This used to be a nice place to go to, but now the main nutritionist you see is replaced by a rude man who makes comments like "Wow you have gained a lot of weight." Don't go here unless you are prepared for degrading comments. He made similar comments to other people I know who have gone here and refuse to go back. read more

I can't say enough about Medallion Weight Loss. It's been such a rewarding experience for me. I usually tell Christel ( I consider her my therapist )"without her listening hear, encouragements and motivation that moved me forward to my weight goal, I would not be who I am today. The Medallion in Modesto on coffee Rd. is going through some changes that I find to be exhibiting deceptive, and waver from what I believe and expect should be professional business practices. The changing of hands to a different Dr. appears to be leaving the new Dr. with concerns that are creating a frantic need to call patients and claim to be returning calls that I never made to the clinic. The first call was simple and asked if I needed to make an appt. for the following month, I told them no and if I found the need I would call them. The second call I got a day later said they were returning my call from the message I left at the office. Again, I didn't call or leave a message. Dr.Backert, has left Medallion and is now under her new name "Medi weight loss" and is located in Lathrop Ca.. It appears that Medallion is trying to alter the course of any of Medallions patients that choose to follow Dr. Backert to her new location, which is creating false reasons to make contacts with clients that might choose to stay with Dr. Backert. Medallion tried to avoid stating that they were in transition and wanted me to believe nothing was changing and implied they were calling on behalf Dr. Backert. Just a heads up for anyone who uses Medallion that truth is first and foremost for all things, even them. read more

Before moving to Modesto I went to an office in the bay area, and sometimes felt judged and critiqued by the doctor there if I didn't shed the weight expected. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!! I would give zero stars if I could!! I called and was told the first visit is an exam and counseling on nutrition, diet and exercise along with appetite suppressant and it would cost $100. My first appt was at 5pm on a Tuesday, there is no receptionist, no nurse, no one except Christel Backert. I went in, signed in on a computer then was asked to watch a short video and fill out some paperwork. Before finishing the paperwork including health conditions and medications. Christel Backert called me back. Since I had not had an opportunity to complete the paperwork I thought I would verbally go over everything with her during the exam. She took me in her office with no exam table, she did not even have a stethoscope. She weighed me on a scale that spit out a piece of paper that told her my BMI and other obvious information and took my blood pressure with a wrist monitor that she had a hard time getting to work. That was the extent of the EXAM. I mentioned that I have a heart murmur and irregular heart beat, she did not listen to my heart. I asked her if she would like to go over my current medication and current medical diagnosis, she said it would not be necessary.... when is that not necessary when getting an exam. She then asked me which appetite suppressant I wanted, I thought that was her job to determine which would work best for me, but how could she recommend one when she did not ask me any questions regarding my weight gain, eating habits, life style, etc. she gave me Phentermine 37.5 mg (in a little white envelope with green writing) told me to take 1/2 2 hours after breakfast the first week then 1/2 2 hours after breakfast and 1/2 2 hours after lunch (if needed). She told me to take 2 over the counter sleep aids and sleepy time tea every night because Phentermine would make it difficult to sleep. I had questions but she was rushed and asking me for payment. I went to my PCP and she told me she could order me Phentermine and it would just cost me my $5 Co-pay and she would monitor me bi-weekly or monthly. THIS PLACE IS JUST A MONEY MAKING SCAM TO GET YOU HOOKED ON APPETITE SUPPRESSANTS AND KEEP YOU GOING BACK. YOU WILL GET NOTHING EXCEPT APPETITE SUPPRESSANTS THAT YOUR PRIMARY DOCTOR COULD EASILY ORDER FOR YOU. I don't understand how they can administer drugs (prescription appetite suppressants) without a prescription and by giving out small envelopes of pills. THIS IS A TRUE MONEY MAKING RACKET FOR THEM PLEASE DON'T CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR SCAM!!!! read more

Christel was amazing! We talked about my diet, eating habits and my goals for weight loss. She gave me two options for medications and talked about the differences. I chose the right one for me. We did a few adjustments because U would get so hungry late in the day. Still loosing weight. Very helpful. I did go to my primary doctor and had a full check up prior to starting. My primary doctor stated that I could do the program if I wanted but my primary does not do weight loss medication. Which is fine by me. This place is convenient and I can walk in anytime during clinic hours. No waiting for hours for my appt in a waiting room full of sick patients. It's cash pay. Not through insurance. Not every insurance will cover these medications. So check with your insurance. Weight in is every two weeks. If you can't go in. No biggie. Just go when you can. Once I hit goal then I plan to stick to low carbs and keep my exercise program. Works really well for me. I recommend. read more
