Mind you, we were asked to write down our information (email, contact info) AT the showing to be emailed an application RIGHT after viewing. I can't help but be assured this is is due to a homophobic vibe from the property manager. There is no other reason as we are perfect candidates to live in this community.

This is…read moreprobably more of a 3.5 star place, but they were honest with my security deposit so I rounded up. Pros: The maintenance guys I've interacted with have been friendly; I haven't needed many requests filled but when I was having car problems one of them (Chris?) went above and beyond Never lived in an apartment complex with such excellent snow removal - the contractors they use for the job are excellent Safe neighborhood - kind of isolated up in the hills, haven't heard of any major crime issues during my stay here. Spacious apartments - the largest 2 bdr I've lived in by far They've really worked to get people to clean up after their pets, stop leaving trash out, and in my time here the complex has been fairly neat The carports are clutch in the winter. Large storage space below each apartment too. Included heat is absolutely huge in the winter Cons: The rent increases: the old team tried to hike the price by $100 a month, which is absurd. They'll negotiate with you, but considering these apartments are pricey as it is, this seems like a poor way to promote continuity. Management is extremely hard to get hold of. They rarely pick up the phone, and I've sent multiple emails with no response over the years. This applied to the old and the new management. If you need to talk to them about something, you have to go in person. Could probably benefit from an extra dumpster, this one tends to get full towards the end of the week Some maintenance requests can take a while - a washer kept repeatedly breaking down and it usually took weeks to get a fix. It broke down 4-5 times and they continued to try to fix it instead of getting a replacement. Poor ratio of laundry:tenants. Makes it hard to get a washer/dryer on the weekends. It seems like most winters the hot water goes out at least once (and the heat with it). This is usually fixed within 3-5 hours, but can be a minor inconvenience. They're usually on top of it though. Neutral: The apartments aren't new, but with that said, I haven't had many issues/breakdowns as other reviews have mentioned. Maybe I just got lucky. OVERALL: I've been happy for 3 years. A solid average apartment complex in a decent neighborhood that's probably a bit overpriced but gets the job done and has its perks (included heat, carport). You can probably find cheaper places in the area with similar quality, but I have no major complaints after 3 years. UPDATE: After having completed my move out, I was pleasantly surprised to find they returned all of my security deposit. I've had shady landlords in the past try to take all their cleaning costs out of my deposit, but Summit & Birch was honest and professional in that regard.

The Ugly: - Upon moving into this apartment I signed the lease that gave me one month free as advertised on their main web page. At the end of the lease, I wasn't granted this. The property management team told me all kinds of lies like they never do those kinds of deals. It was not until I sent them an email that they confirmed the free month in an email from 12 months prior. How many times has this happened to other people ?! - Equipment in the gym is often not repaired for months on end. Some weights have been missing for over a year - There were loose tiles on the roof that took years to mend - There was a dead pigeon on the terrace that wasn't taken for a month - You'll need an air filter. Upon moving into my apartment and turning on my Dyson. The app said the air quality was very poor. - You'll need a water filter. I've known quite a few people who got bad breakouts on first moving. I myself had one of the worse breakouts of my life.I was shocked when I got the water tested. - The concierge/security gossip a lot Good: - They have the best views in Hartford - Any apartment repairs are done promptly without concern - Beautiful lobby - The staff is friendly - Fast elevators - Safe building overall So now that you have spent $600+ on water filter/air filter. Spending well over $200+ for your utilities, parking and pet fees. On top of one of highest rents in the whole 06103. You can fully submerge yourself in a view so beautiful that you can almost forget your getting nickled and dimed by morally bankrupt clunks of capitalism .. Almost

I posted this review on Google with photos, and they were removed. If you want any of the photos…read morejust DM me. Unsafe, lots of crime, homeless, and drug addicts. Petty management with a bad attitude. Seriously, don't move here. There was a woman beaten in an elevator, homeless people get into the building and hangout on the 26th floor. A neighbor had furniture stolen right in front of her door. What's worse, is I have an email from management asking people to just return the stolen item. This clearly shows the cameras they have in the hallways are NOT functional, or not recording. The neighbor who's furniture was stolen installed their own camera on the door. Also, there was a lady who was beaten in an elevator, that ACTUALLY happened! I'm attaching photos as evidence to show I'm not lying. First photo shows they leave the loading door wide open(taken at 4:30 am) Other photos 2 different homeless people sleeping on the property. Management says they cant and wont do anything about it. Other notables: Loading dock stinks like garbage all the time. People let their dogs pee anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE, elevators, doorways, lobby, you name it I have stepped in dog pee. Response to owner comment. Quoted incase they change it. EDIT WHICH THEY DID. THEY REMOVED THE ORIGINAL POSTING SO HERE IT IS BELOW "Response from the owner Hi Hunter - Unfortunately, your statements about the apartment community don't paint the full picture and are misleading given your recent management encounters. As you know, 777 Main is in a downtown environment and along with that location you occasionally encounter the challenges that come with urban living. One of the many features of 777 Main is that we offer first floor retail locations for added convenience and the loading dock is often open in the early morning hours, being necessary during deliveries. It's unfortunate that you chose this form of public retaliation. Our staff will continue to be available at any time to discuss your concerns further if you so choose." See this is the problem with management right here ^^^. Zero accountability and trying to cover up the fact that the door gets left open all the time. My response: You are right, they don't paint the full picture. I left more out, so I will add more of the photos. First, based on the way you have treated me, along with the problems with crime INSIDE and OUT of the building, how can you expect more than a 1 star rating? Its called the consequence of your actions and poor management. They removed my review on google to hide this, so I reposted it again. So yea.. 1 star, dont move here.

Now I'm stuck battling this issue out with our landlord. This isn't something I wish on anyone who's paying good money to rent and be independent. Terrible shady people. Not to mention not very knowledgeable on basic renting questions that I had. The response that I received to my questions was "I don't know I don't live here." Do better A-List more like F-list. I would give - stars if I could. Specifically David and Grant in the West Hartford location.

We rented through A-List apartments when we first moved to West Hartford about 2 years ago. To say…read morethey were unprofessional would be an understatement. We were not told when moving in, that many of the apartments in our complex were reserved for low-income households. The majority of our neighbors did not work, and would loiter outside all day and all night. They would invite friends over constantly, and loud groups of cars would be in and out of the parking lot. We will take responsibility for not recognizing this, as we could have done further research or asked more questions before renting this apartment. We were young and eager to move into our first apartment. There is, however, no excuse for the lack of communication & professionalism with any complaints we had about our unit. We had MULTIPLE issues with our apartment's electricity, water (leaking/flooding from the upstairs unit), and safety (the windows would pop out of the unit, none of the fire alarms were up to code, and our oven started leaking gas). We had no direct line for maintenance. The number we'd been given was a machine automated answering service. We'd call multiple times and leave various messages for days on end and receive no response. When someone did ultimately call back once, they called from a blocked number so we still had no direct line of communication that we could contact again. After about 6 months of this, we tried to approach management. Rob Koff was the absolute most unprofessional and immature "adult" I have ever dealt with. He came on the attack, was completely unapologetic, acknowledged that the unit we were in was oversold (shows how desperately he will try to make a sale), and yelled and laughed at us over the phone. I have never been spoken to by a "professional" like this in my entire life, and never will again, as I will certainly never be dealing with A-List properties again. I do hate to generalize based off one experience. It seems from other reviews that other affiliates of A-List Apartments set the bar significantly higher than Rob Koff does. I hope that is the case! A-List - do yourself a favor and do not let your name be dragged down by such an unprofessional.

I don't recommend this place at all, here's a just a few reasons why... There is an inch wide crack all the way around the doors to the hallway and the wind whistles through the door all night in addition to letting in the hallway light and all the hallway smells. The hallway always smells terrible, both from people living in the building with incontinence issues and the laundry room vents into the hall. Bugs enter the apartment through the hallway door, spiders, stink bugs, earwigs... The windows do not shut tight we and the wind whistles through the windows. The windows leak water into the apartment during a rain storms. Birds live in air conditioner and wake you at 4 AM. Outdoor lights in the courtyard never go off so they shine in all night. KITCHEN: The kitchen sink was installed with very cheap fixtures that lacked gaskets so water leaked down under the sink. The dishwasher leaves debris on the dishes so every load needs to be rinsed off. The garbage disposals are ancient and don't grind. If your unit has a washer/dryer... the washer tears your clothes and the dryer vents INSIDE causing massive dust in the apartment. The stove also vents inside, putting grease everywhere. Other people have said this -- they raise the rent - a LOT, every lease renewal!

I lived in a studio from 2007-2011, which had a hallway, huge closets, and a humongous bathroom. The grounds were kept immaculately and the location was sheer perfection. Maintenance were very friendly gentlemen. When my fridge stopped working, they were quick to replace it with a newer one. When the ceiling fell out in the kitchen, they fixed it too. I used to walk to Stop and Shop, CVS, Dunkin' Donuts, and Boston Market all the time. The Chinese restaurant, Tasty, was a delicious convenience for me. They would throw two parties a year; a holiday and a summer cookout! The leasing office for the most part was very nice to me, except when I tried to negotiate the price. A bus stop is in front of the complex in case you don't have a car. The one-star deduction was for the price. These are very, very expensive apartments. The starting price for the studio is about two hundred dollars more per month than my last year rent. For the price, they should include a hot tub in the pool area and built a gym in the basement. Though I felt like I had no disposable income when I lived there, I felt it was worth living in a safe, convenient and beautiful place. I moved out solely because I could not afford (and I had decidedly to move in with my boyfriend). I do recommend Westgate if you make lots of $$$$$, but don't want the commitment of home ownership. Westgate was a wonderful experience for me.

I loved it when I…read moremoved in, and two months later a new property management company, Bozzuto, bought the property. They came and all the problems started. No one EVER answers the phone when you call the front office. And when you do finally get ahold of someone, you're greeted by the most monotone, rude, apathetic employees who never transfer the messages to the right place and could not care less about connecting with their residents. They nickel and dime you for everything - every time I looked at the statement for my rent there was always a strange added fee that I had to question. There is no security in the complex. There are no cameras, alarms or keys to get into the buildings - only to get into the actual apartment, so anyone can walk in. Which someone did. Someone who wasn't a resident came in and pulled the fire alarm at 11:45pm on a Sunday. They also do not have the garbage/recycling picked up frequently enough. Every single week it overflows onto the ground so the bugs and smells are awful. And if the recycling overflows, they just throw it in the garbage, which I've witnessed. What's the point of recycling? Also, they do not take customer complaints seriously. I complained numerous times about the noise, as well as being hit on by their construction crew, and no one did a thing. They were extremely unclear about outside maintenance schedules, I was not informed for months even after I asked to be since it took place right outside of my apartment and distracted me from work. At the start of COVID, they sent out an email stating "We recognize that you are working from home, but we are doing maintenance around the complex so we recommend scheduling your meetings outside of 8-5". Are you for real? My fireplace didn't work for NINE MONTHS. Maintenance was aware. It took them 9 months to fix. Which is absolutely ridiculous. And I followed up on almost a weekly basis. Our AC also broke 3 times over the summer and it wasn't considered an "emergency" cause it was only 84 degrees in my apartment. One of the most obnoxious things was that they still required their residents to pay the monthly $30 amenity fee during COVID-19, even when ALL of the amenities were closed and unavailable. And then as soon as residents were allowed to use them again, they shut the pool down for 2 weeks for maintenance. Why couldn't they have done it during COVID? Who knows. Also, a lot of residents that live there are college students and do not abide by the quiet hours policy. I lived on the second floor, and my upstairs neighbors threw parties and were playing music SO loudly all hours of the night. Even after calling the cops, and complaining to management numerous times, they still did nothing. Bottom line, not worth the aggravation of living here. It's so pricey for crappiness of the management company and the prices just keep rising with this new management company. So happy to have left when I did.

Like other renters, they tried to swindle me out of my security deposit and also were completely unhelpful in cooperating with my move such as notifying utility transfers and returning my requests for mover dates. When I would try to contact the leasing office about inquiries, follow ups or complaints, they were no where to be found. Only payment inquiries were handled in an acceptably professional manner. In all one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in my life, especially when considering this is a "luxury" apartment home. Good riddance!
