First vacation of 2023 I went to Mexico and has the chance to check out this cenote! It's a pretty cool place to swim. I believe it was $9 a person for entry which does not include any life jackets. HIGHLY RECOMMEND bringing water shoes. It was super hard to walk in the cenotes due to very slippery rocks and algae. I think they also had water shoes for purchase if you didn't bring one. It was quite crowded when we got there in the afternoon. They will ask you to rinse your body before getting in. They have an area where you can rinse off. There are several areas where you can swim and some of them are shallower than others where you can just chill and dip your feet in. The crowded area had a cliff where you can jump off from. Lots of people were forming lines to jump. There's also fishes in the water and you can even see by just standing. Overall it was a cool place to check out.

Came here over New Year's (Specifically Jan 4) I'm late writing my review :-( We came on a tour got here around 10:30/11am which was perfect to beat the crowds. We had our snorkel gear so we didn't have to rent any. The water was perfect. I did jump off the cliff and wish I knew how to upload a video because we got it on the gopro so it looks so cool when we went underwater. Find a place to sit still and the fish will come give you a lil spa pedicure too!! By 12:30 it really started to fill up so we packed up and left. If you get a chance to come here, you will not be disappointed!!

Definitely suggest this location. Kind of pricey for a cenote but a gal has to get her pics for the gram you know. Con: if you lose something the staff will offer you money to find the lost item even though they found it as soon as it was lost. I mean this man dang near had a full scuba suit lol... I'm not mad at the hustle, but next time don't accidentally make a video on the snap chat glasses because it was time stamped.

So much fun for kids!

My family and l visited this magical cenote for spring break 2024. It was beautiful! Clean, well kept and perfect for young children. The water was crystal clear, it has lots of shallow areas perfect for small kiddos. I do recommend wearing water shoes since there are lots of rocks or uneven areas. You can rent out life vests on site. Bring scubba gear lots of fish! You can bring food or purchase on site, they offer snacks. Bring little valuables and perhaps a water resistant bag for your phone. Staff were great and very friendly.

It's 120 pesos per person. If you want a life jacket, it's available for 40 pesos. They hold onto your ID as a deposit. Came on a weekday around 11am and there was a few people already there. By the time we left around noon it got a bit crowded. Do bring water shoes! The rocks have algae and you can easily slip on them if you are not that careful. I've seen some one did that and the last thing you want is to get hurt while you are on vacation. There are fishes that will eat your dead skin if you stay very still. They are harmless. The water is super clear and cool. There are shallow areas and then there are deeper ones where you can't stand on rocks. There is a cliff you can dive or jump from and also a jumping platform if you are afraid of heights. There's also a small cave under the cliff. The cenote is beautiful and luckily didn't get bitten by any mosquitos. Less of a tourist spot if you come early.

Yes! Definitely a fan! This Cenote was beautiful and super easy to find! (right off the main road with a sign easily visible) My friends and I decided to just swim on our own with no snorkeling equipment or life vest (which I also recommend doing) and it was only 76 Pesos which is 4 USD and 6 USD if you pay in American cash. You only need about an hour and a half here to swim, explore, take pictures and jump off the little cliff they have there. It does seem to get a little busy later in the day so I suggest going a little bit earlier. We were there around 10am and it was peaceful. It was definitely a fun/relaxing little way to end our trip. Enjoy!

Beautiful Open Cenote for swimming and snorkeling. Sufficient parking. About 6 US dollars to enter per person (100 Pesos). Has a little area to eat, where they sell empanadas worth trying. They also have a little ledge, off which you can jump into the water - which is fun in and of itself but also makes for entertaining people watching. There are so many cenotes in the area and since I only went to this one I cant speak to how it compares to others but its definitely a nice time (and easy to get to given its proximity to the main road that connects Cancun to Tulum).

I finally made it to Mexico. I can honestly say that I've been dying to go to Mexico for the last few years. One of the major reasons was to dip my toes into a Cenote. Well, more like jump 12 feet into a cool cenote but you get the point. In order to avoid giving the cruise line all of my money, I decided to plan my own excursions with the exception of Mexico. We only had 8 hours in port on Cozumel (an island in Mexico). When I sat down to plan the trip I quickly realized that 8 hours might not be enough time to take a 40-minute ferry from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen and then another 50-minute bus ride to Tulum and get back on time. "Where do I catch the ferry?" "What if I miss the bus?" "My Spanish is on a second-grade level. How will I navigate the country?" Our tour was with Sun and Fun Tours and it was awesome! We hopped on a ferry and a bus to reach the Tulum Ruins. Inside the ruins, we were met with beautiful seaside views, rich history and a whole lot of sweat. I was dripping buckets by the end. To cool off, we headed to Cenote Azul. Not so fast, to reach our private section of the Cenote, we canoed a beautiful lake to get to the other side. The anticipation built as we finally made our way to the dreamy waters of Cenote Azul. Aptly named by the way because it's the bluest water I've ever laid eyes on. Seriously, I could write poems about it. In those moments, nothing mattered and I was free. Swimming is the freest feeling in the world and to do so in such a serene place was the best. I can only imagine how blissful it would be to swim here early in the morning alone or even with an intimate group of friends. I wish to be free and spend my summers swimming in Mexican Cenotes forever. Keep up with my food & travel adventures - https://www.instagram.com/briyoumetravel/ youmelunch.com #YouMeTravel

Cenote Azul was beautiful. I was so happy we had a chance to go here on a Sunday afternoon. We got there around 2 and it was packed. We paid about $6 each to get in plus about $2 for snorkeling gear. As a side note, they make you give them your id as insurance for the snorkeling gear. You get it back as soon as you return the equipment. Its a short walk from the ticket area to the cenote. Just follow the road. Once we got there, there were TONS of people everywhere. It was hard to get around. Also, there were no lockers, so you have to pray you are surrounded by honest people. I made friends with a family and asked them to watch our stuff for a bit while we snorkeled. They didn't take anything so I guess we were lucky. The scenery is gorgeous. There are even some small caves you can swim to. My boyfriend jumped from the cliff on the cenote which was awesome. The rocks are kind of close so you need to be careful, but the water is deep and the feeling is amazing. I highly suggest you get the snorkel gear to look in the water at all the rock formations. However, you don't really need the life vest if you are an average swimmer and don't panic easily. Even though there are some very deep areas, shallow water is not far. It may be a benefit for children, though. Life vests are not free here and cost extra at the ticket counter. If you find you need it though you can always go back. The cenote was small and we didn't stay very long. It gets insanely crowded in the afternoon so if you want a less hectic visit, go in the morning. But you must eventually see if you are in the area. You won't be able to find it anywhere else.

Beautiful small Cenote to visit. Great for small children and people that can't swim well. I paid like $7 usd to get in and took a shared taxi outside from the resort for 15 pesos each which is around 75 cents. You can rent goggles and life jackets. They also have a snack area with bathrooms. Go early!! Starts to get busy around 12:30.

Probably the most underwhelming snorkeling experience that I have had. This was my first time
read moresnorkeling in a lagoon and I was really excited because the water looked clear and beautiful on land. We came here with a tour guide around 11am in February, and the water was not only cold, but there were not many fish. When there were fish, it was the same type of fish over and over again. Maybe she just didn't take us to the right places, but I didn't see anything that excited me. I probably wouldn't want to come here again to snorkel. There are probably much better places for it!

Super fun experience. On a recent trip to Cancun for a wedding my friends and I decided to book an
read moreexcursion from our hotel and decided upon one that takes you to both a cenote and a laguna for snorkeling. Yal Ku happened to be the lagoon our guide took us to. Didn't get to explore the area too much but theres a parking lot, small changing rooms, bathrooms, and a small restaurant. Several other groups were there trying to snorkel at the same but it wasn't overly crowded. We first went and got our supplies...lifevests, goggles and fitted them. Once everyone was fitted we jumped into the water and were instructed to go to a certain area of the lagoon. Some areas had slightly poor visibility--I mean, it is a lagoon, can't expect too much. Some cool things I saw included this huge school of sardines swimming right next to me and some rainbow colored fish in another area. Almost didn't want to leave the water because I was so excited to explore. Made me want to book a snorkeling trip to an island asap... Anyway, when you do come out to the parking area, you might run into the ice cream man with those pinwheel crackers~get some!

It honestly was not as big of a wow factor as I had hoped
read more... Our tour guide for the cave was subpar at best! He did a very bad job at sharing the ecological (and anthropological) history of the area He did a bad job answering questions... We were rushed through the cave ........ It is a beautiful cave though, especially the part where you walk over the water over the bridge ((but definitely should not be a top 10 National Geographic cave walk!!!..?!!! I have seen much cooler caves!...) The animal park is very fun. They take nice care of the animals and they actually have a great variety. My two-year-old had a great time with the animals. The cenote Was ***extremely busy !...... full of loud obnoxious tour groups who completely ruined the whole vibe There are catfish in the water that do not bite The cenote is small. The water is crystal clear! It is very fun to explore! Bring a mouth piece for the snorkel, as they do not provide those (the thing that enables you to breathe while you are under water) The water is FREEZING cold Even colder than they advertise There are no wet suits We went Thursday at 1 pm for the cave, and 3pm for the cenote, so I was not expecting it to be busy..... The cenote is 10 minutes away from the cave ( you have to drive there) Aktun Chen is about 20 minutes down a dirt road- once you exit the highway, there are signs saying you are heading the right way to the cave/cenote, but I kept doubting myself.. as the dirt road feels very remote Glad I went, but honestly would not go back again... PS- they say no sunscreen to protect the cenote, but allow bug repellent lololol -- do you know how much more toxic bug repellent is than sunscreen?? Hire better staff, and I will feel inclined to give a better review It felt like a cattle corral ..... did not feel genuinely cared for ((or that the staff genuinely cares for the environment!..!.!.!)

We signed up for the combo package which included ziplining, then a cave tour and then the cenote
read more The whole family unanimously agreed Aktun Chen was the highlight of our 1 week trip to Mexico. The ziplining was 10 ziplines, and the tour guides were fun and allow you to go upside down or 2 people at once on some of them. Make sure to bring money to tip the tour guides! The cave tour was the weakest section but I admit I did learn a bunch of interesting geological sorts of stuff. The cave actually gets a bit muggy and so the cenote was a great way to finish the day and cool off. They have you do a very brief "tour" in the cenote and then we were given about 30 min of free, unsupervised play time there. The water is clear, cool, clean and you adjust very quickly to the temperature. The lighting and colors were MAGICAL and the kids loved swimming amongst catfish. Water shoes were perfect for the whole day. You get a locker at each site. Towels and change of clothes are handy at the end of the day- don't forget those! And keep in mind that getting to the front entrance of Aktun Chen is not the same as getting to the actual reception area - it's ~ 3.5 km down a windy dirt road. Something to consider if you get motion sick easily, or something to consider if you rent a tiny car that might have difficulty on dirt roads.

Akumal beach is such a great beach for exploring the sea turtles and snorkeling! Not great if you
read moreare looking for white sands and no shells though. Weather is always amazing and so many things to do with the little town and dive shop there. Also several restaurants to eat.

Beautiful white sand beach, turtles in the water, minimal seaweed, what more could you ask for!
read more I understand why people make this beach their home base for their Quintana Roo vacation.! I'm not entirely sure one must pay for the guided tour to get in the water and see the turtles. I want to support the local economy, but perhaps there's a trick to enjoying this beach without paying for guided tour, think life jackets, and locker rooms. There is a restaurant on site, and my friend and I just gave a really big tip to the waiter so he would let us leave our bags at the table for 15 minutes while we snorkeled with our own gear to see the turtles. kind of hush hush, we did it very discreetly and quietly and quickly. I attached the screenshot I showed to the taxi driver upon arrival to get us to the restaurant without going through the Disneyland style entrance line and fee. I'm not sure I recommend this method, however, as I can imagine multiple ways this theory could have gone wrong. Side note, perhaps we were off season in late may, but we actually saw no turtles. maybe we should have paid for the guided tour after all.

Laguna Kaan Luum is a great spot to check out while visiting Tulum. It's a lake with typically
read moreturquoise waters. It has a cenote in the middle, but only scubadivers are allowed to go. This is my second visit here and although it was still beautiful, the water wasn't as turquoise and breathtaking as I remember it being the first time I visited. After conducting some research, I do believe that has to do with the time of year of the visits. Regardless, it's still very enjoyable and worth checking out. It's basically a very calm lake. The atmosphere is calm, relaxed, and completely care free no worries vibe. It's the spot to definitely unplug and take in natures pure beauty right in front of your eyes. In the water are hammocks for swinging. An area for overlook. A few huge docks. There's also a few swings in the water. A bar area to purchase beverages and food items. Note, it does cost to get in. I believe it was $18.00 US dollars. You are not allowed to bring in sunscreen, you leave it at the door, and can take it on your way out. You're required to take a shower upon entering. Staff were friendly and explained everything well even with the bit of language barrier. My friend and I enjoyed our time for about two hours and if I come back in February/March 2026, I'd definitely come back for another visit.

This Laguna is a great spot to go swimming! We came after a long and hot walk through the nearby
read moreTulum ruins, so it felt especially refreshing. The Laguna is only a few minutes of walking away from the parking lot. There is a nice observation tower to look at the shift between shallow and deep water. Regular swimmers are limited to the shallow area on the outskirts of the Laguna (which is very expansive) while divers with equipment are allowed to go to the deep center. In the shallow areas are various swings, hammocks, photo opportunities, and even volleyball nets (bring your own ball). We spent a few hours relaxing in the water and soaking up the sun. The ticket is 300 pesos per person and parking is free (need a small tip).
