Martin is a miracle worker, I tell you! He was recommended to me by a friend after another company kept pushing back my appointment. I've had some truly awful tenants in the past--looked like they'd been ice skating on my hardwood floors, leaving deep, sharp gouges. I know I should've fixed it right away, but I waited a few years, which only made the damage worse. The hardwood floors are original and they'd already been sanded several times, so I thought they were beyond saving. Martin assured me there was still life left in them--and he was right. It's so great when you come across a contractor who you really enjoy working with. Celtic Floorcraft was recommended by a neighbor who raved about them, and they were completely right. They did three rooms for us, one of which required staining to match other rooms in the house. They matched the stain by blending two colors and they did more than we asked for in two rooms because they thought it would look better; they are clearly knowledgeable, experienced, and provide good advice, they were courteous and cleaned up well, and they showed up when they said they were going to not to mention following up and communicating during the process. My wife and I recently had our wood floors refinished as well as getting new wood floors in our kitchen and entry way. I called several companies who came over to give me an estimate. All of them told me they would have to rip up the old floors and replace them. I was very skeptical because the floors looked and felt stable. Later that week we called, and the owner Martin Fogarty came by the house. What was comforting about Martin was he was so honest and forthcoming with us and we never felt like he was taking advantage or giving us misinformation. He said he wouldn't rip up the existing floors because they were in good condition and all they needed was some TLC. He also explained the process of putting wood in the kitchen and entry way. My wife and I were very impressed with how professional Martin was. He explained that we would need to be out of the house for a couple of weeks in order for them to do it. The fumes are very powerful and we have three small children, so we needed to be out. We both felt very comfortable with Martin and ended up giving him a key to the house, so he and his crew could do everything when we were on vacation. We recently used Celtic Floorcraft to replace approximately 800 square feet of tile and old, mismatched, and substandard hardwood floors with new white oak hardwoods. Martin came highly recommended from my father-in-law, who had used him for his own projects. We moved into a 16 yr old house (3200 sq ft) in Sudbury with plywood floors & carpet on the 2nd floor and the same situation on 3/8th of the first floor. Celtic Floorcraft removed 2200 sq ft of carpeting and closely matched the raw wood from the original 1000 sq ft of front hallway, living room, kitchen & dining room. They brought the wood flooring and left it a week to get acclimated to the temperature/humidity conditions. The job of carpet/padding/nail strip removal, new flooring installation, refinishing the original 1000 sq ft and finishing the new 2200 sq ft was a work of art. I am a perfectionist electronics engineer and deal with micro-miniature high precision mechanical/electronic assemblies. I can tell you that there were no mistakes in the 2200 sq ft of new flooring (including the inside of sliding door closets). It looked like the new flooring was installed when the house was built. It was PERFECT, even all the undercutting of door jambs was perfect. I was actually amazed because I never thought it would look that good. We used Celtic Floorcraft a second time a couple of years later after our new puppy ruined the floor in one of the newly done rooms by going #1 on a small area rug and through the padding that went unnoticed and ate its way through the polyurethane deep staining the floor in several areas. Martin showed up at the time he said for the estimate and then right on time to replace/refinish sections of the ruined flooring.
