Beware -- A Cautionary Tale…read more We had an unfortunate and horrible experience at a time when we were most vulnerable, and we were taken advantage of. My work phone suddenly stopped working, and I needed it for my job. I hate to single out one person, as perhaps it's a cultural problem at this place, but Eddie was kind and reassuring at first. He said he tried everything, including cleaning the port, changing the screen, and replacing the battery, but told us the phone was gone for good. He offered to sell us replacement phones, which we declined. We paid for the diagnosis and took our supposedly dead phone home. As a last resort, we pressed the reset button several times, and on the fifth attempt, the phone came back to life. While we were overjoyed, we also felt cheated and let down by someone we'd trusted as a professional and an expert. When we called back for a refund, Eddie denied ever opening or diagnosing the phone, and hung up on us. We learned an expensive lesson and want to share it so no one else gets cheated the way we were.

My phone is operating like it is brand new. He also gave me tips on how to preserve the battery. The location is a bit hard to find, but worth the drive from Belmont and time it took to find it. He sent Victor over to my apartment same day. Definitely bonus points for responsiveness and convenience. Victor showed up and quickly replaced my screen. However, there was an issue with the proximity sensor with this first screen. Victor said he was getting another shipment of parts that might be a better fit for my phone, as he had only one iPhone 11 screen with him at the time, so he let me know that he would come back when he got the new part and replace the screen again with the better new part. I understand that given the pandemic, shipments of parts are being delayed. This was fine for me because my cracked screen was fixed, at least aesthetically. Unfortunately, with both screen replacements Victor provided, I had similar issues. I noticed the screen was not as responsive to touch as before. The two biggest issues that ultimately led me to bite the bullet and go the "Apple-certified" route to replace the screen again was ghost touches and inability to turn on in direct sunlight. When looking at my phone in full sunlight, even when pressing on the sleep/awake button repeatedly, the screen would not turn on. Further, I had a lot of ghost touches especially in iMessage which drove me absolutely insane because the phone would detect random touches here and there that led to me reacting to messages I didn't mean to react to, or even worse, facetiming people I had no intention of facetiming (including my boss lol). I would have reached out to Brian or Victor again as they warranty their work, but I've moved out of their service area, and I'm not sure they could've done anything to fix these issues. I'm so sad to write this review because I otherwise had a great experience with the replacement process, and I believe that Mobile iPhone Repair is a great service for older iPhones. I just wanted to let other owners of newer iPhones (11+) know that maybe the non-authorized route isn't worth the savings due to all the controls Apple has put in place to make it difficult to use a third-party service. Super shitty of Apple to do, I know - but I'd hate for anyone else to go through the hassle. Since I've had the screen replaced by an Apple-certified service, I've had none of the issues mentioned above.
