On New Year's Eve my silver lab was very sick and not moving. After a few days, Dr.Schwartz determined my dog had a life threatening infection. But after looking very bleak, the doctor was able to save her through surgery', which was nothing short of a miracle based on her platelet count. My dog doesn't like people, especially men but he had an almost "Dog Whisperer" like demeanor. The staff is so great as well and costs are always up front and reasonable. Highly recommend them! The assistants there are nice but the vet sees himself as some sort of dog whisperer while the fact his true calling is a used car salesman. We took our 10 year old dachshund and 11 year old Australian cattle dog there for shots. $800... and he tried to sell us some eye medication for a pathogen that "only exists in our area" showing us a vile of worms... during the visit we put a muzzle on our dachshund as he snaps at strangers but he insisted that we remove it. During the exam our dachshund got so worked up he but his tongue and there was blood everywhere. But out main concern was getting him a tooth cleaning, toe nail clipping and a wart removal. But seeing how overpriced he was we asked for a written estimate. $1200 to $2400. He needed those things addressed so we figured since they were all routine it'd be closer to $1200. So we booked an appointment. Upon arrival he insists that we pay $1200 up front. And in the end he charged us another $1250 for a total of $2450. And removed 9 teeth with an extra fee for teeth that he deemed difficult without checking with us first. BUT the did delay working on our dog keeping him there the entire day as they had some sort of emergency and informed us about that. We've spoken to a few locals and they all said that he's an up charger and annoyingly arrogant and we found a great vet a few miles down on 82. Upsides of his clinic it's well maintained and stylish. So if your car costs more than the average home I'm sure you'll be pleased but if you're in the middle class I'd look elsewhere. read more

They have equipment other practices don't (eg an ultrasound) so your pet doesn't get referred out. Furthermore, according to my friend who's also a small animal vet, Dr. Schwartz is the best surgeon in the area. Finally, Dr. Schwartz combines caring and empathy with a razor sharp intelligence. He does talk fast, but he lays out what's happening, and why he's recommending a certain treatment, clearly and concisely. I adore his bedside manner. I believe he is head and shoulders the best vet in the area, and one of the best in the country. read more

The last time I suspected something off with Storm, I was on a business trip in DC. My dog was with me at the time. We have had 3 pets cared for at the CVC and have found the entire team amazingly competent and caring. The vet techs and receptionists are friendly, efficient, caring, and informative. Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Roelke clearly care deeply for both their animal patients and human clients. They will take as much time as is needed to answer questions and return phone calls. I've found Dr. Schwartz to be an arrogant man who is difficult to talk to. He interrupts often and shows little patience his questions aren't answered absolutely succinctly. I've been to him about 5 times total and tried to give him the benefit of the doubt at first, but I've finally had enough. Personality aside, I've found some tests he's run on my pets to have questionable usefulness, esp. after consulting with another veterinarian on the topic. The last pet I brought to him passed away while we were waiting for results on a test another vet told me was largely unnecessary given the dog's young age. read more
