They old me I'm better off looking for a compatible mainboard or same model MacBook with a bars screen. $155 with shipping for a good MacBook Pro matching my model - was in better shape than my existing MacBook. Thank my lucky stars for Cellular-Medic. In the midst of moving today I killed the already replaced once screen on my phone. Total darkness, not good. Verizon gave me the run around so i would have been phone less until after the holiday if I invoked my phone's insurance plan. What to do. I googled to try and see if the screen was legit dead, irreplaceable, scrap the damn iPhone, and results seemed to say it wasn't. It was getting close to the bewitching hour (4pm) and I was scared that I still was not going to be able to get a store to take my phone and replace the screen. Yelp pulled through for me and delivered Cellular-Medic....which happened to be in my new neighborhood. I put on my best moving face and walked on over. The man who helped me explained what I probably did and to just be back by 7 if I wanted my phone, but promised a window of under an hour for the repair. I was amazed. The phone is beautiful and works perfectly. I replaced the screen the last time it broke with a $30 screen online and spent 4 1/2 hours of my life doing so, never again. the $85 (including tax) price tag was well worth having one less thing to stress about. I was very pleased with my recent encounter with Cellular-Medic. After several falls, my XR cried uncle and 80% of the phone face was blackened out and striped (an LCD problem?). I took it to C-M, hoping that they'd be able to turn it around that day -- I had barely gotten back from grabbing coffee across the street and starting to read a short story when the phone was ready. Even with the damage I'd caused, the technician was even able to get the encasement to fit properly and lay flat. A bit more than I was hoping to pay, but definitely within typical market prices. I would rather go to a different place or even consider going to Apple for the screen repair. (My iphone screen was cracked in a corner not involving the touchscreen). I paid around 85 bucks for repair but the new screen does not work properly, I have to touch corner alphabets multiple times to type. Now I feel bad because even after spending descent amount of money, my iphone4S is not the same. One thing which amuses me is when the guy finished the repair, I asked for my broken screen and he refused to give it to me. He said that he has to send it back. Send it back? where? apple? or to another customers phone? Friends.. spend some more money but atleast you will get value for it. read more

I waited less than 20 minutes and paid less than $50 for them to repair my broken on/off switch on my iPhone! I was looking at message boards and it looks like the Genius Bar charges more than $100 for this same repair. After looking at their brochure, it looks like they also deliver their services to your workplace if you need, which is very generous considering that they're open for most of the day and weekend. To be fair, in this review, I am not rating their service performances. But they can't even fix a defective usb charger port/ socket/ jack, whatever you need to call them. This is an extremely common problem that crops up continuously for smartphone users (especially those with mini USB charging) and it's a more than relevant repair issue. They told me they lost their soldering tech, and that this is why they no longer do that kind of repair. This will be an objective review, no emotion. I brought in my phone for repair, the screen replaced was defective. The owner Eli wanted me to bring back the phone asap so he could remove the part as the adhesive was only becoming more affixed and he needed to get it off without damaging it (reasonable request). First estimate was 4-7 days. I refused. Next estimate was 1-2 days. I refused. This was because the defective screen was being swapped for a new one and he needed to wait for the part, I wanted same day service as I need my phone for work. He kept talking about "why should I have to put up the money for the replacement". I said I would bring it in as soon as he had the part to do the same day repair. He then said 1-2 days was the best he could offer. I called Square Trade as I was unhappy with his offer and they stated the repair shop needed to have the part in stock before requiring me to come in. I told Eli this and he immediately became hostile. Started calling me "buddy" and being rude. I tried to say "sorry we could not work something out" and he cut me off mid sentence with "I don't need your apologies". My wife was also supposed to have her screen repaired there and he told me that she'll need to go somewhere else. I dropped my phone off and got it back in like new condition. A bunch of settings on my phone were off (view was magnified, default text messaging application was changed, etc.) but Eli claimed he knew nothing about it. Samsung customer service states the only way those changes could occur was by doing so on the phone, that a screen swap would have no impact on that functionality. I frankly don't care at this point, its been adjusted and the phone works great. Long story short, a very awkward, unprofessional, and time consuming process. Needless to say I will not ever interact with this business again. EDIT: owner must have stumbled upon my review and decided to send me a passive aggressive text message. Let me just say, it has taken me many months to write this review but I just had to warn others. The first time I had my screen repaired here it was wonderful. Quick, efficient and less than $150. I went home and thought everything was cool. Until....My screen cracked literally while I was sleeping. I was blaming it on the fact that I must have bumped it against my nightstand but I would have known I did that, so I think it must have been installed improperly to begin with. But regardless, I needed it replaced again so I brought it down and this time, things went south very quickly. When I finally made it back down to have it replaced, I was subject to the most horrible customer service I have ever encountered. I will save you all the details (message me if you want the full story) however, long story short, I was told to sit down and to shut up. I also felt that if the owner was given the opportunity to hurt me, he would have. He kept yelling at me, telling me that I was disrespecting him, and that no one disrespects him, and that with all the problems in the world... Blah blah blah...... This dude literally wouldn't stop yelling at me, wouldn't stop staring at me like he wanted to kill me as he worked on my phone and kept saying things under his breath. Once I finally left with my phone the screen kept fading in and out and would often be completely black. The phone would be dim in some spots and full on bright in others. When I brought it back he told me that he would put my shattered screen back on and refund my money and I could leave his store. Rude, hot-headed, and good luck with your phone afterward. I ended up having so many issues with my phone that I had to trade it in for a new one. $150.00 is what I had to pay Sprint for a cracked phone.(I already paid $150.00 six months ago when I dropped my phone). $240.00 is what it would cost to purchase the same phone Galaxy 3 out right. December 2014 is when I was eligible for an upgrade. UGH!!!!! I decided to do research, There is somebody out there who can fix my phone for less. Cellular-Medic had good reviews. I contacted them around 3am (yes I was up). They responded back to me by 6am the same day. They gave me a quote and said to stop by. They are located in Federal Hill, so I cringed about the parking, but it was not that bad. The young guy (worker) evaluated my phone and made a phone call to his boss (I think). Eli (boss) was able to give me all the information I needed and honored the quote! (YEA!!!) That's under a $100! I had to come back on Wednesday because he had to order a part. Wednesday came, I did not receive a call from them. I was a little nervous that they forgot about me or the part just did not come in. I called on Friday (I have stuff to do too, lol). Eli said the part did come in that morning. I expressed that I can not come to the store until later that day. He explained that he was repairing 3 of the same phones that day at their Randolph, MA location and it is best that he get to my phone as well. I was a little irritated until he said that he could meet me or pick up my phone. Good thing too, I was waiting on a friend and was not able to meet at the hill. I met him at the local DD and handed my phone ( I was so nervous. there goes my baby (signing off key lol). I went to get my phone at the hill location later that day. Eli was running late due to traffic. (Traffic was pretty bad that day). He walked in with my baby (my phone) no more cracks, Just a partial palm print on the screen ( NO biggie). Despite the slight inconvenience, Eli and his team made up for it and I am a HAPPY customer!!! The price and customer service in person made the difference. My fiancée's daughter had an injury at a "big box" store and she is taking legal action. She took many pictures to document the case on her inexpensive Samsung phone. Unfortunately the phone was not backing up to her Google drive at that time and the screen failed on the phone; preventing her from accessing valuable images of my her daughter's injury. I took the phone to Cellular-Medic for the repair. We discovered that because the phone was so inexpensive, no parts were available for it. As a potential solution, The technician searched for the identical used phone on eBay and I bought it. He then swapped the motherboard and it worked like a charm. If I could give 10 stars, I would! Eli, the business owner, is very professional, knowledgeable and thoroughly experienced in wireless repair. I went to Sprint with my iPhone 5 that I did not have insurance through. I had smashed the screen after dropping it one too many times. I ended up leaving very unhappy when they told me the only resolution was spending $649.99 on a brand new device....which did not sit well with me for obvious reasons. I did some research and found Cellular Medic and decided to give them a shot at repairing my device. When I went into the shop I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere of the store. It's a simple, but elegant design. Eli was free at the time, so he was able to help me right away. When I told him about my struggle he was very empathetic toward my situation and offered me way more than what I knew even existed! I had a black iPhone 5 when I walked in, but when I walked out it was an AWESOME shade of red! He had all sorts of colors on display and it was only a little more for the color exchange than getting the phone repaired like normal. Was in, out and paid inside of an hour. Eli also informed me that he warranties his repairs for any kind of defect, so if it fails mechanically he will repair it for free (physical and water damage notwithstanding, of course). Walked in to get my iPhone 6s repaired, my glass was broken. Was told that it would only take 20-30 minutes. The employee was nice but after everything was said and done. apparently they couldn't fix my glass. The only LCD they had in stock wouldn't let force touch work so they put my old screen back on. 50 minutes after everything said and done. I have my same old phone, wasted time, and no information on when they will have a new stock besides "Try back at 2pm" So instead of wasting $140 on a screen I'll just not waste anymore of my time and keep my old phone, and eventually just buy the iPhone 7 read more

I was skeptical about my cell phone insurance forcing me to use a local repair shop instead of replacing my phone but things could not have gone more smoothly with Cellular Medic. I have never had to return to a business five times to get the job done right. I brought in and iPhone 4 which was repaired wonderfully (the only reason they are not getting one star) and an iPad 2. Since the phone was repaired well, I'll just jump straight to my issues. The iPad was brought in because there was a crack in the corner of the glass of the screen. I was given the estimate and proceeded to have them replace the glass. When I picked it up the glass was replaced, but on closer inspection the home button was warped and off kilter from the heat they use to lift the screen, and the plastic rim that the glass rests inside was all chipped around the edges. I brought it back and showed them, and they agreed to order a new plastic rim and reinsert the glass. I went to go pick it up again, and the glass lifted up when I got home. So, I took it back again. They said the adhesive must not have had enought time to dry. When it was dry, they dropped it off. We went to get a screen protector put on it and the people said that there were fingerprints all inside of the glass. Awesome. This time, I demanded my money back. They offered to refund me and take another stab at getting it right. I just picked it up today, and there are still fingerprints and the the plastic rim was messed up again. One of the techs took a box cutter, in front of me, and started to pry at the plastic. Are you kidding me?! I lost it and left the store. If you don't want a headache, please look elsewhere. ---- 11/5/13 To respond to JB of cellular medic, the people who put the protector on the screen never opened the iPad, my partner watched them do it. The reason it was brought up three weeks later, or rather two, was because you had put another glass on it... hence how the fingerprints were not noticed the first time. Absolutely terrible. Terrible customer service, terrible work done on products and most importantly terrible and faulty products. Got my phone screen fixed there on my iPhone 6 for $150 and two minutes later the screen turns black, I run back to the place and the guy says there's nothing he can do but put my old screen back on cause he's out of new phone screens, (BULLSHIT, he just didn't want to replace my screen for free). I couldn't take the shattered phone screen any longer so I just had him replace it again for ANOTHER $150... It's been only 3 weeks since he's replaced my screen for the second time and the screen is already coming apart from my phone. I do not recommend going here and I will never go to another celluar medic again. They have incompetent bigots working there thinking they're the next Steve jobs. Called today for a Ipad Mini screen replacement. They were $125 cheaper than Apple and had it ready within a few hours. I also ordered a $5 screen protector. They waited for me to come in to lay the protector down and when it became apparent that the protector was defective (it was leaving plastic particles of dust on the screen), he upgraded me to a much nicer and more rugged ($30) screen protector at no additional cost to myself. I broke my screen AGAIN (I know) and it was within their 90 day warranty on the screen so they replaced it for free (YAS). I had a Nexus 5 with a shattered screen. It was pretty badly damaged, looked like a spider web. I called a couple of places before Cellular Medic and who all said they don't even repair the Nexus 5 because it's so new (and so the parts would be expensive and they'd need to train their employees). One place suggested Cellular Medic as one of the only places they could think of that could fix the Nexus 5 screen (so basically that place thought Cellular Medic was the experts). I called Cellular Medic and they answered the phone right away. They said they'd need to order the part which takes 2 days to arrive. They required a deposit of half the total price ($165 plus tax). The margin on the screen repair is actually not that much because the part itself is quite expensive. 2 days later, they called in the morning saying the part was ready, and I went in there in the afternoon. The store was clean and comfortable with a small waiting area, and there was a person in the front fixing a phone. He was very friendly and began taking apart my phone carefully. He was careful to test the phone's functionality before and after the fix. I got a new screen on it and it's like I never dropped the phone. I was very pleased with the speed of service, the price, and friendliness of the staff. read more

They make promises they can't keep My iPad cracked. I was on vacation in Narragansett. I called these guys to see if they could fix my iPad. The guy I spoke with said, "We can fix the glass in 2 hours." I drove up from Narragansett with my kids in the car. I got to Cellular-Medic at 11am. The guy behind the counter said, "he's in meetings now, so he can't fix your iPad right away." I said, "okay, how long?" The counter guy, "come back at 2:30 and it will be fixed." I drove around Providence with my kids for 3 1/2 hours. I went back at 2:30. "He ordered the parts, so it will be done later?" "Has he started?" The answer was "no" and I took my iPad to another place. I burned a whole day of beach and vacation with these folks based on promises made and broken. Had they said, "We don't have the parts in stock" or "it will be an overnight job" when I first called, I may or may not have chosen them, but they wouldn't have gotten a 1 star review. But they wasted a day of my vacation and that earns them the worst rating I can give and a big warning: there are plenty of other iPad repair places in town. Use the other ones. read more

I wish we didn't have those issues but with my situation if I could have sent them my iPad from California they would've probably handled it fine. These guys are great! They specialize in repairing smashed and cracked cell phone screens, but there isn't a cell phone problem that they won't try to tackle. Case in point: I went in with my ipod touch because I snapped the male end of my earbuds in the tiny socket. When the repair guy first looked at it, he wasn't hopeful, but he gave it a shot anyway. Less than five minutes later, he had extricated the errant plug and returned my iPod touch good as new!! I was amazed and thrilled! Can't wait to recommend this place to all my friends! Stop on in. Cons: Replacing my iPhone 5 screen was pricier ($96) than I would have liked. Pros: Eli (the owner) was very courteous over the phone, accommodating about my schedule, and let me watch what he was doing and bother him with questions. He replaced my screen in under 10 minutes, for cheaper than the mall kiosk quoted me ($120 and with a lot of 'tude) and was all around an easy person to work with. VERY rude. I called to get a quote on an iPhone 6 screen repair. He told me $115 plus tax. I was like "okay you have good Yelp reviews." My next question was where they got the the iPhone glass from and if it passed the water drop test... For everyone who's wonder this as well: 1) He efused to answer where he got the glass from and tried distracting me by saying the LCD they use is authentic and you won't ever get original iPhone glass....(i.e. He buys cheap China glass and try's to sell it to you as "high quality" glass that has served 250 customers and he has never had a complaint.) 2) He had NO idea what the water drop test was. I explained to him when high quality iPhone glass has water dropped on it the water will bead and roll off. (Let me say I had already called one place in Johnston before this that was much nicer, further away, and much cheaper ($100-30 day warranty, which is much better than $115-90 day warranty from some con-artist who doesn't care about his customer) this guy in Johnston very kindly took the time to see what the water drop test was - explained to me what he saw and said that if anything happened he would take care of me. He also honestly told me that the glass they use was made in then USA (I won't give the name out of respect to the other company) the guy in Johnston ALSO didn't know what the water-drop test was but still kindly said he would try and see what I was talking about) 3) This company is so arrogant. Telling me (we have the best Yelp reviews and "PSSHH'd" me when I asked for the test saying "PSSSHH! I'm not doing that the our glass no I don't even know this water drop test no one has ever asked me for it. Long story short - I could go on for a while about this cocky boy who works here but you know what....I won't give him my time of day....clearly he doesn't know what good customer service is and to be honest with all of you.....He knew what the water drop test was....I've been to him before with my iPhone 4 and we talk for a while about it....
