Growing up as a Jew in NYC, bagels were always an important mainstay for our weekend breakfasts. And, because I am also a "foodie" (which makes me know the good stuff & makes my family reticent to dine out with me ), I must say that CELLA BAGELS in Selden, NY is the only place I frequent to buy bagels. The bagels have the perfect density and crispiness of those great ones I remember from The Lower East Side (in Manhattan). The taste is always a joy to the palate. If I'm having company, I'll typically go to specialty markets that sell an array of smoked fish, but for bagels, there's only CELLA. I typically buy one to two dozen (of mixed varieties) eat a few and slice the remaining bagels in half and freeze them. I just decided to make a dairy meal for dinner (including various salads); but realized it wouldn't work without good bagels. My kind husband just volunteered to make the trek (30 minutes) down to Selden (probably because he loves the bagels and sometimes me). And finally, if you ever get there and any of the bagels are just coming out of the oven, grab one for immediate consumption. They're heaven. {BTW - I don't know anyone who owns or works there, I am writing this merely to share my experience.} read more

Friendly and fast service. The people behind the counter are patient abd answer questions. The place has a cool relaxed oldies meets new vibe. They're are plenty of sandwich options and combinations. The bagels are so good and have a good chew. I got the seasme bagel with two eggs and a hashbrown. The eggs were cooked perfectly to my liking, over easy. I only wish they had some salt and pepper on the eggs. Iced coffee was fine. I really liked the red velvet muffin. The place is clean but not the bathroom. I can't wait to return and try their other sandwiches, even get another bagel. read more

good food as always and good prices,............................................................

Food (4/5): We got a salmon lox bagel for eating in and it was quite good. They could've been more generous with the amount of Salmon. We also ordered the ford falcon sandwiches to go. Service (4/5): The sandwich we got for here came out fast. However the to-go sandwich took quite a while to come out. Ambiance (5/5): Cool American car decorations inside with a jukebox. Decent amount of seating and mostly clean. read more

This place is becoming my favorite sandwich spot in the area! Bagels are solid. Breakfast sandwiches are great and so are the lunch sandwiches. I've been running through the menu trying a bit of everything and am yet to be disappointed. The atmosphere is also really cool with an old school diner feel, it's like being in the movie Grease. Highly recommend. read more

Cella Bagels - Much to be grateful for. - Bagels Near Me - Selden, New York

First time dropping by this bagel shop the other day and the first thing I noticed was the cool 50's Mel's Drive-In retro interior with memorabilia and art on the walls. The second thing I noticed was the "bagels only" order line which made me very happy. The other bagel shop just down the street ( Desiree's ) doesn't feature this so you can be standing on line there forever while all their counter staff are in the back making egg sandwiches. Also, in this Covid era it's not the smartest thing to have a winding line full of people standing around inside waiting. Keep the line moving quickly! That being said I walked right up, ordered a half dozen bagels, and was out of there in mere minutes. They way it should be. As I drove past the other place the winding line was still there and so glad I left it as I would still be waiting. The bagels here are a nice size, more chewy than crisp, but very tasty. Counter person who helped me was friendly. Quick glance at their menu and they also make breakfast and deli meat sandwiches. I'll be back next time visiting family out here. read more

Staff, mgmt, food and service! The staff always make u feel welcome and work hard to expedite ur order!

I ordered two sandwiches and according to the order board it was 7.49 and 6.49 came out to 21 dollars when it should have been around 16 maybe max 17 with tax. I believe that I was over charged but I didn't want to hold up the line so I just paid and left. Then when I opened up my sandwiches both were wrong. I realized that on the slips that were written out it was listed wrong so it was not the kitchen, the person who took my order clearly did not listen. I still ate the sandwich since the mess up was a plain bagel instead of an egg bagel, it was good but just not what I wanted. My boyfriend got the wrong type of cheese. I also saw that the person who took my order wrote "extra" on my order however I did not get anything extra on my sandwich so maybe that's why I was overcharged. However I didn't get anything extra so I should have not been charged for that. Overall I was so disappointed with the experience and will not be returning or recommending this place. read more

Its always a hit or miss at this place. The lines can be long and service is quite slow. Last time i ordered a toasted bagel with butter my bagel was cold and the slab of butter they rubbed on didn't even melt. But the bagel was toasted so it didn't even make any sense. Average bagels. Nothing really special about it. read more

If you are looking for a Bagel place that treats everyone like they are important then Cella Bagel is definitely the place to go. Their bagels are delicious, Their salads taste amazing (I love their potato salad and I am very picky when it comes to potato salad) and their staff is amazing. I only moved to the area a little over 2 years ago yet they treat me like I have been a customer for years. Benny, Ginger and Mike are great and try to fill your orders as fast as possible. I am so glad that I found them and will not go anywhere else. Cella Bagels is definitely a must try in my book. read more

They don't listen to how you want your food they also don't answer the phone and when they do they put me on hold for 18 minute the food was ice cold and it took them 1 hour and 15 minutes to drop off my delivery also the day before.they messed up my order overall they really suck don't go to this place you will be disappointed they really deserve -5stars put they don't have that but I'm putting minus 5 so you understand I can't see them being in business long unless they step it up alot but as far as I'm concerned once more they really suck and they need a new cook. read more

Quick stop before making our way to the beach since this place was on our way. They have a lot of options with the bagels & many different cream cheese spreads, hard to choose when u are on a time crunch plus of course they offer plenty of other options for breakfast. I ordered the Rainbow bagel Egg & cheese very good nice & soft bagel I asked for toasted bagel but they forgot not terrible. Also tried the Pancakes good as well nice & fluffy good taste. So nice that they have mini bagels perfect for kids we had one with just butter this was good. Good regular bagel w cream cheese & Strawberry bagel both good options. As for the place itself cool decor nice throwback to like the 50's diners. Service was good, nice quick & prices are cheap can't go wrong for a quick bite. read more

Last of MANY errors. They have lost this customer. Asked specifically for a" bacon, onion and swiss omelette" all ingredients go into the egg ... this is the slop they give! They either forget the bagel or dont add hame to their #10! (Ham onion pepper) basically if you want your order correct try a different bagel shop!!!! *note* manager too busy to discuss employee errors and correct it!! TERRIBLE! Never going back!!! Bagels are basic/standard, nothing special. Jalapeño Cream Cheese was the best part. Great, another bagel place in the area... Actually, good, a GREAT bagel place in the area! Peek in the back area when you're at the counter - yup, they're actually making the bagels here. AND.. THEY DELIVER! I'll have to update with details on that, but on a lazy sunday morning when it's too cold to go out and drive, I have the feeling this will come in handy like what.. The bagels are damn good, with a not-too-crisp exterior, but not soft either. The interior is soft and airy, and like fresh bread (I know, duh!) - not like a sponge, so while the bagels are pretty big and filling, they don't sit like an indigestion-causing rock in your stomach for the rest of the afternoon. I have yet to grab one of their sandwiches, this is simply based on a quick stop in on my way to work. But the interior is also pretty pleasant (if you like classic cars and 50's style stuff) it's deserving of some photos. Maybe they'll let me in the back to take pics of the bagel-factorium at work! Went this morning at around 915 for the first time. My boyfriend and I got the same breakfast special. It included two eggs with cheese, a meat of choice and potatoes. When we got the food it was wrong. In one of the orders the eggs were not cooked the way requested, and both platters were missing cheese. The error was quickly fixed. The menu stated that all specials include juice or coffee. When I asked about it, I was told, "not on weekends." I was a bit taken back because nowhere on the menu did it state that it was only a "monday-friday" special. Breakfast ended up costing around $18 since we had to get our drinks separately...which I feel is a bit pricy for a bagel place. However, the food was tasty. Would we come back? Not for $18. read more

So I go to this place all the time but today I went and got an egg sandwich and a bagel with cream cheese and somehow it was 13 dollars. And then the guy behind the counter won't give me a bag if I don't give him 5 cents....really guy? I'm buying hot food not groceries....and I tried to explain this to him and he doesn't want to hear what I'm saying and starts babbling about the government so now I'm walking out with some bagels in my hand smh this guy ruined my experience over 5 cents he shouldn't be charging me read more

Aside from the bagels being sub-par, the service has been consistently poor here. I've had to wait for quite some time for a bagel, and also had my bagel hero order for a party completely disregarded. They forgot that we placed the order and told us that we never placed an order in the first place. All would be forgivable if the food was good but there are just a lot of other bagel places around that have these guys beat. read more

Went this morning (Sunday) around 8:00am. Not very crowded. Only two people ahead of me in line. Why 1 star? I ordered 2 eggs on a roll with ham. More specifically i stated "Two eggs and ham on a roll with salt, pepper, ketchup" , the teenage boy taking my order then asked what I wanted it on. Apparently he doesn't listen very well so I had to restate my wanting it on a roll. Waited 25 minutes while I watched people who ordered after me, some with multiple egg sandwiches, get their orders while I still didn't have mine. Absolutely no excuse for this. Since I was very pressed for time on my way to work I didn't have time to ask for a Manager or confront the dismal looking teen as to why I didn't have my order yet. I did look on the counter and in the back for a stray sandwich and there wasn't one in sight. I won't be going back. Prices are higher than other shops so overall it's just not worth it in my book. I recently moved to the area and they just lost a potential daily customer. read more
