forward because I took I initiative to get it done. I now needed to carry on with my scheduled appointments, and my exercise logs. I set a calendar reminder to complete and text in my calendar logs and updated them mostly on a weekly basis. I never missed a scheduled appointment and opted for the earliest appointment whether it was video or in person, meaning I would have to drive over an hour to each appointment. Each appointment must be 31 days in between and no sooner. I was able to do so being flexible and willing to drive the distance. One of my appointments was to meet and discuss with the surgeon which procedure would be best for my needs. I had done heavy research and knew I needed more than the gastric sleeve, for my personal issues. I had the ability to really dig deep and be honest with myself about my health, my lifestyle choices that got me here, my mental health, my genetics and my environment. With that said I opted for a more involved procedure, the DS Loop with the help of Dr Huber and Dr Coates. I was well informed, educated myself, heeded to their experience and honesty, and we were all on the same page about the surgery option that was chosen and the outcome it would bring if I followed their meticulously planned program. At each appointment you check in, educational videos are playing, vitamins and other supplements are displayed for purchase, you weigh in, you are asked if you understand your next steps, you are clearly told what you have completed and what you still need to do to meet your criteria requirements. This program has some responsibilities that you have to do, but they hold your hand and assist the entire process if needed! I never once felt judged or shamed for my health, there was always constant praise, encouragement, understanding and education during the six months it took me to complete my tasks meeting criteria to move forward with a surgery date. I have heard several bad reviews from chatting with individuals and during conversation asked did you do XYZ? No is the answer. Well you cannot blame that on anyone but yourself. Follow up and get your stuff done! Follow the program, take responsibility for yourself and your health! My process from referral to surgery was about 7 months long. Times can vary based on insurance requirements, timing of procedure vs how many other patients also finish at the same time, which hospital is covered for your procedure.. and most definitely how on top of your own responsibilities and program you I do have one HUGE regret.... NOT DOING THIS SOONER!!! Thank you to the entire staff, Doctor Huber, Doctor Coates and all involved!!! Do I recommend this surgeons office? I just read all of the reviews for CCS and to be honest, I am shocked! I am so sorry for all the horrible experiences. I felt that I needed to give a review. I started my journey with CCS on 6/9/23 with the seminar. The insurance coordinator was straight to the point. Not the most friendliest of people but I overlooked that. Then, one of the surgeons, Dr. Andy Huber (a cutie, by the way!) went into details of all the weight loss surgeries. I researched prior to the seminar what surgery I was interested in but it was still interesting to hear about all the different types. Dr. Huber was so nice and stayed to answer every question. I felt as though he was compassionate and a huge supporter of weight loss surgery and not just the bottom line. Per my insurance, I had certain criteria's to meet. I have given very detailed instructions. I found the office staff (EXCEPT for one person) to be and still is wonderful and helpful. Christina, the front office receptionist is so down to earth and funny. The P.A.s, Zach and Alyssa are amazing! Once all my requirements were met, my paperwork was submitted on 10/2/23. I received a call from the office on 10/16/23 with the approval from my insurance company. My surgery was 10/31/23. I was happy that I was scheduled with Dr. Huber. He spoke to me in length prior to surgery. Answered all my questions. Post surgery, I had complications. I was treated well. Turns out my gallbladder decided to not work after surgery. I ended up getting my gallbladder removed on 12/21/23. But from 11/3/23 until the day of my gallbladder removal surgery, I received the very best follow up care regarding my complications and struggles associated with my gallbladder. Went above and beyond. Thankfully, since my gallbladder removal surgery, my health is wonderful! I have lost 93 pounds since surgery and 139 pounds since my highest weight. read more

I have recently been diagnosed, with a Paraesophageal Hernia... This explains the unresolved nausea, chills, feeling cold when a room is sufficiently warm, weight gain, indigestion, belching & it's opposite. Also, I have pain in my abdominal region & a CONSTANTLY bloated abdomen to the point of my clothing fitting tightly from head to toe. I'm bloated with water weight gain and I feel miserable and pretty alone, when it comes to getting practitioners of medicine that seem to have no "urgency" in actually diagnosing me & getting the necessary surgery scheduled in an urgent versus lackadaisical method.... First I was given an appointment with a Dr. Coates. I kept that New-Patient appointment & that resulted in being "cleared" to move to the next "unannounced-invisible-level of care" MD, Dr. Coirin but this time, I had to wait several weeks for an appointment with the "surgeon". It will be noted here, that I found the "system" they have in place to be one of dishonesty.... No one and I mean NO ONE informed me when I made my own appointment with Dr. Coates that he wasn't going to be the medical doctor performing the urgent surgery I needed. So what is happening here is that this office, these two doctors (since I've only seen these two thus far) are behaving in a manner that says that unscrupulous acts are occurring in this bariatric surgeon business & I'm not here for bariatric surgery as my referring MD informed me that I needed to have abdominal surgery performed... Why do I say dishonesty is occuring? Because in doing this, they are charging PEOPLE ie: Me, for copayments more than once. I used to be a licensed nurse in the state of California and I've worked in the medical field for over 2 decades & I have scruples and honesty which I wear on my conscious. What should have happened, is I should have had the initial appointment WITH THE DOCTOR/SURGEON that will be doing/performing my urgent surgery. Instead Coates charges a $15-$25 Copay for a USELESS visit. Then the next doc, makes you have an appointment with them and they charge yet another co-pay. It is called "price gouging & overuse of the copayment method". There is a pattern here of "unnecessary billable hours/etc." and it is ILLEGAL & Immoral... This is "price gouging" and I've witnessed other medical practitioners do the same. Shame on all of you involved in this unscrupulous continual behavior... Dr. COIRIN, MD tells me I don't have a paraesophageal hernia however what I continue to experience (uncomfortable 24/7) is that now my surgery for this Friday the 16th of the month; this Friday has been cancelled because Dr. Coirin, MD wants me to have another diagnostic procedure that COATES should have and could have scheduled me for without cancelling my surgery. It's lunacy truthfully. It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and I'm looking at this guy to perform a major abdominal surgery on me. Yes I am now nervous about this surgery more than I was before the lunacy began. I have had to reorganize my life for this surgery that now isn't happening. Come more out of pocket for this new test at a new business I'm not familiar with so there is more money out of the mouths of my dependents & myself. I had to reschedule this "extra" procedure/diagnostic for tomorrow as I was so upset and discombobulated, from yesterdays "SUPRISE!!! I"M HERE TO make your life a living Hell by stalling your surgery even further". I'm really disappointed, in this firm of supposed medical personnell.. I've taken some photos of this "business" as it's what I do as a Sr. Yelper!; I've been at this Yelp! Gig for nearly 10 years now so I know my way around all sorts of businesses plus I once was an insurance biller for a hospital. I've got more lived experience with the medical profession and HOW PATIENTS should be treated to stand-by my journal entry here today. An Oath Nurses & Doctors take is: DO NO HARM These MD's should begin their day reading this in--office & at the end of each day; do the same until you remember the amount of power to heal or harm that you have access to. Went through whole program, everything was great until I completed everything and got to the insurance part. Since 10/6 I have had everything finished and all it needs to be done is the insurance coordinator had to submit it. I have tried getting a hold of her since 10/6 calling the receptionist Kelley and harassing them with no response from the insurance coordinator. Even a online message. I completed all 6 of my weights ins now I'm going on my third extra weigh in! This last one and this upcoming one definitely could of been avoided if they would just CALL ME. I even posted on the CCBS page community and it's just not me. It seems like they want the weigh in visit/call for money! If I could of known what they do now I would go somewhere because it's been three weeks now going on a month and there is no excuse for that! Complete sham. My son was referred to this clinic for Bariatric surgery, and completed a 6-month program. He came once a month for a full 6 month, including 2 seminars and a hospital tour. NEVER ONCE did he meet with the actual doctor who was supposedly performing this MAJOR operation... does anyone else see that as NOT OK??!!! Not to mention after 6 months they said they were submitting him for insurance approval and then never called us again. So 6 months of taking our large copays and then nothing. SCAM!!! read more

I just want start by saying that Dr. Coates was really really good. I had my gastric bypass in 2017. Great success great staff, all in all very happy. With that said as soon as Dr. Coirin came in to play in the office, The office staff went downhill. Not nearly as friendly. Definitely not as efficient. Very sad. I've had problems with my stomach in middle 2020 and called to get help. I was finally able to get in and they were going to refer me to get an endoscope and sonogram. Shortly after that I lost my mom and then my dad went downhill eventually losing him as well. Since that time I have called twice to try to get reconnected for the endoscope and sonogram with no return calls. I can understand once, but twice? Is it really to help people or is it the bottom dollar. Very disappointed and will not be referring people anymore. There are numerous people that I know that have the same feeling haven't gotten on yelp to say anything. When I'm looking for a new business, Dr. etc. I rely heavily on feedback. I hope this helps some of you. Again, Dr. Patrick Coates is an outstanding doctor. It's just his staff It is seriously lacking. I hope this helps. read more

Dr. Patrick Coates is a amazing and caring surgeon, but his staff at the Modesto office are the worst I've ever seen in my life! The PAs are a joke they basically do not know a single patient they just pick up a paper and go into a room. Before this office was moved they had a good caring staff now it's a punch of retarded rude as hell staff that do not know you or your condition from the next person. I am 3/4 thru my Diet Docs. I have completed all my pre req's and all I have do is my last 2 weigh ins and pre-op classes. If it were not for me advocating for myself and having the medical/health care knowledge I have I would have given up on this surgery months ago. The providers have not given me the time of day nor the MA's. Also the front desk girls act like they are being forced to come to work every day. You chose to work this job and the patients coming in do not deserve to be treated poorly also they seem too busy to get off their cell phones to talk with patients. I have been to both offices and I can say that the stockton office is very clean and professional unlike the modesto office. It dissapoints me because this could be such an easy fix with a different office manager or trainings or better yet office cameras! I know Robert has worked hard to create this business and it would be a shame to watch it dwindle due to poor staffing. read more

Dr Antonio Coirin is by far the best surgeon I've seen. I was paired with him sight unseen, and later found out how lucky I am to have him as my physician. He's skilled, patient, compassionate & thoughtful at every approach. Most surgeons are all done w/you post surgery, but not him.. he's very careful in monitoring the patient & addresses issues head-on. Whether weight loss surgery, or other surgical procedures he's the surgeon you want treating you. Dr Coirin gave me the gift of getting my life back. I can't thank him enough. Top notch! read more

I'm giving this office four stars. It's definitely a waiting game but most of that is medical insurance. No you do not meet the surgeon until right before surgery. BUT Dr. Coirin is a very good surgeon. I took about 12 months to be approved and have the surgery. It was worth every headache and wait. I am almost 12 month post op and not one complication thus far. I will say once surgery is complete I thought something was wrong and called the number for urgencies, Dr. Coirin spoke with me. And his advice helped so they are their to help their patients. (I was just conspatited lol) read more

I do not normally post reviews. However, I was treated so poorly at my visit, I had to say something. The nurse practioner I saw was rude. Unfortunately, I do not remember her name. She had zero bedside manner and while she asked if I had any questions, her vibe was that she did not want to answer them. I came prepared with the paperwork they emailed me, which among them was a series of questions I had to call and ask my insurance for. She looked at none it. She then handed me all the blank forms and told me to have it filled out and make another appointment. When I presented her with the completed forms (again, that they emailed me and told me to have completed before visit) she seemed put off. She took them though, and told me she would give them to Yesensia the insurance coordinator and Yesenia would call my insurance and get back to me. My appointment was THREE months ago. If I could give negative stars, I would. I have been horribly mistreated by the staff at the Modesto office. Specifically, the CEO Robert Chamberlain aka "Bobby" and Kimberly, the "Office Manager" who used to be the surgery scheduler. I had my original surgery by Dr. Patrick Coates. I went back to them after having some serious medical problems and I clearly needed revision. My insurance easily approved my revision within 3 months and I was scheduled for revision surgery, Oct 2017. But the scheduler "Kimberly" made a mistake and she scheduled me at Doctor's instead of Memorial Medical Center. My insurance had already approved Memorial and NOT Doctors Medical Center. When I discovered the mistake and brought it to their attention, I was silenced. They kicked me out of their Facebook support group because I openly asked why they were ignoring my phone calls and not returning my voicemail messages. The office staff has obviously been instructed to direct me to Bobby, and only Bobby. My medical records are stored in a locked, "Private" computer and the only people who have access... you guessed it, Kimberly or Bobby. It took me 4 separate visits to obtain all of my medical records in 2019, and I never received the last month of my medical records (the month when all of this happened... probably because they contain the damning information about me that they have hidden away). When Bobby told me I was no longer welcome in their office he also told me he would help me "If I could find another surgeon". That was a lie. I have not spoken with him since this all happened in 2017! He still won't take any of my phone calls. The newer staff probably have no idea what's actually going on. And I highly suspect that the doctor himself also has no idea! Poor guy! He has entrusted his multi-million dollar business to these evil people and he has no clue what they are doing behind his back! (At least that's what I hope is true. I don't want to believe that he has a part in any of this stuff.) I still need revision surgery and it is now 2021! I have been fighting with my insurance to allow me to see a surgeon, any nearby surgeon, but I am probably blacklisted. Oh! and I am now in a wheelchair too because I am too heavy for knee replacement surgery! They have played God with my life to cover their mistakes. They dismissed me and never gave me a second thought! read more
