Had a wonderful dinner tonight sitting outside at Central BBQ. Staff were super friendly and helpful with us. My wife and I split the chicken nachos and a pulled pork sandwich. We tried every sauce and I liked the sweet heat while she preferred the mild BBQ. Good portions of food - not too Smokey - a light touch of smoke worked well. Good price considering other nearby choices- definitely will be more regular visits in the future to try all the other interesting options. read more

I had the Monday special which was a sandwich, side and drink all for only $8.50. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad. Everything was excellent. I was starving and there was more than enough food (it was the smaller sized amount of meat of the 2 sizes they offer). Vast selection of sides. Good amount of seating indoors and out. Sampled the brisket and pulled pork and went with the rack of ribs. The whole rack with four sides is enough for at least two folks. The best side was the (collard) greens. Tender, not overcooked with a slight vinegar taste and definitely not bitter. Meat is tender with nice peppery crust. Was told the secret was leaving the membrane on until after the rack is pulled. Keeps the moisture within the meat. I'll try that at home. Ribs are smoked about 3 1/2 hours at staggered intervals throughout the day and kept in hotbox. If you want ones right out the smoker, the chef said to come at 11:30am. I'm game. read more

I've been to the central bbq in Memphis and was a big fan, this one in Nashville though? Yikes. Maybe my wife and I came on an off night but our food was not good. We got a meat sampler. The chicken had no flavor, and the brisket looked like leather and essentially tasted like it too. The sausage though, we really enjoyed. The sides were very bland as well. Upon arrival, we were pleased to find plenty of FREE parking in the connected garage. The location is easy to find and clean. The cashier was friendly and helpful as we navigated the menu. Came here for lunch while working downtown since it was close to the office. Don't hesitate and go you won't regret it. They opened at 11am and we got there about 11:10am and by 11:15am there was a line out the door. Came here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the chicken bbq nachos and fell in love!!! The chicken was so tender and juicy. I'm not sure what sauce they added in there, but it paired so well with the chicken and nachos. I also tried their three sauces (bbq, spicy bbq, and mustard), and liked the regular bbq sauce the most! Their brisket was also delicious and honestly better than the one I had a few days ago at another famous BBQ establishment. The service was amazing (granted the restaurant was slightly empty), and the manager came to check on me during the meal! I ordered a regular which was more than enough to eat and even take some back home for the night. There are gender neutral bathrooms at this establishment as well as a free shared parking lot right behind the restaurant. They also provide outdoor seating! Not what I expected. Spending my glorous college days at University of Memphis had me regularly visiting the original location in Memphis itself is a far cry from their expanded locations. Fact is, I am one opinion and Central BBQ is doing well enough to open up 4 locations in Nashville in a very short amount of time. This location opened 2 months ago (as of this review written December 10th). I came here with my friends. One of them, visiting me from DC,wanted some southern BBQ. This showed up in the Yelp search and off to Central we arrived. My dining partners both complained of the meat being very dry. I felt my ribs were good. I ordered them dry. The mac and cheese was a sore disappointment, but I liked the onion rings. The guys thought the sides were better than the protein. The protein was supposed to be the star of the show! Granted this is one visit. One visit isn't going to he my make or break, but my question still lies in the fact that I love the original and can expansions really replicate it or has its glory fallen? To be determined I guess. I damn near struggled to finish my nachos lol. They give you a whole lot of sauce & cheese though you run out of meat before you finish lol. The chips are very thin so they get soft very fast. Central BBQ is my favorite Memphis BBQ spot for ribs. I'm a baby back guy and they do a fantastic baby back rib. They're a tad too fall off the bone for me. I like a little bite to ribs and when they're completely fall off the bone you end up eating ribs like chicken tenders. Overall they're some of the best baby backs I've ever had. Happy to have them in Nashville. Good price point too. Phenomenal sweet tea and banana pudding. Sides are just ok. The potato salad is way too oniony for me. Mac is pretty plain as well as the beans. Slaw is a solid, longer cut mayo based slaw. Pulled pork is just ok. Better on the nachos because of all the other flavors in there with it. I'm anxious to try their wings. They look awesome. I ordered the 3 meat combo (pulled chicken, smoked sausage, and ribs) with a side of fries and mac and cheese. I wanted the best of both worlds with the ribs so I ordered half wet/half dry. I still can't decide which side I liked better. The ribs were the best out of the 3 meats in my opinion. They were full of flavor and fall off the bone. I also really liked the smoked sausage. The chicken was a little dry, but it was still good with the sauces. I also noted they took the brisket off the menu when I was ordering. I had the brisket before, but it was a bit dry the last time I had it, keeping in mind I ordered it to-go. We also got a half order of pork bbq nachos. Stopped by Nashville for a short trip. Got the ribs. Legit. Some of the best I've ever had. The sauce is excellent. Fall right off the bone. I got the full rack cause I know how to roll. I would rate 4.5 stars just for the delicious ribs, nice portions and making sure to have everything (sauce / utensils/wipes) for my to go order. However after those good points I was disappointed that the pork rinds were stale. Completely stale so one sided wasted. Greens and Mac and cheese was ok I know it wasn't that good when my sister and I trashed it the next day (we don't waste leftovers). The baked beans were very good though. I was skeptical on trying a chain (albeit it was a local one) on my first night in Nashville. Next time I'm in town I think I will try them out again different sides different location. read more

Since I drive a big vehicle I always worrying with parking but not to fret they have a sweet parking garage next to the spot. Plenty of room in case you larger vehicle owners are worried.
